That box looks...odd. I don't think I've ever seen an Apple Watch Hermes that was sold with solely the sport band and even labeled as such. The watches are sold complete with both the sport band as well as a leather band of your choice and boxes are properly labeled indicating this.

If that is the outer "shell" box then there should be two boxes that slip inside it, a larger one that contains the watch and charger and literature and sport band, and a smaller box with the leather band in a felt pouch. What does the rest of your packaging look like?
The interior boxes are both free from stickers. The standard band box and the watch box. I have a ton of the band boxes and most of them are also free of stickers so I just assumed that’s how they always come when you get them inside the full watch package.

Edit: no actually the interior big box has the bigger sticker again

We have three long band boxes which correspond to my single tour Indigo/Craie/Orange and my wife’s Fauve Barenia and Noir/Brique/Etain double tours. The others came with S2/S3 Watches. We have one entirely unstickered band box and the two below.

Only the Noir/Brique/Etain was bought separately (direct from Hermes), so it might be the plain box and the others with Watches.

I lie, my wife also has a Bleu Lin/Craie/Bleu Du Nord double tour that came from Hermes. I didn’t see the other box so I don’t know if it has a sticker or not.

Thanks for looking. Now I’m wondering did it truly only come with the sport band and if so, was the sport band in the smaller box inside the gray duster? Strange to think of a sport band inside the fancy band box all by itself.

Oh the wonders of eBay...all I wanted was the indigo rallye by itself but the auction was pretty dead and low-price so I settled for an s4 (was vaguely waiting for a used s5 with AOD down the road) and now I have this fun literal mystery box on my hands...

And you have an Indigo Rallye, that I want to see pics of :)

I’ve actually done OK buying old Hermes Watches for the leather band and selling them on with just the Sport Band. I’m with you that I’m keen to find an S5 once the S6 is out. That AOD makes the Hermes faces way more desirable IMO.

I would have posted today but the watch was activation locked so it was a whole to-do. I was kind of expecting more face colors but I guess it’s mostly the bicolor and Della Cavalleria colors. Would love a red or a feu or a fauve or a blue on a black background but I guess we have to trust Paris that it wouldn’t quite be legible.

The silver has enough blue in it and encre will probably match bleu saphir. I just love that I have the craie/bleu lin so I get to use the gradient face. Here’s a video I made of the faces, it gives you the tiniest taste of the indigo/rouge.

Hey folks silly question. Got my first Hermes watch today, s4 used off eBay. Does every box have the same label and glyph showing only that it comes with an Hermes sport band? Ie the only labels that list the leather band color and style come when you buy the bands separately?
The reason why some Hermès boxes are labeled with the “sport band only“ and some with the leather band it’s based on where did you buy them.
The Sport Band only box is provided only to the Hermès Stores. Becuase you can buy any  Watch and any Hermes band they have. It’s a whole different experience than buying it at the Apple Store. Also you wil get the Watch Box with Hermes ribbon (it’s not sealed) and also the leather band has a separate plain Hermes box (no labels)

On the other hand in the Apple Store you will get it all wraped in plastic, with labels on it and no ribbon, sometimes not even the Hermes bag.

Yeah, there is room for a few more faces - that’s what I thought about my S4. Playing with my wife’s S5 there’s only the same set, but the AOD adds another dimension. I think the gradients “rest” on pink or blue numerals on a black face for example.

I was actually really surprised by the S2. Even running the latest WatchOS 6 it only has the basic Hermes face with Argent or Orange numerals on black. It can do the different fonts and 12, 4 or 1 numerals, but the hands are always white, so it is slightly less configurable even on that face than the S4/S5.

I see. Below is from my S4, but it's the outer sleeve that held the Watch box ad the band box inside. I don't have the Watch box anymore, but my wife's S5 Watch box doesn't have a picture of the Watch at all, that's only on the outer sleeve of hers.

I guess maybe they are different in different parts of the world. My S4 is a UK version and my wife's is an Aus version.

Is the watch itself legit with Hermes watch faces?

You sold it? how much did you end up selling it for?

I bought it in January, after the S5 launched from someone who upgraded to the S5. I really bought it for the bands and because it didn’t have the AOD of the S5 I was wearing I only ever used it as a sleep tracker, replacing my SS S0. Also I’m in New Zealand, where the Hermes was only available in S2. We didn’t have an LTE provider for the Watch until December last year so we didn’t get any LTE Watch models until then, and we still don’t have Edition or Hermes (fingers crossed that changes with the S6...). Lastly here in NZ there is an eBay-like auction site called Trademe which got the predominant market share many years ago, so NZ stuff is rarely on eBay, and we don’t have any of the other sites US people are familiar with like Mercari, Craigslist etc. Oddly we don’t even have Gumtree which is prevalent in the UK even though I believe it’s original Australian. I wear 42/44mm.

So, with the caveats listed I paid NZ$800 (~US$535) for the S4 imported from the UK (so the LTE is the same as an NZ one now we have it available) in very good used condition with the Indigo/Craie/Orange band. I sold it on a few months later (because I bought a SBSS S5 Watch to alternate with my SS S5 to see how I like the black casing, and I’d also bought the bands only that came with an S3 Watch so had a second orange Sport Band). I listed it for NZ$620 (~US$415) with only the orange Sport Band and it sold quickly, so perhaps I undersold it.

It seems that Hermes Watches, when they come up in NZ, go for even less than they do in other countries - at least from my eBay listing observations. Last week I paid NZ$850 (~US$570) for an almost unused S2 NZ market Hermes with the original Fauve Barenia plus a Feu Epsom, Milanese Loop, orange Sport Band, black Classic Buckle, plus a nylon buckle and three Sport Loops (and a few non-Apple bands). I currently have that sitting at NZ$210 with a week to run in an auction, again with only the orange Sport Band.

