If iPhone 13 gets the rumored Touch ID, 120Hz, Pencil support, USB-C, I won't even think twice.

What about you?

Which feature(s) will compel you to upgrade from 12 to 13?
Nope. Not unless the cameras get a significant upgrade. All we have heard so far is the ultra wide getting an upgrade, couldn't care less and will keep my 12 Pro Max.

Dunno, I'm returning the mini because of the lock screen issues. Currently deciding whether to get a new battery and keep the 8 for another year or go for the SE I don't want a bigger phone so that rules out the rest of the 12 series, the 11s too. I'd prefer having the option of touch ID as well. So if I stick with the 8 and the 13 has a mini option with the choice of touch ID, probably. If I get the SE I really don't know, I like to keep my phones for more than a year it'll depend on how happy I am with the SE vs what the 13 would have to offer.

I generally keep my phones for at least 2 years, last one I had for 3. Unless there are problems with my 12 PM or unless there are some incredibly compelling reasons to replace it next year I'll go with No. Very pleased with my choice this year. And it's blue!

I prefer to keep devices longer so when I replace them, the updates are more significant.

I skipped the 12. Heck, I skipped everything from the 7 Plus until I got the 11 Pro Max. I tried an Xs and an 11 but returned them. I will likely wait until the very last iteration of the 12 series or until they make another with a battery like this 11 Pro Max.

I'm not in any rush to upgrade.

I most likely will like every year, unless some unforeseen event prevents it.

I used to be a yearly upgrader and/or platform switcher (iOS/Android). I feel like I'm in diminishing returns territory since the iPhone X. I plan on keeping my 12 Pro Max for 2 years (at least).

  • 120hz display? Yeah would be nice to have, but not enough to make me cough up money. I had a 90hz display on my Pixel 4xl and could never tell a difference.
  • USB-C: I'd love a USB-C port for the simplicity of charging. Honestly I'd love portless even more as I see the port as a security liability. Great but not enough to upgrade.
  • A Samsung Dex style feature where I could plug into a monitor/keyboard/mouse? Now this would be a feature that would get me to upgrade. My only "computer" is a work MacBook Pro 16 inch which is very locked down. I'd love to be able to use my private phone as a poor man's MacBook for personal use.
