It’s getting the benefit of the nice outdoor light bounce off my favorite little fence corner photo studio. For sure darker and more desaturated inside. Why not just order from Apple? The Hermes web operation seems to be a total dog.

the value to the watch is from Hermès not Apple, so I buy from them and then the packing is much more accurate. at Apple they still haven't figured out (after years) that the velcro case tabs need to be covered. I also don't like that the orange case is smeared with useless codes and stickers. I am old fashioned I love craftsmanship and then I love the chance of being able to choose a strap without knowing which one it is from the case.

I guess I never thought about the stickers like that. When you have [redacted] Hermes boxes like me, there’s far too many blanks. I’ve had to memorize which is which mostly using alphabetic order and a weird coffee stain on one of them.
The s4 box I have is clearly from the Hermes store as it only makes mention of the orange sport band and not the rallye.
Haha yeah I can’t stand mismatched lugs. My general feeling is that a silver watch with a band that has black hardware is passable but not ideal. But a black watch with a band that has silver hardware makes me cringe a little every time I see a picture of one. I know it’s not noticeable from a normal viewing distance like someone shaking your hand. But it would drive me absolutely crazy every time I looked at my wrist!

6 weeks in and my watch has been having serious battery issues and after 90 minutes on the phone with apple and talking to 6 different people I can send the watch back to get a refund (I said I would just purchase a new one) however the Rouge Piment strap is no longer available. If I went through apple care it would have counted as an incident. So I will wait to see if it turns up on eBay.
So, before I hit the purchase button can anyone tell me what strap I could get that would be easy enough to sell on that would allow me to buy the Red at a later date? I have 2 other Hermes straps so not too bothered about getting another one just now.

Feels like you could turn a tidy profit grabbing one of the new double tours and playing the long game. Alternately…there’s no other new leather band colors, so that’s kind of your only option as who knows what the resale value on the jumping bands will be. Maybe scour completed listings and see if double tours actually sell for these high figures people try to sell them at. Blanc is such a rare color, but rose Mexico feels like it will be just as sought after once it’s discontinued.
I'm thinking definitely leather as too soon to gauge the nylon ones. Likely to be a double tour as the single tours on offer just now aren't that appealing. You know I actually considered getting an extra Rouge band and then talked myself out of it as I thought I won't ever need it as will rotate them to lessen wear and tear. Oh how I regret that now!
I didn’t even realize it was done in 40mm, as I focused my 40mm buy on Ambre. I’d love to see that once your nightmare is over. Sounds slick. I have it in the big size.

Unless you're sorely in need of a new watch right now, you might want to wait as the S7 should be out this Fall. My rule of thumb with Apple is never to buy after the 1/2 way point of the product year cycle because I know myself well enough to know that I'll want the next model regardless.
That said, if there's a band you 100% want you could just buy the band now and use it with a future S7.
You can still get the S6 and then S7 few months later. I just got a S6 Hermes recently to complement my S5 ceramic.
As for the band, well you never know if the existing bands will fit the future models!
I don’t think I could ever choose between the rallye series and the della cavalleria set
The etain/beton della cavalleria strap is breathtaking. So chic and elegant. It will be difficult for Hermés to top it!
Could I see a photo of the Ambre please when you have time please?
I rang Hermes and they found a Rouge band in one of their London stores (phew!)
I asked if they had any others in the 40mm and they had Ambre and Anemone, so considering another one

Never! I have three 40mm and two 44/42mm. White ceramic is my “baby Hermes.” I’ve learned to live with the silver-on-white lug look. The 40mm exclusives make it easy to justify. While 40mm is plenty big for my wrist, I really want a 42mm in the new style, it’s really the perfect combination of screen size and wrist-fitment. 44mm is a boyfriend watch for me.
Now I just need to get my hands on the usb cable and an ongoing source for the Hermes firmware!

I keep saying tomorrow etc. delivery time is pretty extended right now - into late June.
Wondering if most of you purchase the additional apple care plus? That’s an additional third year, correct? I don’t know if it’s worth it for protection on a watch that might not have as many bells and whistles as a newer model.