I’m interested to know what will happen if the Hermes models become available in NZ again - I suspect used values will rise as it will become better known - most NZ buyers probably don’t know the Hermes Watch is a genuine thing, or how much it costs, as they don’t see it being sold anywhere here. Paradoxically it cost me over NZ$3,000 to get my wife a S5 38mm Hermes with a double-tour band in March as a birthday gift - I had to buy it from Apple Australia, shipped to a friend with an Aus address, and then on-shipped to me in NZ. That meant I had to pay sales tax in Australia and NZ as well as the additional shipping which wasn’t cheap with the required insurance.

What I’m reading from others is that Hermès needs to release new Hermès faces that allow 3rd party complications.

If Apple/Hermès can pull that off, I’ll upgrade from S5 to S6. I find myself using watch faces that can give me data beyond just the time.

Otherwise I’ll likely just pick up one of the new Hermès bands and sit out till the S7.

Does Hermes typically keep the previous  watch around after a new one is announced or do they just it pull it? I’m torn between buying one now that I’ve had my eye on or wait to see what new bands will be released. Thanks.

I had my 44mm Hermes SS series 4 listed for 3 weeks now and not a single serious inquiry other than one shameful low ball offer of $350.. the Hermes edition is truly a waste of money as I feared when I bought it. These things lose more than half of their retail price due to being a tech product whether it’s Hermes or not. I still love the orange Hermes watch face that is exclusive to this edition but the added health features of the upcoming series 6 as well as other features will outweigh the only? Benefit of the Hermes edition which is the beautiful luxurious watch face that I LOVE. I personally don’t even use the Hermes watch bands as I love my Milanese Loop Combo with my series 4 Hermes AW.

One must consider the fact that investing in a Hermes AW is a terrible investment because whenever a new edition of an Apple Watch comes out the older gen drops in value significantly to the point of being on par with a regular stainless steel model or even less (depending how much better the new generation AW is), the difference wasn’t big between series 4 and 5 which is why I kept my series 4 Hermes AW but the difference in Series 6 is quite significant given the new Rumored health sensors

If I recall correctly, in the past Apple has announced the new watches and the marketing material goes up immediately after the keynote. The old watches remain though when you click the buy button until they go on sale.

I would highly recommend taking screenshots of any marketing or prices for this gen if you’re wanting to compare it to the next gen.

I’m not even sure if the new gen is going to be that good. The leaks of the battery show it’s roughly the same size. The biggest issue for the AW IMO is it’s poor battery life. I tried taking my AW in hike mode on a 9+ hour hike and it couldn’t do it. Dead by hour seven.

Two points regarding the price:

1. I wish Apple would give us Hermès owners $25-$100 more for their trade in. The fact that they give us the same trade in value really hurts my soul.
2. I only sell my old watches with the box, watch body, and sport band. I always keep my leather bands and tell the potential buyers that the bands have my oils and sweat in them. Selling it this way seems more reasonable to me. I think selling an icky used leather band really holds back the price. At least you can properly clean the sport band and watch body.

Just sold my Hermès S5 noir for USD$750.
The past few years I’ve upgraded every year and the sale price is usually 50% of the original cost. I’m ok with this as I get enjoyment out of using the watch and the Hermès faces and the band for a year.

If you’re looking at good return every year you should definitely not buy the Hermès or Edition or even stainless steel for that matter.

Wow that is really low. I've never sold my Hermes watches for less than $900, and sold the S4 for $1100 upon the release of the S5. I wouldn't even sell the S5 for $750 as that's way to little an amount I'd be willing to take after one year. If I can't get at least $900 I won't bother even selling it and keep it as a spare.

Wow that is really low.
I’m in Australia so the market for the Hermès Apple Watch isn’t really there.
The last three Hermès that I sold were all around the 50-55% mark of the original cost in Australian dollars. Some would list it for more but it would just be unsold for a long period of time.

Oh, that makes sense. It stinks though that you have to take such a loss. But if you are good with it that’s all that matters.

Not really that much on eBay in regards to Apple Hermes. Hardly any used/new bands for sell. Kind of disappointing as I like to sometimes pick up previous year unused bands.

I think we talked 2 or 3 months ago about the rumored health features of the S6. Personally I really could not care less if all it gets is blood oxygen - if I cared about that I’d likely have a stand-alone sensor for it lime I do for temperature and blood pressure, but what you value isn’t for me to say.

What does surprise me is that you say you love the Hermes faces but you didn’t see the S5 as much different to the S4. The S5 has the face you love visible all the time, just like a real watch and far better than a black screen that really could be any Apple Watch so far as anybody could tell. I’ve seen a lot of people on here say that the S5 was no upgrade over the S4, but most of them are saying that from the standpoint of not having used the AOD. For me it was a game changer - it literally turned a gadget that I still owned and loved but accepted was a bit geeky into a watch.

It depends on condition of course, but speaking as a collector of Apple Watch bands I can tell you that you at 100% dead wrong; the leather band IS the value. I’ve bought two Hermes Watches used in the past year, just for the leather bands, and sold them on with only the orange Sport Band. I know I’m not alone, and I know people looking to buy them want the leather band - I have one listed now and I have had two different people trying to persuade me to include it. Perhaps if you wear the leather one every day and it really is icky then you’re right, but most I see have a band in very good condition. I have four Hermes leather bands I bought used and all of them were far from icky when I got them, and all of them are worth more than the Watch they came with IMO.
