Heck no, and this is coming from someone who used to upgrade multiple times per year when I was using Android phones. I think it was more tempting to get the latest and greatest Android phone because there’s a lot of variety and differences between different brands, but an iPhone is still an iPhone every year, and the experience just doesn’t change much, so it’s a lot harder to get me excited about an upgrade. Once I switched back to iPhone, I went from iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone X, but am just now getting an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and even after 3 years I had doubts about whether I should upgrade yet. I think the most noticeable change will come from me moving to the larger model, not from the improvements they’ve made over 3 years. I have a feeling I’ll be keeping the 12 Pro Max for 4 years. Phones are becoming more like computers, with a much slower rate of improvement. I’ve had my MacBook Pro for 5 years and I’m still perfectly happy with it.
