Feels like the Hermès faces are not as tightly maintained by Apple as the other ones. The always-on mode of the Hermès faces still looks dimmer than the rest of the faces and now they don’t really use the extended space properly. I know, I know, the new faces have a background color and they highlight the smaller bezels but still.

For first time buyers of a Hermes AW, do you feel the additional cost over a SS version is justified? whether that be through feel, visual aesthetics or something else?
Not a first time buyer, but to be honest, for me it's mostly that I got so used to the Hermes Circulaire watch face that I can't buy a watch without it anymore. 😅 I don't even use the leather bands often because I prefer Apple's solo loops.
That makes sense, I'm waiting for mine to arrive and I think the Hermes faces are easily the most visually appealing.

I sell on my Hermes watch on Ebay every year when I upgrade. When the watch bands are still new or as new you get back a big chunk of your investment, which makes the new watch a lot cheaper.
I am a first time Hermes user and that has become my go to face now - once my rings are closed and I have finished work I change to the Basic Hermes face with 'just' the time & date

Pretty much what I have on 95% of the time unless I switch my bands out and then I match the band to the face. Here it is on my series 7 and 6 (dark cherry has my former series 6 which is now on its way to another former member who bought it).
I’ve been wearing Hermes since the Series 4 and for me its worth it. I also upgrade every year and sell my previous year. I’m especially jazzed this year with the larger size as I always wanted my watch a little larger.
Its also the only way to get Space Black now which I also like.
I will also echo what was said above. I only wear the Circulaire face and black Hermes numbers face. I also enjoy their bands very much. I wish they made more with black lugs but oh well.
For me it’s deffo the bands though. Love the heritage, craftmanship and brand.

45mm Noir/Bleu Electrique appears sold out today on Hermes website and it has been sold out on Apple’s in Los Angeles. I am so glad I did not hesitate and ordered it from Hermes after I waited too long and it was gone from Apple Store.
Mine (45SS Craft/Lime) arrived today from Hermes by Fedex, a day sooner than the tracking had indicated.
The band is growing on me. The craft is subtle. Maybe even too subtle. But the lime is a great.
Watch is syncing now.

From Apple/Hermès you can‘t because they officially don‘t exist. Chargerstore on ebay had a few “full sets“ including both lengths from time to time, though.
I'm interstate in this too - my L orange sports fits, but S/M is my normal size

Interesting that you ask. I also have the blue/black jumping (something/noir...can't recall the Hermes color names) which I wore as my DD with my S6 in Graphite SS (aside: still the case color and material I wish they'd have made an Hermes exclusive).
The black/blue one is definitely stiffer. And, the corner of the buckle that sits closest to your skin (if you wear it on your L wrist and look at it with your palm facing you, it's the upper-right corner of the buckle) is very problematic on my black/blue. So much so that I had to wear the black/blue on the second to smallest hole whereas with the Kraft/lime it's totally comfortable on the smallest. Something about how sharp the corner is on the black/blue and/or the way it sits - it digs in in an uncomfortable way. Not so on the Kraft/lime. Maybe SS is just "softer" somehow than SBSS.
ETA: I showered with my black/blue for the entire year and it's fine.
