BROOO there ain't no way 😂😂😂 what are the practical benefits of this full blown holster? For me it would just get in the way although I can see how it might be more convenient for access when sitting down.

I've recently become aware that the number and size of the device screens in my life need to be reduced. For me, I've got an iPad, a MBP, an iPhone, my work PC and my 65 inch TV. I already have far too many screens.

Therefore, I'm not getting an Apple Watch and I'm keeping my iPhone at the Pro screen size. However, I completely understand the validity of going for the Pro Max for folks who don't have as many screens as me.

I was convinced I’d get a Pro Max. When the time came I picked the Pro.

I wish I’d found time to go and hold a 13PM so I could get an idea of size and weight.

I got an iPhone, iPad Air, MBP 16 with Studio Display and of course my 65“ OLED.

For me, it’s the exact opposite: Whenever I’m in front of a screen, I want to be comfortable to look at. I don’t have any problems with my eyes yet but still, it’s more relaxing looking at a big, beautiful display.

I’m so glad I chose the MBP 16 instead if MBA even though I mostly use an external display but when I do use the internal display it better be big.

Cant wait to go back to the pro max size for the same reason. I do use my iPad a lot but when I’m on my iPhone I want it to have a large display, too.

I haven’t seen anybody carry a phone like that since about the year 2000. That’s not serious is it?
It may not be trendy but trends are stupid if they automatically rule out utilitarian solutions for current dilemmas.

I especially expect men to have more latitude to use a holster like that since a lot of other practical options are still dismissed by some as too feminine. I’ve also seen some guys in the various trades use these. It’s the best way to have your phone on you and keep it protected.

I’m a tiny woman but used a holster when I was doing landscaping for my own property and volunteer projects. I suppose I looked derpy but nobody who knew me would dare say that to my face. And I would not have cared if they did. Which is why people who know me don’t bother giving me their unsolicited opinions. (Except for my mom). Those who don’t know me, I don’t care about their opinion. I do as I please and am pleased when I do. 😬

When the Apple Watch advanced a bit I then stopped carrying my phone around as much while doing outdoor work. But that’s not going to be a desirable option for everyone.

I genuinely haven’t seen anybody carry a phone like this for 20 odd years so hence my comment. I would imagine this sort of thing is a North American trend rather than European so on a forum like this it will spark a discussion due to people like me finding it unusual. Things clipped to belts in general is unusual here but It certainly does the job.

I do have one but I haven’t used it yet. It was bought so I could carry other stuff in it while walking the dog. I had one when I had a blackberry too but I kept breaking it on the arms of Tube seats

Nah it’s not a trend in North America either. I’ve seen some guys in the trades use them but that’s pretty niche and definitely not commonly seen. I’m saying it would be better if people do not dismiss practical solutions just because it’s not part of the current fashion or seems dated. Who decides this stuff anyway?

I just saw an article that the newest trend is for women to shave off or bleach their eyebrows into invisibility. Not that long ago they were drawing them in with what looked like Sharpies. Sweet Jesus who decides this stuff? If that’s what someone really wants to do, fine. If that’s what someone definitely doesn’t want to do, also fine. I’m going to leave my eyebrows alone. I actually was ahead of that trend 40 years ago. Unfortunately, it was unintentional. Boy was my mom mad!

It’s 2022. Harry Styles is wearing my great Aunt’s worst 60’s fashion faux pas to awards ceremonies and premiers. We may as well bring back leather holsters to hold these honking huge iPhones. At least it serves a logical purpose. Which is more than I can say for the rest of what people are passing off as trendy these days.

IMO they are right at the weight limit and if the aspect ratio was a little bit different I believe it would be a better experience. It’s a little too wide and a little too heavy imo. But … you will get used to it like anything. It’s certainly worth the extra screen real estate. I have a pixel 6 pro also and it has the same size screen but is much much friendlier to use.

I went with the standard pro last year, I had the 12 pro max but the size/weight kept creeping up each year and the 13 pro max was where I drew the line, I think people often make the mistake of thinking they were ok with say the 11 pro max so the 14 will be fine too which may or may not be the case.

I have been very happy with the 13 pro even if sometimes I would like a slightly larger screen. It has though been a pleasure to carry around especially in the Summer when I have basically lived in shorts.

I am on the fence with the 14, the pro max is the same weight but slightly narrower which might help? I was going to order the 14 pro max but thanks to the apple store issues my delivery slipped from 16/09 to October by the time I got working. I did order the 14 pro too which is coming on Friday. Still weighing up what one to keep, the bigger camera bump kind of looks a bit much on the smaller model so I am not sure. Gut is telling me that for most scenarios the standard pro is the one to get again, with any slightly smaller phone you just have to accept that you will ALWAYS wish you had a bigger screen it maybe just comes down to if the bigger screen outweighs the rest

This.

I picked up my 14PM today. The screen size is amazing.

But it definitely is more noticeable in my Jeans pockets (and I'm not even wearing super skinny Jeans) and I'm already doubting my decision to go back to Pro Max size. I always had Plus/Max sizes until 12PM but then downsized to iPhone 12 and was very happy with the size of it. I have to admit I completely underestimated how annoying that big phone is in my pockets.

Thing is, I know exactly that if I do return it and get a Pro instead, I'll miss the screen. Either way, it's a trade off.
Well, I got 14 days to decide. Mhm.

I've also used a leather holster since 6+, then X (black version of this one). Not a fan of the aesthetic but the utility won over. Trying to find a new solution for my new 14 Pro, tho. It is hard to not my phone and wallet together and at the ready. Might have to try to cope with a fanny pack disguised as a Euro-style cross body bag 🙃 or just stick with my front pocket.

This thread is interesting--so many different experiences! Personally, I am glad I didn't go Max. The smaller Pro already feels so much bigger/bulkier/heavier than the X.

Oh I have the 14 Pro Max. It’s very wide with the case on. It fits in a pocket of my purse, but barely. When I see my daughter’s 14 Pro or my 13 Pro I think they look so tiny now. 😯

I do manage to carry it in the front pocket of my “Mom Jeans”. That’s actually what the jeans are called by American Eagle. If I want to carry this phone while wearing a skirt or shorts I’ll have to use a woman’s cell phone case with straps. I’m lucky to have that option, but it frankly feels weird to do so around the house, it looks like I’m going out.
