Weight has never worried me I don’t walk around with phone in pocket all day, wife has 12 max it's a bit lighter than the 13 max I have, and 14 max rumoured to be heavier again.

It never bothered me in my pockets but I got tired of one handed use. On the other hand, the 6.1“ screen feels to small so I guess my mind is made up to go back to the Max.

I’m upgrading from a 12 pro to the 14 pro max and I am really worried about the weight and unwieldiness of the phone. Reason for the upgrade is primarily battery life. I find battery in the regular pros woefully inadequate.

I’ve used the ‘standard’ sized iPhone/iPhone Pro for years, but got an iPhone 12 Pro Max to try it out. Then went back last year to the iPhone 13 Pro. My 14 will be a Pro Max.

The size does take some getting used to, but I did get used to it. I’m also 66 and the larger screen is very nice in many ways that might not be immediately apparent. For example, I’m an amateur photographer, and the larger screen is nicer for composing images. The battery life is way better too, I can usually go 2 days on the Max, and a larger battery will last longer before you need to replace it.

You just have to try one for a while - longer than Apple’s generous return period - to know if you’re going to like it. So if it takes 4-6 months to really know, and you don’t like it, just suffer with it until the next release and trade it in.

The battery on the Pro Max is just amazing. I went to the gym at 9am on Saturday with 100% charge. i did a 40 minutes of weights listening through airpods pro and then left the phone in a locker to do a yoga class. At noon, my battery had dropped to 95%. However, Saturday afternoon was at an event where i had a drink in one hand for several hours (well, several successive drinks). One handed use for me is almost impossible - but then again, I hardly ever need to use it one handed.

I went dual sim this year and can trade in both a regular and a Max iphone pro for a single device. I've used both sizes and i still don't know which i prefer. Whichever way you go, you will have an amazing phone.

The only thing keeping me on the Pro series is the camera. The only thing keeping me on a Pro Max is the screen size. But I can’t stand the weight of it. 🤷‍♂️

I'm a minimalist traveler who tries to keep weight of everything to a minimum. Heck I've even sawed travel toothbrushes in half in the past! The weight of my 12 Pro Max (which rides in my right front pocket) has NEVER bothered me. The benefits of bigger screen and batter outweigh (pun intended) the larger mass.

I am thinking about upgrading to the 14 PM as well since I am mostly using my phone at home instead of my iPad mini. For a quick read, watching videos etc I also use my iPhone and the iPad sits around unused. The OLED screen is so much better and I have it always with me.
When doing real work I need my MacBook anyway and watching long movies will always be done on my TV.
So a bigger screen from the Max would be great, just afraid of taking it outside due to the weight. But I could get rid of my iPad :)

Honest question, does anybody read other peoples opinions on what size phones they prefer and actually get any influence from it whatsoever? These threads pop up every year and I was curious if anybody has bought a big or small phone based on what a few strangers have said here.
No I just get angry so many have different and therefore wrong opinions to myself. /s :p

I would say that the size definitely becomes unnoticeable. I’ve had a 12 Pro Max since launch, and an 8 Plus for a few years before that. I will always opt for the largest phone. I’m an average sized adult male. My phone fits comfortably in the side pockets of all my pants. One handed use can be awkward, but other than that, I’ve never found the size to be an inconvenience. It really does just feel “normal” to me. Anything smaller feels small and cramped.

Yea, I’m really thinking the Watch with cellular would probably solve a lot of my worries concerning weight during activities. And I’m usually focused on what I’m doing, I’m not one to take pics and be on my phone at the gym anyway.

Weight in hand doesn’t bother me really, but I know what you mean about being top heavy. Can make it surprisingly uncomfortable over long periods of time.

Thank you! 🙏
I have always used my Apple Watch whenever I exercise whether it is jogging or bike riding outside or stuff in the gym. I am older so heavy weights isn’t on my list but love the treadmill, bike, elliptical and the machines. Just leave my iPhone in the locker and connect my Airpod Pros to my Watch.

Haven't read any of the thread but you get used to it quick. The 7 Plus is the first big iPhone I got and I immediately was like"this is too big" and took it back. Had some remorse and bought it again and after a few days I've never gone back to a small phone.

I've tried all three sizes of the 12/13 series and they all have pros and cons! I'm currently using a 13 mini and I'm about to move to the 14 Pro Max, so it's going to feel utterly massive... But I do really miss the Plus/Max size, so I'm really looking forward to it. My favourite iPhone was the 6s Plus (Rose Gold) and this new Max is giving be those vibes. Can't wait!

To anyone on the fence, I say give it a go! Use the 14-day return window to test drive it and see how you get on.

I am upgrading next week from the 12 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Max.

I mostly wear my phone around my a neck with a lanyard case (like the pic below from KNOK a on Amazon) so the size isn’t as noticeable as if I had in my pocket. the only other large phone I had was the 8 plus and back then I didn’t like the size as it was too big for certain bags I used then. I don’t think I would go down in size now (but maybe I’ll change my mind in the future).

I switched to the 14PM from my iPhone 12. Now it feels like I'm getting a "NEW" iPhone and I'm excited for the bigger screen! I know I will hate the extra bulk in my pocket but I'm thinking the trade off with the screen (and battery) will be worth it!

SoOo… this year I’m considering moving up from the 13P to a 14PM. I’ve owned larger models before, but up until the 13P, I never noticed the weight difference as much as I did last year. The size doesn’t bother me, I have medium sized hands with long fingers.

I’m seriously wondering how the female users that have Pro Max models cope, especially if they don’t carry a purse all the time.

And for the gentlemen/females that go to the gym and carry it for more physical activities, does the size eventually become unnoticeable?

It used to be you could order a model on launch and not have to worry about other models being in stock. It would be easy to try the larger size, if you didn’t like it, go to an Apple Store and trade for the smaller size. But now with shortages and supply issues, you’re kinda stuck with what you order.

I’m not really one to order both sizes just to try. Mostly because I don’t want to deny a fellow Apple lover the chance to get one on launch day, just because I ordered two for the sake of it.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! 👊😃👍
I wouldn't be able to handle the Pro Max without a Pop Socket. It is still a darn heavy phone but I love the large screen so it's a trade off. https://www.popsockets.com/
