Yeh im the same it would drive me crazy that the end bits of teh band won't match the colour to the Watch.
I wish more Hermes bands had the Space Black ends.

I wish more Hermes bands had the Space Black ends.
I think if you buy at a Hermès store you can't return or at best you'll get store credit. With their website their policy could be different, so there's that to consider.
Good call. I did check, and they do offer refunds within 30 days via prepaid return shipping. In-store return is store credit only.
It's 'complimentary', hence why it's prepaid.

So looks like Watches cannot be returned if opened/paired. This is good information, as Apple will take back items once opened.
I ended up ordering from the Hermès site, and will cancel whichever order does not ship before the other. I know I'm set on this watch/band combo, so it's no issue for me.
I have space black and I like the way my bands with the silver hardware look better than with the black. It especially makes my bright bands pop.
The black watch doesn’t really read as a black watch. It reads more like one seamless face. Oh! Unless of course you’re using full color watch faces (which I tend not to).
Today my SBSS Hermes will arrive! 🤩
The only downside I have is that it doesn't come with the sport orange Hermes band, but with a black one.
Does anyone know if the black band is different from the standard black band apart from the Hermés pin? Is it more black perhaps?
I'm thinking of getting an orange one on eBay, would anyone have a picture of the SBSS with the orange band to see what it looks like / match? 👀

It might not be possible anymore but you should be able to call Apple support and buy a replacement. I got a black for my silver.
Black 40 and Orange 44 did become cheaper and more available at one point this year at least in USA, seemingly because they had the old numbers and apple dumped them.
Also Chargie has orange with a custom black pin, I own this band and it is hawt stuff

In my opinion the black sport band is exactly the same on colour and look with the normal Apple Sport band with the only difference being like you say the black Pin and that it says Hermes at the back of the pin.

The Hermès Black band is the blackest band as it’s a little darker than the 1st gen black sport band.

Had to get the slate blue. Finally my favourite colour in my favourite band style. Have always loved the northern blue and last year the bleu lin but this combination now is a dream. 😍

That’s a big difference between the two sport black bands. Once next to each you can really see how much more dark the Hermes one is.
Are you sure that’s a G1 black? The shape of the lugs makes it look like it’s from the 40/44 mm era, which would make it a G2.
I didn't say what generation it is, I don't go that far. It's a black strap that Apple sells without being Hermés.
Ah ok I misread. Yeah Apple made the regular black sport band much more of a dark grey starting in 2018 with the series 4 watches. Looking at your picture, I think that’s what you have and it is definitely much lighter than the Hermes black. The original black sport band sold from 2015-2017 was much closer to the Hermes black.
That makes sense, maybe they want to reserve this shade and Hermes exact orange tone for this watch only?
Apple Watch bands look different under different lighting conditions. Attach a better understanding of physics.
