So, I wanted to get some opinions - I currently have the Faubourg Party band which I think is fun, but quite expensive for a textile band. I like it well enough, but am considering switching it out for the Noir Clou de Selle leather band that is currently available. I saw it this past weekend here at a local Hermes store and was reminded how nice the Hermes leather are (I do have a few already), and with the Clou de Selle accent, the black looked really nice! I already have the Brown clou de selle from the prev releases and it is beautiful, however the brown does have some really nice accents and additional stitching not there in the noire version.

I was trying refrain from buying bands this generation, but the fun/exclusive nature of the Faubourg got to me. I would like to avoid buying both, but perhaps I may at some point. Just curious, which of the two would you guys prefer if you had to choose one, just wanted a 3rd party opinion since my wife has requested I not bother her again for the 30th time about this lol.

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster here:

I have a question regarding the Beton Radial watch face date complication (right side, replacing the number 3). The Beton Radial watchface is my favorite, but this is driving me nuts.

The frame is supposed to be bright orange when the display is active, and dark muted orange when in passive always-on-mode.

This frame around the date seems to be buggy on my Series 11. Sometimes, everything works as intended. Often, when the watch wakes up (tap or movement), the frame stays dark (see picture). Only once you interact with the watch again (button press, turning the crown etc.) the frame turns bright orange as intended. Once the watch changes back to AoD, it then stays bright orange and does not darken down.

Has anyone noticed this? Is there a tweak or a workaround to correct this?

That’s a hard one! If I really had to choose between those two I’d go for the Clou de Selle.. perfect all rounder with the little extra. But you’ll miss the Faubourg Party if you would get rid of it;)

Was thinking the same re Clou de selle being a great all rounder band, since I actually dont have an all-black leather band for my apple watch after all these years (closest I have is the noir/bleu 'e' motif leather band from a few gens ago and the all black kilim).

But I see your gist with that last thought as well, ha ;)

The Beton color has been buggy since day one. I think most of us are still experiencing the quirky behavior with the orange date border that you've described. I love the color concept, but the contrast could be better, at least on my S9. I wish the Beton background color was a little darker. To my eyes, it doesn't seem much different than the white face. Same with the hollow Cape Cod numerals. I wish they were a little darker and bolder to pop against the light background.

The solid background Beton color has been buggy ever since it was first available in watchOS 11. watchOS 26 fixed the complication slot being illegible but the date window appearance is still buggy. I wrote a more detailed post about it here when watchOS 26 came out earlier this year. Nothing to be done except hope one day Apple and Hermes care enough to fix it.

Sorry if I am missing a point, but please enlighten me: What possesses someone to pay obviously double the price when it is a not hidden fact that the Hermès editions are mechanically identical to their standard counterparts—they run the same chips, offer the same display, health tracking, performance, and features?

Can a leather band and a software watch face (not diamond or gold) and an orange card box really justify all the fuss and money? It’s not ironic to ask, “What possesses someone to pay obviously double the price?”

If we're talking about leather goods, Hermès is unbeatable—expensive, but first class. But here, it is only a watch band (probably) from Hermès, and the orange box. (does Hermès manufacture boxes?) - The rest is from Apple (which is able to sells silicone watch bands for £49). It’s a serious question. (forgot…. Hermès is selling/providing Silicon and Fabric Bands as well)

Myself, I got a Watch 6 for the health functions, etc., and I am very happy with all the info I can gather for a heart problem which I have developed. (I am now 73 years of age and you have to have something when you are old) - The last heart report I printed out was extremely helpful and led to the decision that I will not have to use a pacemaker—and that is a genuine reason to buy an Apple Watch. As a “babe magnet,” it is totally unusable. I am furious that this kind of watch runs only a day on a battery charge, and without the health app, I would not consider an Apple Watch…

For everyone the answer will be a bit different but it will be the same argument for many items. Why buy a rolex, or cartier when a casio gives you the same time? why buy an hermes bag, when you can get the same utility (you touched on excellent leather quality but you get excellent leather through other means too).

for me, the answer is it brings me a tiny bit of joy when I see the horse face on my watch. I love the design of the band. i use Kilim bands and i personally think is designed so well. I love it. The thing i'm specifying is that I, specifically me, love it. I have not bought it to show off. For one thing normal people out there have no clue you're wearing an Hermes Apple Watch. I couldn't care less what they think. That being said, it does look a tiny bit more special. But personally I love it.

