Apple Support also claims that the silver finish is in fact, a PVD coating. No link could be provided with this information, so take it for what it’s worth. If true, it would mean a more durable finish that cannot be polished.
It's not. Hermes is a non-coated silver achieved by a simple polished titanium. That's the color that titanium is after polishing, to PVD coat it would just cost more and not give you any noticeable difference anyway.

I haven’t logged in here in a loonnng time. But every year im hopeful of getting an apple watch and specifically would love a hermes but i always feel like its a bit of a let down. I feel like the leather options were so much better a few years ago. Now that the features and technology is there the straps are so mid to me. Not to mention the terrible depreciation on the watches which is downright sad. The black ultra looks pretty sick but of course there is no hermes option for that. I dunno maybe too picky.
I agree Hermes is expensive for most people, however there are multiple ways to look at this. One, you have the folks here who simply make enough money to justify it. Hermes is a luxury brand, after all. Two, you have the people who will save up for it, because to a select few weird people (myself included) the Hermes Apple Watch is somewhat of a dream to be chased. Three, you can look for one secondhand or on sale. There's going to be a decent number soon here in the next few months, mostly after Christmas. Unwanted gifts will hit eBay for 50-70% MSRP. Lastly, you can wait until the next model comes out, where you'll run into people like Dstopsie who will sell their old one to upgrade for real real cheap.

I own an Hermes watch, but mine's a Series 7, and it's got a pretty ugly nick in it exposing the silver stainless underneath the DLC coating. The age and the blemish are the reason I got a pretty good deal, only paying $300 or so for the watch, band, and box. I'm with you, I'd like an Hermes Series 10, but the price is out of my range, and I understand not seeing much bang for your buck. I'll get an Hermes s10, eventually, but I'll be buying one at minimum a year from now when we start seeing those $500 deals.

As for the leather bands, yeah, I'm not really a fan of the fabric and nylon bands. For Hermes, they look cheap to me, and I think the majority of that admittedly baseless opinion is just that I think they look ugly. I prefer leather as it's a more traditional and luxurious band, but these days it's slim pickings. Thankfully most old leather bands will still interface well with the 42/46mm Series 10 and can be used no problem. Bonus is that those older bands are pretty cheap on eBay and similar resell sites if you know where to look.

All this to say, you can get an Hermes watch, even if it's not the newest one. Dip your toes in the water. Shop around. Nearly 10 years of Hermes Apple Watches means there's plenty of Hermes to choose from.

I’m having second thoughts now though in that I really am considering the natural titanium Apple Watch with that titanium Milanese band (the one “meant” for the ultra). I feel that Milanese bacon looks super unique, I do like the slight earthy tone of the natural titanium esp since its polished this year, and worry that my Hermes buckles (some kilim, some leather) may not match. I would get that titanium Milanese separately but feel that that the titanium Milanese band may look out of place with the “silver titanium” Hermes watch. I also already have 3 kilim bands and, other than the Beton kilim, I’m not really crazy about the other Hermes bands offered this year. Also I am thinking if the Hermes watch faces are worth the $400 premium in this case.
I have the insane hope to one day have one of every stainless (and titanium now i guess) color option ever released with its accompanying link bracelet and milanese loop. I've got Graphite, Gold 1, Gold 2, and Silver, though my silver is pretty outdated so I'll be looking at a S9 (or S10 Hermes maybe?)

Natural and Slate both look awesome and I'll undoubtedly be looking to grab one of each in the distant future. I think the one I'm going to hunt down closer to launch though is the new gold titanium. It's an awesome in between color of the two gold stainless generations, and that matching link bracelet is a winning combo.

Don't need to limit yourself to one watch, that's why Apple gives us 5 pairing slots. Grab one, decide later on if you still want the other, then hit up eBay or the MacRumors Marketplace to find the other one. That's my plan.

LOS ANGELES BABY!!
Just noticed mine’s also being prepped for shipping, same watch and band!

I am excited since, while I’ve had a bunch of Hermes bands that I’ve bought in the past, I’ve always paired it with a non-Hermes stainless steel s7 watch, which I no longer have, or now an ultra watch more recently. The ultra watch I’m getting rid of either way since it’s too big and too bulky and I charge my watches every night regardless of how good the battery life of these watches is.

I’m having second thoughts now though in that I really am considering the natural titanium Apple Watch with that titanium Milanese band (the one “meant” for the ultra). I prefer the look of the polished silver which is unique to the Hermes series 10. I don’t particularly care for putting Hermes bands on non Hermes watch.

