I'm surprised they didn't instead make the Graphite an Hermes exclusive. To my eyes it's way more special and visually interesting than the SBSS. And especially as it hadn't already been previously diluted by being sold as a regular AW I think it could've been spun as the new hotness. Of course I type this as a S4 SS Hermes owner who now owns a Graphite S6 and really misses the new Hermes face that allows complications!

I have decided it is finally time to upgrade from my S0 38mm bought in 2015. I really want the Fauve double tour attelage, which is out of stock, of course. Any intel as to how often they come back in stock or an in-stock alert tracker? I’m tired of checking the Apple store daily and being disappointed.

Someone a while back asked how the Fauve ages. This is the current state of my band-the first 3 years I owned it I wore it every day. Rained on, worked out while wearing, you name it. Other than the adhesive on the one keeper loop the strap has held up great. I figured like a saddle it was made to be used.

That's my guess. Same band sizes, flat edges, so bigger display/smaller bezels/thinner(?).

I'd assume that unlike the dock connector there is too much of a marketplace for bands now that changing the lugs would blow it all up, so the S0-6 bands would fit but may not match the contours, much like how 38/42mm bands 'fit' but in the case of some, like the older nylon straps/original Hermes lugs, don't match up 100%.
If they square off the Apple Watch, I will be keeping my Series 6 for another year. The round edges of this design are what is so appealing considering it is a relatively "square" watch. Having tried Garmin on multiple occasions I've grown to appreciate the squared face as it can display more information, and Apple has finally begun to maximize the screen for rounded watch faces IMO.

I'm guessing the Graphite takes less $$ and time to darken since its not that dark. I tried the Graphite for a hot minute, but appreciate how SS can be buffed with a Cape Cod cloth and look good as new, and just love the shine and watch faces of the SS Hermes, damn me and my expensive tastes!!

Talking about watches, we quickly come across "iconic design". The brand is immediately recognized by the shape of the watch, like a Rolex or ... Hermès. A Cape Cod for instance. Now they added that new thing on top with some bands, to make the Apple version look even more like "Cape Cod". So far for the Hermès models.

A pure Apple watch is not really a precious Hermès, but has an unique design, immediately recognized by its shape. If I would be in the design team, I would absolutely vote against a major design change. The change from 3 to 4 with the more rounded edges is acceptable, it retains the look of "Apple Watch". A more drastic design change would destroy, what they created regarding a watch.
...It is not an iPhone.

Oh - Edit: Apple even designed a new kind of lugs, suitable for "plastic bands" as well for a metal adapter. Even Hermès could use it. Something unique as well. Just change everything for what reason? To make it taller? 50mm watch??

Knowing apple, I’m sure we will see an Apple Watch Pro very soon.

There’s no good argument for a ‘Pro’ Apple Watch though. No more than what the existing can already do with various apps.

Maybe more durability or waterproofness, but that’d be such a niche market.

Pro means more expensive in current Apple parlance, not geared to prosumers/working pros.

TBH I know many working graphic designers/photogs who use the entry level Air, as for 99% of people anything else is overkill. 10-15 years ago you HAD to buy a Power Mac/Book, or MBP as the consumer lines were slow POS’ for people who knew what they were doing. Now that is no longer the case Apple co-opted it as a moniker for the higher end models.

TLDR, the Apple Watch Pro is the stainless model in all but name.
