I guarantee you that if we both have our phones in our pockets or resting on a desk, I can have my phone unlocked and and ready to go faster than you. TouchID is just faster and more convenient in my opinion. The very action that wakes up my phone (I don't use lift to wake) also unlocks it. With FaceID I have to wake my phone, point it at my face, then swipe. Not to mention how much quicker ApplePay is in stores too, where I can take my phone out of my pocket, wake it, and authorize the payment in one seamless action.

It's not a deal-breaking inconvenience, but if we're talking about the iPhone of my dreams it would offer TouchID.
I guess I just don't get the value of being able to unlock my phone faster than someone else.

I use Apple Pay on my watch for pretty much all of my transactions, rarely use my phone to pay, so I still don't see the actual value or benefit of being able to unlock a phone faster with Touch ID than can be done using Face ID.

I love crts.
They are much better then todays technology.
I still have crt tvs.

Yuck. So happy this stuff is gone for good. But if you enjoy it, enjoy it. There’s a time for some things and the time for crt has passed almost 15 years ago in my opinion.

Not just faster, but easier too. In any case, you asked why people would prefer TouchID and I gave my 2 cents. I don't really understand why people prefer FaceID, but to each their own. That's why I say the perfect iPhone should have both.

Well yes and no. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't understand why people prefer touch id, but as you say to each their own. I do agree the "perfect" iphone should have both and maybe TID is coming back in a different form.

you don't need to wake, look then swipe to unlock. just wake up and swipe. faceid will pickup your face during the swipe.
