This is why I like Apple. Their stuff is not cheap, but (most of the time) best-in-class and you do get what you pay for. Luxury brands basically just exploit your psychological weaknesses.

Thinking about it, this makes the partnership between Apple and Hermès really quite strange. Don’t get me wrong, the Hermès straps for the Watch are really nice (and actually some of the „cheapest“ Hermès items you‘ll ever find), but the brand values are vastly different. I would bet this cooperation was, just like the 18K gold Watches, a fancy Jony Ive idea that Tim Cook would just go along with to keep Jony happy. I don‘t think you‘d ever see Tim Cook (or for that matter Steve Jobs, if he was still alive) wear an Apple Watch with an Hermès strap.

Watch the movie “Triangle of Sadness”

These extreme luxury brand workers are taught to look down on their customers. Doing so causes a reaction where you feel a need to prove a point. That point is often buying more from them.

Also, a frequent shopper at Hermes will not care about transparency of $90.

Not saying any of this is right from the customer service to lack of transparency but it seemingly is part of the ultra luxury brand experience. And Hermes is often considered in the top two of the French luxury houses.

Edit: And if you don’t want to watch a 2 hour movie, then check out this video.

Not knocking anyone who enjoys Hermes’ products but sharing some things I’ve learned recently.
Thanks for the video, the pretty lady effect is shocking… why would anyone do that to themselves, how degrading.

definitely makes me think. I would never buy a designer handbag or watch, but Apple Watch bands seems a “fair cost” compared to the actual handmade hours of real artisan (if you are thinking of the leather bands). But it does make me pause on buying any more. Do I need more than one or two nice leather bands? Why did I buy this jumping band?? Is it actually that much better than apples nylon bands or did I buy it because it was Hermes?

I think I’m going to stop buying any more Hermes bands or bands in general for now. We will see if I cave to a new style later. (Probably a rallye coming out for 41mm would make me cave).

Cheers

Haven't posted here in a while. Here's how I wear mine more casually sometimes - I think this watch face goes quite well with the braided solo loop.

And this is how it tends to be in the Hermes strap:

And I wear it with the included Hermes orange band every now and then. I've settled on this watch face. Sometimes I use the blue one, sometimes the grey with orange, and sometimes the grey (as pictured). I just wish they would update it to be a bit brighter in always on display mode. If you compare it to standard Apple Watch faces it's actually very dark in AOD mode.

It's the best face, and it's the only Hermes one I can put my Outlook calendar gadget on so it's perfect for work days.

I like Hermes in-general, their makeup products are good and people at the boutiques in Paris are professional and excellent to deal with. My only Apple Watch complaint for such a progressive brand, they are dead set that certain colors only belong on 41mm.

Do you think we will get a new Hermes Watchface with IOS 17? I am on the Watchos 10 b1, and there isn't a new watch face. Does Apple usually release new Hermes watch faces in later betas?

IIRC Lucky Horse didn’t show up until the final beta/GM of watchOS 9 dropped the day they announced the new watches last fall.

I wonder if it will be removed in a future beta/release as there must have been a reason they didn't add them.

Maybe the Hermes partnership is ending?
I’m going to throw my opinion in and it’s to squash this rumor.

Brands are highly protective of their image. If the partnership was ending, Hermes 100% would maintain that their name cannot be used near Nike.

IMO, Hermes appears to have had a change of heart and allowed Nike faces.

I also think there is still a 20% chance this was done by accident and we could see it removed before RC.

That would be fabulous! We would finally have one Watch with all faces.

Yeah, but right now Hermès Watches are the only ones that didn‘t already get the Nike faces.

It's not as simple as just adding the Hermes models as an available option.

Yeah, it's hard to say at the moment if Apple got the okay to include Nike's branding inside a watch product that they also sell. But can also see Apple getting approval because Hermes gets more exclusivity. Of course there is also the Nike Run Club integration that's been available for all since S2.

Maybe Hermes is partnering with Nike. 😉

That would be shocking since Hermes has tons of their own athletic items.
As do Louis Vuitton and Dior who have partnered with Nike in the past. Someone mentioned earlier that even the Apple Hermes partnership was strange, but both Apple and Nike make functional and fashionable products that cater to a wide range of tax brackets. It's not that far fetched that luxury brands would support a partnership that would allow their customers to have high end versions of things they already love.

The only reason I don't have a Hermes Space Black watch right now is because they didn't have the Nike watch faces. I'll wait until the official release of Watch OS 10 and the Series 9 before hoping back into the SBSS watches.

Hi everyone!
Just got a hermes band for the first time, very excited, it feels so nice!
I was wondering if anyone else's came with some slight blemishes (I didn't really notice it until the wife pointed it out), and if that was expected because it was natural leather, or if it was something I should ask for a replacement for.

I know it seems kind of small- I was really excited to start wearing it, told my wife in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, but she said if it was the same price as a watch she thought it would have no discoloration/blemishes so was trying to see if anyone else had anything similar and if that was to be expected!

I would say that this would fall under a typical appearance scenario as the leather is a natural material, it isn't machine-made plastic. One of the whole points of having the Hermes bands is to have them develop their signature patina over time. It will inevitably gain more markings (however subtle) that in essence make it all the more "yours"

On a similar-note, I took my single tour leather band in to an Hermes boutique this past week asking about the sides of the leather beginning to lack the leather binding (unsure of the official term for this) and the store clerk said that it was a completely normal and expected occurrence. Furthermore, they couldn't "repair" such a thing as it fell outside of their aftercare program.

If you are that concerned about such a small marking (not to be rude) then I would highly advise you return it, if you still can, and get another band that is made out of a fundamentally more durable material.

It's not too big a deal to me! I'm excited to wear it, just my wife was on the "it should be immaculate" boat so I was trying to check to see if she was right or not, it is very small and I'm sure it'll get scuffed a lot more than that with me having it!

That sucks for the single tour band- so there was no way for them to fix that fray/unbinding at all? :( How long did you have it for if you don't mind me asking

I also asked a few weeks ago in a Hermes store whether they can fix the wax sealing at the side and they told me it is possible, but they would need to send it in to Paris for this and it would take a month

Just got a ENCRE/BÉTON single tour on ebay coz I couldn't afford it 4 years ago and Hermes doesn't sell it anymore. It came with the soft cloth but no orange box. Does it look geniune to you guys? For comparison, I added my Noir/Bleu Électrique Circuit H Single Tour (always at bottom) purchased from Apple Store. The only thing I noticed is "STAINLESS STEEL" on the BÉTON seems shallower.

Also for the code on the band, is it like serial# unique to every single band or it may be the same if two identical bands come from the same artisan? Thanks for all your help!
