I guess I just don't get the value of being able to unlock my phone faster than someone else.I guarantee you that if we both have our phones in our pockets or resting on a desk, I can have my phone unlocked and and ready to go faster than you. TouchID is just faster and more convenient in my opinion. The very action that wakes up my phone (I don't use lift to wake) also unlocks it. With FaceID I have to wake my phone, point it at my face, then swipe. Not to mention how much quicker ApplePay is in stores too, where I can take my phone out of my pocket, wake it, and authorize the payment in one seamless action.
It's not a deal-breaking inconvenience, but if we're talking about the iPhone of my dreams it would offer TouchID.
I use Apple Pay on my watch for pretty much all of my transactions, rarely use my phone to pay, so I still don't see the actual value or benefit of being able to unlock a phone faster with Touch ID than can be done using Face ID.
