Hi everyone, your beautiful pictures (and those damn exclusive watch faces) have pushed me to want to dip my toe in the Hermès world. A few questions for the experts here.
- I managed to snag a new Fauve deployment band on eBay the other day for $400 (not the best deal I know, but still better than list price). Pictures, packaging all looked legit and seller seemed above board. What should I check for to make sure it’s a genuine band when I receive it next week? I have read about some fake Hermès bands reproducing all the markings on the underside of the band, which kind of scares me since I don’t have a genuine band to compare to. With Apple’s bands, I can easily spot a fake. But, I don’t really know what I am doing with Hermès.
- Now I need to get a watch to go with it.
- I’m set on a S6 at this point.
- What I really want is to get the watch bundled with the Noir deployment and have a black and a brown strap so I can always match my watch with my shoes. But, I’m worried that a second band (especially at the deployment price point) may push the cost of this whole thing into “marital strife” territory. I also don’t really feel like I need two nice bands since I’m hardly leaving my house right now ?.
- The other option I’m considering is buying a watch with a single tour band and then reselling the band (the Fauve deployment is the only other band aside from the Noir that I really want). Any advice on which color will be able to resell fairly close to retail? It seems like the Fauve single tour is like the black sport band of the Hermès world and sells for well under retail on eBay. But, I don’t know how other colors fare. Maybe go for something like Bambou and hold it until after new bands drop?
- Anyone have experience with this eBay seller? Set is $100 under retail with offers and pictures look legit. But the description keeps referring to a space black watch (pictures are silver) and the seller has yet to respond to my question about the discrepancy (been about 24 hours). Really wary about picking up a fake through eBay, and I am always wary of sellers who are slow to respond to questions. But it might be worth the risk if I could get the price down another $100 or so. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284240846396
- As a side question - any thoughts on how long the Noir deployment is likely to stick around? I definitely want one at some point.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
but sorry buy on the Hermes site (it is a color that is always there, but now only on the hermes site) if you have all these doubts. however it is original, everything is there and the seller puts his face on it.
if you want to buy on ebay, always look for Japanese sellers, they are the most reliable and beware of those who sell without a box.
then download the bandbreite app created by a forum user, very useful guide.
as stamps:
first line hermes paris
second row bracalet
third line made in france, without the X
first row series numbers 1 letter, 2 letters, 3 numbers
second row series numbers 2 letters centered with respect to row 1
mm strap that from at least 2020 on the new straps is no longer there and it is a shame
the bottom part is always fauve (brown)
the seams must be in the color of the strap, although here it should be noted that this is not always the case, for brown colors they are white
the buckle must have the stamps in evidence front and back
