I had an Air 2 for over 2 years, and it was misplaced somehow and lost. Hope it turns up soon! I got a Mini 4 like a month ago or so and love it. I got the 10.5 yesterday with Sprint cellular and LOVE IT!

Sadly, until a case and screen protector come in tomorrow, it's iPad mini 4 still. I'm not chanci messing this machine up! It's spectacular!

Yeah the 10.5 naked just feels like I'm walking around with $700 in my breast pocket ready to go to the wind

I loveeeee the official silicone case on 9.7 period it's got a nice premium feel and it has saved my device once arguably even two times (first was carpet second was hard wood floor) this week alone lol

What on earth was apple thinking either discontinuing it or not timing its release with launch?

They want to sell those ac+ plans :D

digging it so far, having ditched the air 2 for an ipad mini 4, I definitely enjoy the larger real estate, but miss the single hand program watching. waiting on an adequate case to remedy that

I love my 10.5 for the most part. I feel like I’m 85% there to going purely iOS again. Still can’t do without my iTunes “oh crap” backups. Also, my online coursework does not play fair with mobile safari. I’m forced to use my MacBook.

I've never ever used a screen protector on any if my iPads and I've had em all. Ever been a problem. I do have the Belkin one fitted by Apple on my iPhone 7 plus though.

Tried it out and have to say the size is great although not a huge difference to 9.7. If you have a 9.7 inch device and dont need the power and huge multitasking capabilities, id say save your cash, for now. Once you add keyboard and applecare its not an insignificant perchase.

10.5 inches is in for 2017 I guess

Next year I think 12 Inch will be perfection when bezels are removed!

But I still prefer my Surface Pro 4 for my serious computing needs over the iPad Pro Fisherprice activity centre... Just being honest and I have more apple devices (ipad pro and mini, iphone and macbook retina) than microsoft devices Surface Pro 4)....

I wonder if the leather cover with the pen holder will work if you put the keyboard cover on the iPad and then shove it in into the leather cover?

I just asked this very question in the accessory topics. Hoping someone can come through with some experience and pictures. I just can’t bring myself to drop $130 on basically a leather pocket :(

You cant possibly understand the value until you invest in iMarsupial

(Haven't tried it but agree, and I think this is a poor substitute for a proper silicone back)

I believe this quote answers your question...

"A common misconception about the leather sleeve is that it can only fit the iPad with no cover attached, but it’s actually the opposite. The leather sleeve is best used when the iPad is attached to a Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard; otherwise, the device will be loose and it might slip out (even when the Pencil is in), which happened to me when I was testing the iPad in the sleeve with no keyboard or cover attached to it.

This leads me to believe that the leather sleeve is primarily targeted at users who keep the Smart Keyboard always on, have a Pencil, and move between offices and different locations on a daily basis for presentations, on-site interviews, and other mobile tasks. If used this way, the leather sleeve is an elegant all-in one accessory. I’ve found myself frequently using it during the week of WWDC to hold the iPad and its accessories together in my bag without having to store them separately.

I’m going to buy a black leather sleeve for every iPad we own in our household – it looks nice, and it fixes a common problem with an attractive solution."

Here is what I think about my 10.5"

