No idea. Is something revolutionary? If not, it will come down to financials and upgrade options. If it’s not compelling, current phone should last years.

Going to keep the iPhone 12 Pro Max for several years. My 6S+ lasted me 5 years so I suspect the 12 Pro Max will be the same. The great thing about waiting more then one year to upgrade, the improvements make it worth upgrading, at least for me anyways.
Same with me. I still have my iP7 and hasn't decided if I buy the 12PM as after upgrading to 14.2 my 7 runs smooth and well again.

Kept my XS Max two years, and I'd have kept it maybe a third had I not been having some annoying Bluetooth issues.

I think I'd upgrade next year if they got rid of the notch, added touchId and/or Pencil support. Otherwise, I might end up keeping the 12 PM for at least two years.
Why not get a mini? :D “Think different.”

Funny to hear people say I'll upgrade for sure if it has USB-C but I'm not upgrading from the 11 to 12 because the changes were not big enough. 🤣

I never decide until I know what the phone specs are. Can’t know if it is worth upgrading this far in advance.

If the 13 is lighter and includes all the rumored features so far, sure. If weight is nearly identical, then I’ll wait for a lighter phone. This thing is super fast like when iPhone 5 launched. The 12 series feels like half an S update and half a full numbered model, which works in its favor because now it can mean many things to many customer’s as a super cycle phone.

The iPhone 3GS, 5, 6S, and 12 are the only iPhones that feel like substantial boosts in terms of processor speed or data speeds.

touch ID would be nice to have back on the iPhone. Combined with Face ID. When Touch ID is back then I will upgrade from the 12 Pro.

I would also not upgrade from 11 to 12.

But i would buy it with USB-C just out of principle. It is very convenient to use the same charger and cable for the Macbook, iPad, Nintendo Switch, Game Controllers, headphones, Laptop from work etc. And it annoys me to have a different cable just for the iPhone. I guess lightning is like a pet peeve for me at this point.

I have yet to get my hands on my iPhone 12 Pro Max but I can already tell you now that I wont be buying the next year's iPhone. I see no purpose in upgrading the phone every year, it is more of a hassle if you ask me. In most cases annual upgrades aren't all that significant either (with a few exceptions).

I say I don’t, but something still sucks me in and I still do. We’ll see though. The 12 is the one I project hanging on to for 2 years, unless there’s Touch ID in the power button like with the Air.

Really.....how about enjoying your new phone for five minutes before being concerned about replacing it. Lol

No plans to upgrade anytime soon. We generally keep our phones for 4 years before we upgrade. May be a bit sooner if we need to pass down our 12 models to a child or one of their grandparents.

If the 12 Pro Max is as good as I'm hoping it is, I will skip next year and get one the following year.

After much consideration I decided to skip the 12 Pro Max.

The factors were:
- Battery (bigger battery like the 11 series, 5nm Qualcomm x60 or better 5G modem rather than the 7nm x55 which eats battery on the 12)
- Bezel - hopefully the 12S Pro is more muted
- Similarity between the 11 Pro Max and 12 Pro Max screens (size, brightness)
- Lack of 120Hz

I’m hoping for the above features in the next generation.

Missing out on the camera in the 12 Pro Max though :-(

I was wrong. I ended up buying a 12 Pro Max to try it out and the 0.2” increase in screen size makes a world of difference, especially with typing (I didn’t realize it could get even easier to type between the 11 and 12).

Granted, I use my phone daily almost all day so the upgrade made sense to me.

The 5G is a nice bonus - went from 20 megabits to almost 150 where I live (outside of Greenville, SC).

Will update with results on how the HDR video performs on YouTube.

I used this site to buy a Verizon model (most of which were in stock) a day after launch and plopped a TMobile sim in.
