Hello! I’m excitedly awaiting the arrival of my first Apple Watch... a 44mm SS S6 Hermès with Ébène Barénia Deployment. ?
Having spent years quietly drooling over Apple Watches, I finally decided to treat myself. And thanks largely to you guys and the hundreds of pics of gorgeous straps, gleaming watches, beautiful faces and more than a few hairy arms (and some less hairy)... I decided to take the plunge and order the model I really wanted.
Oh, @DougFNJ‘s reviews on YouTube may also have helped make up my mind re: the Hermès and Deployment strap, so if my wife kills me I’m blaming you Doug haha.
Apple said it was due Thu 1 Apr, but I checked today and the UPS shipping says it’s due Friday - yay! ? On the other hand, the shipping details say that it was in Korea this afternoon, so not sure if Friday is being optimistic...
Anyway, really looking forward to being a member of the club!

This is like no leather I’ve worn on any watch. I was a bit skeptical, and questioning myself until I put it in, then I got it. The deployment was a great decision! It’s high quality, it doesn’t pinch anywhere, no sharp points, and should preserve the leather well long term.

I like the Indigo strap quite a lot!
I like the combination a lot. Furthermore the dial. I usually only use encre and craie/indigo.

Sorry, maybe I didn’t do enough research, but apart from the straps and a few extra watch faces, there‘s nothing else that sets the Hermès apart from the „normal“ SS models, or is there?

The Hermès leather don’t fit me either so they’re out. But I will say the typefaces on the Hermès watch faces are really nice and, for me, elevate the overall appearance. Yeah, I like the faces too… but as you say, since the straps do nothing for me it‘s a bit over the top, paying just for the nice faces.
You do get an extra year of warranty like with any Edition watch but yes you’re paying a lot for the exclusive sport band and the faces. I ended up with an old s4 just to get a Rallye and was pleasantly surprised by how much I love the typography of the faces.
You are not really wrong. You get the Hermès colored sports band, two years warranty and the exclusive watchfaces. (software) It is the same with all products of luxury brands. It is for your own enjoyment (some use it to show to others...) I personally wanted to have it because I like these watchfaces, I do enjoy them and I am somewhat grateful, that I may just do it.
Don‘t get me wrong… I paid lots of money for watches in the past, that don‘t do much more than you would get done with a cheap Swatch (showing the time, that is ?). For some reason a bit of software doesn‘t ring that bell for me - although the SS case and the sapphire crystal do this quite nicely ?
