It's my personal opinion (and opinion only) that proper anodization of the metal was more costly to Apple. So, instead of properly hardening the metal they simply chose to reduce the anodization time. That results in a lighter color that still scratches the same but because it is lighter hides those scratches better.

Neucase is proof that the anodization of black can be done properly. Apple just chose not to do it.

If they are offering black this time it's because they finally decided to do it correctly.

Again, just my opinion.

I get that you are free to have and voice these opinions, but honestly I'm fascinated that someone like you who clearly despises Apple, and assumes that everything they do has some evil motive, are reading and participating in an Apple forum. I just don't get it.

I'm easy to get if you understand that I like Apple's products but do not necessarily agree with some of the decisions Apple makes.

Liking Apple products does not mean I have to always like Apple.

I am typing this post (and the posts above) on a 2003 era 17" PowerBook G4 with 2GB ram running OS X Leopard 10.5.8. I have at least eight other Macs in my home, but only one is an Intel Mac (2006 17" MBP). My main Mac is a 2001 PowerMac G4 Quicksilver.

I own several Apple devices and my main phone is an iPhone 6s+. So, I like a lot about Apple products.

I just don't agree with every decision Apple makes. That doesn't mean I hate Apple.

EDIT: I also don't attribute every move by Apple as evil. I do however, attribute it to a for-profit business that answers to it's shareholders. As such, like any business, Apple will use it's customers to it's own ends. That does not make Apple evil, or ascribe evil motive. It's simply business.

I'm intrigued. I always get the dark face phone, so it will be nice to finally have two choices. But the phone will end up in a black plastic case anyway. So it won't matter much to me. I will only see the edge at the top and bottom.

I wanted to say, well, I am not a 40 year old man that has nostalgia for Bang and Olufsen design stuff, but I turn 40 in January.. and I am not too excited about it. So I dunno, let's hold it in our hands first I guess.
