Heck no, and this is coming from someone who used to upgrade multiple times per year when I was using Android phones. I think it was more tempting to get the latest and greatest Android phone because there’s a lot of variety and differences between different brands, but an iPhone is still an iPhone every year, and the experience just doesn’t change much, so it’s a lot harder to get me excited about an upgrade. Once I switched back to iPhone, I went from iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone X, but am just now getting an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and even after 3 years I had doubts about whether I should upgrade yet. I think the most noticeable change will come from me moving to the larger model, not from the improvements they’ve made over 3 years. I have a feeling I’ll be keeping the 12 Pro Max for 4 years. Phones are becoming more like computers, with a much slower rate of improvement. I’ve had my MacBook Pro for 5 years and I’m still perfectly happy with it.

Kept my XS Max two years, and I'd have kept it maybe a third had I not been having some annoying Bluetooth issues.

I think I'd upgrade next year if they got rid of the notch, added touchId and/or Pencil support. Otherwise, I might end up keeping the 12 PM for at least two years.

Pro Max has fewer syllables than Ess Pro Max

11 Pro Max: 5 syllables
13s Pro Max: 5 syllables

like I said, 11 and 13 same number of syllables (3).

At the end of the day, these numbers are getting a bit stupid. I understand why Apple uses them, but I wish they were gone and the names cleaned up in general.

Even when the Pro Max first came out (with the Xs), and Xs Pro Max was joked around about sound like ‘tennis pro match’. In hindsight though Max now makes sense with being the opposite end of mini, which they’ve used a lot.

Now I know: To avoid the unlucky “13”, the 2022 iPhones will be “iPhone BD” — for baker’s dozen. You heard it here first. ;)

What is the big deal about USB C? I have an iPad Pro and I plugged a DSLR into it one time to get some pictures...since then I only use it for charging. I really can’t think of good reasons why I would want to plug hard drives into my phone either with all this cloud storage available (again, except for once in a blue moon).

I’m getting a 12 Pro and will be quite satisfied for some time. There will be camera improvements in future iPhones, and 5G won’t drain the battery as much, but nothing that really changes your experience on a phone for me. I won’t use a stylus/pencil on a phone, and 120hz doesn’t make a big difference to me. “Portless” isn’t a feature to me - maybe they’ll increase the battery size in response, but otherwise the phone doesn’t do anything new.

I would like a non-glass back - loved the 5C. I would also like Touch ID for the relatively few situations when I’m out and wearing a mask. And a punch hole type notch or no notch would be cool, but not that big of a deal. 5G and a new modem was the biggest upgrade that will actually make a difference for me.

Not as stupid as Intels numbering scheme lol. We shall see if AMD matches their ways too😁

The syllables thing made me think of that video where you gotta say coca cola without touching your lips omg :D

Lack of notch would definitely do it for me, and possibly both touch and face ID, depending on how its implemented. Other than that, I can’t say, although I have upgraded pretty much every year up to this point.

Truthfully, had I not gotten to the point of feeling like the 11 was just too big/heavy of a phone, and played musical phones earlier this year, I don’t think I would’ve gotten the 12. I liked the 11 a lot until I used something smaller, but then the SE2 was just a bit too small for me, and I wound up with the 12.

I upgrade every year. I have had every iphone made since the beginning.....

I’m not planning to no. I plan to keep my 12 Pro Max for a couple of years. That said, I do usually upgrade every year so who knows?

Only if they make a Mini Pro, which they won't. So probably not.
I usually do upgrade every year, but I'm not sure what Apple could do (other than the above) to get me personally to upgrade next year to what would likely be the same device (that I'd notice with my usage anyway).

Depends on next years model and it's upgrade.

Also if it will have a design change.

Does the bear sh*t in the woods? Is the Pope Catholic? Of course, for the same monthly cost, AT&T Next, I will always upgrade to latest iPhone. Dahhhhh.......

Going to keep my iPhone 11 Pro 256gb and iPhone 12 Pro Max 256gb for 3-4 years better wow factor by doing this....
I tend to keep my sim free phones by doing this each year is costly..

I remember I went from iPhone 6 to iPhone X what a upgrade that was over the moon...

I’ve bought the newest iPhone ever since I bought the 5S (had the 3G and 4 before then) so yes most likely will buy the 13/13 Pro.