Pros:
  • Display is noticeably bigger without the device feeling bigger. It won't blow you away but there's definitely more breathing room and I really like it.
  • Pencil is incredibly responsive and has more resistance than I thought it would, making it feel less slippery when drawing
  • The ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate is nice and the whole thing feels buttery smooth (though I don't feel like it's as magical or life changing as some people make it out to be). It's one of those things that is nice to have, but not worth upgrading over.
  • The display itself just pops right off the iPad. The colors are so rich and full, the white point is so tuned to the environment, and the cover glass feels like it's practically gone—it just gets out of the way. Probably the best display I've ever used.
  • It's nice how everything is so instantaneous when it comes to launching and even updating apps. I also like that things stay loaded in memory, and even when you have to resume or open something, the flash memory is incredibly fast. From the test I did, it seems like it's around 700MB/s read and 400MB/s write, but I don't have a very good testing app and that app stopped working once I got into iOS 11 because it was 32 bit.
  • I like the smart keyboard more than I thought I would
  • It's nice that the speakers don't vibrate like my Air 2, and they sound a lot better. Having stereo is nice, but I kind of wish that they had put in more battery or something rather than the extra two speakers as I usually use my AirPods.
  • I still need to go through a full charge cycle (I guess I only let it get to like 97 or 98% so it hasn't started counting yet) but so far it seems like the battery life is much better than my Air 2.
  • It's easier to read the display outside.
Cons:
  • Seems like it takes longer to charge. I might end up getting a faster charger sooner rather than later.
  • I'm really irritated that Apple wouldn't sell me a rear shell along with my Smart Keyboard. I'm trying to figure something out. It's also ridiculous that there's no Apple Pencil loop. I bought a Micron pen on Amazon that has a metal clip that supposedly fits and matches well with the Pencil, so that will be arriving tomorrow
  • I didn't account for the fact that the new iPad is just a little taller, so it doesn't fit well in my Incase iPad bag now. I bought a Tenba DNA 10 on Amazon, and that is arriving tomorrow so I might post up a review of that along with the clip this weekend. Kind of works out though, as I'm switching to mirrorless soon and my gear will fit in that bag with the iPad.
  • It's annoying that the iPad is slightly askew when typing because of the camera bulge. Same with the cover wrapped behind it. makes it feel even thicker. I don't need a high end camera on the rear of my iPad. And now since I don't have a rear shell, it's always bumping into things and I'm worried it will get scratched up.
  • The smart keyboard could still use some work. I'd like it to have those butterfly mechanisms that make the key presses more even so it doesn't feel a little mushy like it does now. Would be nice to have more of a clicky response. It also takes a bit more fiddling to get it turned around into different positions. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but it took me longer than I thought it would to figure out how to make it stand up without the keyboard sticking out, lol.
  • I wish they had gone with the 12.9" resolution shrunk down at 326ppi, with an option to scale up to 10.5" 264ppi for people who have worse eyesight. I'd like more useable area for working, but in a smaller package. The apps still feel a bit confined, even in iOS 11.
What I'd really like to get is the 12.9" when it weighs a pound and sheds nearly all of the bezel. So hopefully something like that is available in three years and I can upgrade then. iOS 11 really makes this thing shine!

I ordered a faster charger from Amazon, playing with the Pro all day and trying to recharge is as painful as trying to update your device’s software first thing when it is available. MOLASSES. :)

So I went and picked up a 9.7 non pro on sales on Friday and exchanged it today for a 10.5 pro! I like the smaller bezels and increased screen size, it is definitely noticeable. It is a bit harder to type without a real keyboard since it spaces your hands out more but doable! I think it's a Good size if you don't want the such a large device as the 12.9 and only multi task a bit and carry it around with you to a lot of places vs just at home! Overall it's a really nice device and a good upgrade this go around

Awesome!

Enjoy

9.7 non pro to 10.5 is a pretty solid leap i think

Especially considering its really like an air 1.5 with the air1 screen

Yeah I thought I could live with it but after reading the reviews I took the plunge lol. Not to say the 9.7 non pro is a bad device as for the money it is really good but this thing takes it to another level!

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 10.5 from my current 9.7 Pro. Do you guys think it's worth the upgrade? And what are you doing with your 9.7's? Selling or keeping?

Also, I like the look of the Apple leather sleeve. I tend to use the 9.7 careless as it's so light. Any of you bought the leather sleeve also?
I have the leather sleeve and it is very professional looking. Definitely caught everyone's eye when I sat it down on the table. Not sure how protective it will be when I drop it, though.

The quality bar none, the feel is amazing, the drop protection is... probably just barely okay. I'll let you know after I drop mine a few times.

I love it. The motion, the power.. things load so fast vs my Air 2.

I think the display seems to be the general consensus with everyone's liking so far with the 120 HZ refresh rate. Otherwise, the real experience is coming with iOS 11.

I've just had mine for a few hours. Loving it so far!

The slightly larger on-screen keyboard makes a difference. And, the ASK is amazing. For the heck of it, I took a typing test this afternoon and typed 70 wpm with 99% accuracy. I used to be a super-speedy typist, but I doubt I'd type better than that on my laptop keyboard now. It's wonderful that a keyboard/cover so thin and light manages to feel like a regular keyboard. It may almost be worth the $159 price tag. :D

I like the slightly larger screen. And, it's a beautiful thing! This iPad is super fast, but with what I've done with it thus far, I don't notice it being amazingly faster than the Air 2. I'm looking forward to iOS 11 & plan to go with the public beta when it's released.