I am also into tech. so I enjoy having an Apple Watch. I have a series 10, and I enjoy having the health info. If it comes with a nicely designed band and a nice stainless steel colour - then I think why not? If your budget allows it, it's a personal choice. I'm not suggesting someone racks up debt for it but if you love it, and can afford it why not?

Well said. The tl;dr for me is that I derive enough joy from the Hermès watch for it to be worth the price.

Not to mention that with the Series 10 and 11 the housing of the Hermés Watch ist the Stainless Steel Silver colour (same as previous models) and not the Titanium Silver (Series 10/11), which is a hue darker. For those who already own Hermés leather bands and care about the matching colour, this is usually a huge extra.

I get your critical question, but some of the “facts” it’s based on aren’t entirely correct — especially the idea that you’re “paying double for the same thing.”

1) It’s not a fair comparison if you start from aluminium

A lot of people compare the Hermès to a standard aluminium Apple Watch. But that’s apples to oranges:

  • Aluminium scratches more easily (both the case and the glass) and is meant as the entry-level model.
  • Titanium / (previously) stainless steel is a higher tier in terms of finishing and durability, with sapphire glass and a case that holds up much better to everyday wear.

2) Hermès is always titanium — so you should compare it to titanium

An Hermès Apple Watch S11 is always titanium. If you compare it to a regular Apple Watch Series 11 in titanium with a decent band, the price difference isn’t “double the price,” it’s more of a premium.

  • A titanium Series 11 is around €899 (depending on the configuration).
  • With a premium band (e.g., the link bracelet) you’re closer to €1149.
  • An Hermès starts around €1449 and always comes with a solid band.

So we’re talking a few hundred euros, not “2x the price.”

3) So what are you actually paying for?

Not extra chips or extra sensors — that’s true — but for things that do have value to some people:

  • The Hermès band(s) and the overall finishing/design (and yes, there are also silicone and textile options, but the design + branding is still Hermès).
  • Uniqueness and recognisability for people who know, without being loud or attention-seeking.
  • The unboxing experience and positioning as a fashion/luxury item: less “just a smartwatch” and more “a piece of jewellery that also happens to be a smartwatch.”
  • A specific execution/finish: the Hermès also stands out (as you said) for details like the high-gloss polished silver titanium look that you don’t see on every titanium variant.

4) Status? Yes — but not only that

You can call it “status,” but for many buyers it’s mainly: I wear this every day, so I choose something that feels better, is finished more beautifully, stays looking good longer, and is just a bit more unique.

In short:

If you start from an aluminium Apple Watch, it looks “ridiculously expensive.” But if you compare it to a titanium Apple Watch with a proper band, the gap is much smaller — and that premium goes to materials, finishing, design and exclusivity, not extra features.

For me it’s a hobby: collecting all different Hermès bands.. usually I wear mechanical watches but sometimes an Hermès Apple Watch, just for the joy with moving watchfaces and some variety. It’s fun and the bands and those few very nice watchfaces make a huge difference imo!

so i have my Hermes Series 11 for about 2 months - and i have managed to get a decent deep scratch on the crystal. I don't have apple care plus as i change my watch every year.

I am planning to have it changed ( in london ) I don't mind to pay. would they change on the screen or they give a new watch?

cheers.

BTW - this is the first apple watch I have scratch from the first Hermes Apple watch.
