I find this discussion pretty funny. Does anyone really think the basic material cost of a few square inches of (premium) leather is even a factor in the cost of a $300-$700 watch band?!?! The cost is in the design, the dyeing, cutting, sewing, finishing, etc.

Objecting to nylon (which is also used in plastic bags and junk) you might as well also object to Steel or Aluminum for the hardware (rather than Gold or Platinum) since they're also used in bolts and washers and shims.

You're paying for design and craftsmanship, not the raw material. When I eat at the French Laundry it bothers me not at all if they use flour, which is dirt cheap, because it's an appropriate material with which to make bread, as along as great care and craftsmanship are applied to the breadmaking. Luxury goods are the same. It's a little strip of a dead cow, or fabric from a cheap and common plant, or the fur of a lamb, or the cocoon of a bug.

I'll withhold judgement on these "plastic" bands until I see them, but the introduction of more durable, non-leather, patterned Hermes bands (one with black hardware!!) is something I'm personally very excited about!

Exactly, plus to be honest, the leather Hermes bands are really really thin leather bands. So in turn, you can say they are just as overpriced. When I first got my first Hermes leather band, I was underwhelmed when I had in hands for the first time. But the quality is in the craftsmanship and the pure softness of the leather.

Again, I'm in the minority who can't wait for the nylon bands. Please don't buy them as I won't have to wait for a shipment lol

I was losing sleep last night over this /s

one thing that did come to mind, did they go with the nylon band because their leather workmen are busy with the three new AirTag leather cases?

I tend to agree, but then the side of my 3-month of leather band split. Hermès repaired it free of charge. I wasn’t expecting this to happen so quickly.

i dont like the idea of Nylon band being almost the same price as the leather BUT you cant think of high end luxury brands like Hermes to have logical price points.

I rather wait and see reviews of the Nylon before i even considering it though by the slim chance they are similar to Apple's own Nylon Woven (which is actually a low chance if Hermes is the one handling the production).

I think a lot of us try to reason our spending on Hermes bands with the tried and true fact that their leather craftsmanship is renowned and luxurious (with great customer service like above). So to have a "cheap" material being priced high insults us but to Herme's regular customers its the norm. I have two click h bracelets and those are around $600 a pop for a gold plated bracelet.

Very nice! Gold and navy blue remains a classic combination. Is this the Fall 2020 Navy or one of the older shades?
Fall 2020. It was like $170 so I just got it even though it doesn’t do much for me on white ceramic.

Now it’s home! I’ll prob move the lugs on to capucine next, then maybe fauve.

Sad that the orange and blue nylon is only in 42/44m... was really looking forward to that in 40mm! Tempted by the pink and white double tours but not sure which to go for ?

$170 is a fantastic price, used?
Nope. They apparently got the size wrong. I actually posted it here thinking it was fake because I forgot darker bands get the darker underbelly. Auction. No one bid. Just need bambou (which no new colors in spring gives me budget for) and I’ll have the whole fall rainbow, if you count Anemone Gen 1.

i would like to know the answer for this too! (for my rose epson single tour)
I love the idea of the Hermes store as this lil workshop. I wonder if there’s a miniature stable with a miniature horse chewing hay in the back. Reminds me of my aunt sitting in the back of the family rug store growing up, sneaking me oatmeal cookies (no raisins).

True...A Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag is ~$1,500 US dollars, and made of 90% coated canvas, with some leather trim and straps. Likewise, a high end full leather Coach bag (retail/boutique, not outlet) is maybe ~$500-$700, and those who are "into" leather like I am, and have owned many LV and Coach bags, as I have, would argue that the leather on the Coach bag is far superior, and the craftsmanship is at least equal, if not better than that of the Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton also makes full leather bags in addition to their coated canvas bags (~$3,000-$5,000 and up), which I have also owned, and I still think Coach leather is superior to LV leather. Bottom line is, you're paying for the name and logo of the fashion house, not the materials/workmanship alone.

I've not owned a Hermes bag, but I suspect the leather would be divine. :)