Im looking to get my first Apple Watch Hermes but want a leather band so will buy direct from Hermes. However, I’m a little underwhelmed by the strap options for men. Aside from eBay do you have any recommendations of where I can source a preowned band?

Are you sure about that? Then why call the regular S10 colour "natural"?

Natural is PVD. Silver is not PVD. As @athousandbands put it, polishing titanium takes away most of that warmth. (Pretty sure Ultra is anodized in some way to give it that boosted color too.) Take a look at those polished Ultra watches on eBay and you’ll see what i mean, the warmth disappears almost entirely.

For those who have downloaded the beta RC, is the new beton color available for the older faces like Cape Cod, Clipper, Espace, Carrick and Circuit H? I think that color and font combinations would look fantastic with most of the leather bands.
I’ve never heard those what faces. The only one I recognized is Circuit H.

Still here on my SSS7. In my experience the watchface team isn’t organized or polished enough to be taking away options, they just kind of build up over time. Except the Volt option on non-nike faces.

I would not recommend getting on the RC. Annoyingly the crown just doesn’t work to bring up the Smart Stack/notification center sometimes.

That’s not the Noir watch face.

This is the noir watch face.

Hi

Saw my name mentioned here about selling my watch to upgrade for real real cheap as you put it.

I sincerely hope your comment is not a dig at me.

Selling it is not so I can upgrade for real real cheap as you put it as am more than able to purchase it without the funds from its sale. I sell it in the hopes that someone else who wants the Hermes Apple Watch can purchase it at a substantial cost savings and I hope they can enjoy wearing it as much as I did for the year I had it. I take really good care of my items and have never had anything I have sold returned by any buyer, EVER and I have been selling online since 1997. I have MacRumors forum members who are repeat buyers of my items because of how I care for them. In fact one forum member has bought my iPhone every year for the last 8 years. In addition I don’t need to hold onto prior Series watches when I buy the new one, which I will always do. Trading it back to Apple is a joke, so why not sell it so that someone else can enjoy it??? I’m not charging an arm and a leg for it, if you have ever seen my posts for its sale, it’s the same price year after year, after year.

that's interesting - i didn't know that polishing will take away the warmth. Does that mean polishing will make the colour very similar to stainless steel? I guess we'll only know when the watches are released and/or reviews are out but do you think the colour will be exactly like the stainless steel or a bit warmer?

I have an S7 titanium and I do actually love the colour. it seems the natural ti colour this year is a tad warmer / darker than the ultra/s7 titanium. I'm considering going with Hermes this year but undecided.

Sorry if that's how you interpreted my post. I maybe could have phrased it better. I meant Stoutman11 can wait for a new watch to be released (Like the Series 10) and look to find someone whos wanting to upgrade and buy their old watch for really really cheap.

While I personally think upgrading every year is redundant, I still find it honorable that you sell off your old one at such a low price for others to enjoy. I see listings for $900 on eBay that don't even include a band, so your annual tradition is a breath of fresh air.

Again, I apologize if you took my comments the wrong way.

It's best to think of "Natural" as a name rather than an adjective. I think that's the confusion people have. Titanium's natural color is not Apple's "Natural Titanium" Series 10.

Back in the old days, the Apple faces weren't too good, but I think they've narrowed the gap and since we both have a collection of the better straps, the Hermes straps, I'm thinking of getting a regular series Ti, but want to see polished Ti in-person, if that's possible . . . perhaps at a Apple Flagship Store, to decide.

I got an early S9 so I have the Blood Oxygen and I believe S9 will be getting all the new features like sleep apnea, etc. All S9 is missing is the thinner body and the bigger screen.

Last year's iPhone 15 Pro/Max white had a PVD coating to give it the silver look. In fact they all had a PVD coating but the natural was the same colour as natural titanium and is there for a bit of protection.
Definitely likely the Hermes is PVD coated too as it is not the colour of natural titanium, polished or otherwise.

Whether the natural titanium standard S10 is PVD coated for protection, we'll see when it's in people's hands. I expect it will be as polished titanium tarnishes over time, that's why most rings, watches, etc. are brushed or bead blasted to give it a matte finish.

I have the early S9 too, so hoping those new features are enabled as well! From all the media I've seen, I can't visually detect the thinner body, but the larger screen also appears to have thicker bezels than the S9. I like the thinner bezels of my S9, even with a slightly smaller screen, but just my preference.
