Back pants pocket for me. 6+ for 2 years. 6s+ for almost two years. 8+ for a year. And now Xs Max. All in back pants pocket. On table next to me when I sit or in hands. Never had a thought about it. Only once sat on my Note 3 accidentally years ago - nothing could kill that phone.

Reading on this screen is why I go with the plus / Max. Love it. I’ve read two lengthy books on the Max already. Planning for 24+ next year.

Having used all the plus models in the past, always the back pocket like others have said. Once the X was released I knew I was never going to purchase a larger screen device again.. or at least not for a long while. When XS Max came out I didn't even bother. I've realized I don't actually need the larger screen, even though I really do miss the battery power. I would always have to take the larger phones out of my back pocket and hold them in my hand at baseball games, dinners, meetings.. etc. The X and XS can fit in front and back pockets. I never find myself fiddling around with those devices during outings unless I actually need them. The Apple Watch for me does exactly what it was originally intended for.. to be an extension of the phone. And now I can get all my notifications and reply right from it, so having a plus/max model just isn't needed.. for me.. Though again, battery life was amazing! If those rumors hold up about battery cases coming, then that's just going to put me in an even greater position to stay on the path of not having a larger device again.. or at least for now. Never say never.. but it's closer to never then ever before.

Sensible thread. In my right pocket I have keys. In my left front pocket I carry wallet. There's NO PLACE for a BIG PHONE!

Do you hear this, Apple? Where are we suppose to put these stupid, big phones!?!?

Without any real difficulty, in the grand scheme of things the rounded design helps and they’re not really all that bulky... they should easily fit in jeans front pockets the same as a regular sized iPhone 8/X unless you wear particularly tight fitting ones!

Since you summoned Apple to this thread... Apple please make them bigger

Just like any other normal human being?

Lol, you literally get used to the big size and it stops being that huge to you. I also thought how could I even use the Xs Max with one hand but here I am using it literally with one hand all the time. When I had the 6s I had to stretch to reach the top, and weirdly enough, I still stretch the same distance for my Xs Max.

I wear cargo pants with side pockets because I like having the large phone with me. These phones are a specific type of computing devices and each of us have our own style.

Apple doesn't spend any time wandering around third-party Apple sites getting opinions.

They don't have to.

Go here.

However, keep in mind that Apple does what it wants. So if it does hear you, there's no guarantee you'll get what you want. And if you DO get what you want, there's no guarantee you're going to like it. It's Apple after all.

Lastly. I don't know about you, but I wear pants that have at minimum four pockets. So, your two pocket scenario doesn't make any sense. I have two more pockets than you do it seems. My phone can go in one of those. Which it does actually. But with only two pockets you might have missed the fact that most people have four and don't seem to have your problem.

Sorry about that.

I have always preferred the big phone, and now I have been using them since they were first introduced, I can’t look at a regular sized iPhone again lol.

Back on topic :p

I keep my Xs max in my front pocket, no issues at all :)

It's the perfect sized phone. It fits perfect I'm my jeans front pocket with a Apple leather case on it. I love being able to see what's on the screen.

It usually gets carried in a backpack/purse. I don’t wear the phone on my person as a rule, no backpockets or front pockets or sticking it down the front of my shirt (which is gross if you are exercising, sweaty iPhones are just not on).

I would be hugely surprised if Apples researchers did not visit third party sites looking at opinions. The internet is a wealth of opinions which are free to them and any company worth their salt will check out the competition and read feedback especially. I can’t imagine masses of people contact Apple with feedback and that is the only metric they have for their research.

How do you guys that own a 6+/7+/8+ or X/XS/XS Max comfortably carry your phone with you all day?

I love the bigger screen, but I hate the bulk of these larger phones. I don't wear tight trousers/jeans or anything (just regular sizes), yet even if I am standing up I can still 'feel' the phone and am conscious of it all the time. It's obviously even worse when I move/bend or sit down as my trousers/jeans pull the phone against me even more. I'm absolutely paranoid about bending/misshaping/crushing the phone when doing this.

  • I've heard people says things like "when I sit down, I just take my phone out of my pocket". REALLY? That might work for you, but let's be honest, for the majority of people that's just unnecessary hassle and means you always have to be conscious of doing it. It's not practical.

  • I've heard others say they keep their phone in their shirt pocket, or jacket pocket, or on a clip/belt. Again, that might work for you, but for a lot of people, its not 'cool' to have your phone in your shirt pocket or clipped to a belt - and a lot of people don't wear shirts with pockets or jackets (especially when its warm for most of the year).

  • I've heard people say "when I'm out, I just carry it around in my hand". That just sounds ridiculous, if someone knocks into you, or you drop it accidently, or you need two hands for something etc.

  • Lastly, I've heard people say they keep their phones in their back pants/jeans/trouser pocket. Again, that might work for you but I'd be paranoid of someone stealing it, or it falling out, or I forget its there and I sit on it and bend/crush it.

So for the rest of us (which I assume is still a lot of people), how do you do it? Do you just constantly wear baggy pants/trousers/jeans so it can move freely without the risk of being crushed/bent?

Honestly, at the moment, although I love the bigger screen, the larger size just isn't worth the extra consideration/hassle. A phone should be a convenience and make aspects of life easier, not be something you have to be conscious of all the time when moving/sitting etc.

Ok I’m a Max user. Been a plus user since the 6 plus. But I’m finding the max to be unwieldy. The chin of the plus made the phone a little manageable and comfortable actually but I think the thickness and the top and bottom areas of the max are too long. It kinda uncomfortable. So, I’m actually going to an xr. Just got a used one for a great price. I’ve been texting xr and I find it comfortable!

On a different note, my gf actually said to me that the plus is uncomfortable lol so there are pros and cons of these big phones.

Assuming for the moment you're correct - it seems to be non-listening tour.

Just how MANY times have I mentioned the fugly iPhone camera bump on these very forums since the launch of the iPhone 6/6+?

What about the threads started for an LED notification light?

Customization of the iPhone? How many have begged Apple to allow them to put app incons wherever they want on the springboard? Darkmode?

How many "I hate FaceID" and "Bring back the headphone jack" threads have been started here on MacRumors?

Just how long did it take Apple to bring the color black back to the iPhone when they took it away with the iPhone 5s?

How long did people on MacRumors complain about the size of iPhones before Apple finally released an SE? And what did Apple do with it a year or so later?

No, if they scan websites for opinion then they are ignoring what they find.

Maybe like this? But honestly, at the end of the day, who cares? If it works for someone else, that's great. If it doesn't work for you, that's great, too. Some people drive a Suburban, other people drive a Prius. This is the same deal.

Sites like this are anything but a representative sample of Apple's market. I'd be amazed if they didn't regard trying to do "market research" on fora like this as a complete waste of their time.

I wasn’t saying they don’t ignore the feedback but you can bet they are well aware of what is being said about their products. It’s probably why no iPhone is perfect and lately comes with more trade offs since we are aware of what is out there. Every year we hope they listen and they deliver some of it and perhaps enough to get sales without being too innovative to save cost.

Apple does listen to it's customers. But Apple is not going to satisfy all 200 million of it's customers at the same time.

I'm guessing Apple hears feedback on forums such as this and evaluates these comments against it's broader view.

There’s plenty of examples of Apple not competing with its competition though over a number of years on features that had long become industry standard by the time Apple adopt it though. How long did it take the iPhone to get wireless charging and OLED for example? It’s not always about trying to satisfy 200 million customers a year but offering some of the basics we see their competitors offering, rather than joining the party years later. Apple very much follow these days and drive the direction of certain features due to their popularity.
