The keyboard real estate makes the size well worth it to me.
It is why I got the MAX.

Sensible thread. In my right pocket I have keys. In my left front pocket I carry wallet. There's NO PLACE for a BIG PHONE!
Do you hear this, Apple? Where are we suppose to put these stupid, big phones!?!?

Apple doesn't spend any time wandering around third-party Apple sites getting opinions.Sensible thread. In my right pocket I have keys. In my left front pocket I carry wallet. There's NO PLACE for a BIG PHONE!

I would be hugely surprised if Apples researchers did not visit third party sites looking at opinions. The internet is a wealth of opinions which are free to them and any company worth their salt will check out the competition and read feedback especially. I can’t imagine masses of people contact Apple with feedback and that is the only metric they have for their research.Apple doesn't spend any time wandering around third-party Apple sites getting opinions.
They don't have to.
How do you guys that own a 6+/7+/8+ or X/XS/XS Max comfortably carry your phone with you all day?
I love the bigger screen, but I hate the bulk of these larger phones. I don't wear tight trousers/jeans or anything (just regular sizes), yet even if I am standing up I can still 'feel' the phone and am conscious of it all the time. It's obviously even worse when I move/bend or sit down as my trousers/jeans pull the phone against me even more. I'm absolutely paranoid about bending/misshaping/crushing the phone when doing this.
- I've heard people says things like "when I sit down, I just take my phone out of my pocket". REALLY? That might work for you, but let's be honest, for the majority of people that's just unnecessary hassle and means you always have to be conscious of doing it. It's not practical.
- I've heard others say they keep their phone in their shirt pocket, or jacket pocket, or on a clip/belt. Again, that might work for you, but for a lot of people, its not 'cool' to have your phone in your shirt pocket or clipped to a belt - and a lot of people don't wear shirts with pockets or jackets (especially when its warm for most of the year).
- I've heard people say "when I'm out, I just carry it around in my hand". That just sounds ridiculous, if someone knocks into you, or you drop it accidently, or you need two hands for something etc.
- Lastly, I've heard people say they keep their phones in their back pants/jeans/trouser pocket. Again, that might work for you but I'd be paranoid of someone stealing it, or it falling out, or I forget its there and I sit on it and bend/crush it.
So for the rest of us (which I assume is still a lot of people), how do you do it? Do you just constantly wear baggy pants/trousers/jeans so it can move freely without the risk of being crushed/bent?
Honestly, at the moment, although I love the bigger screen, the larger size just isn't worth the extra consideration/hassle. A phone should be a convenience and make aspects of life easier, not be something you have to be conscious of all the time when moving/sitting etc.
Assuming for the moment you're correct - it seems to be non-listening tour.I would be hugely surprised if Apples researchers did not visit third party sites looking at opinions. Just how MANY times have I mentioned the fugly iPhone camera bump on these very forums since the launch of the iPhone 6/6+?
What about the threads started for an LED notification light?
Customization of the iPhone? How many have begged Apple to allow them to put app incons wherever they want on the springboard? Darkmode?
How many "I hate FaceID" and "Bring back the headphone jack" threads have been started here on MacRumors?
Just how long did it take Apple to bring the color black back to the iPhone when they took it away with the iPhone 5s?
How long did people on MacRumors complain about the size of iPhones before Apple finally released an SE? And what did Apple do with it a year or so later?
No, if they scan websites for opinion then they are ignoring what they find.
Apple does listen to it's customers. But Apple is not going to satisfy all 200 million of it's customers at the same time.I wasn’t saying they don’t ignore the feedback but you can bet they are well aware of what is being said about their products. It’s probably why no iPhone is perfect and lately comes with more trade offs since we are aware of what is out there. Every year we hope they listen and they deliver some of it and perhaps enough to get sales without being too innovative to save cost.
There’s plenty of examples of Apple not competing with its competition though over a number of years on features that had long become industry standard by the time Apple adopt it though. How long did it take the iPhone to get wireless charging and OLED for example? It’s not always about trying to satisfy 200 million customers a year but offering some of the basics we see their competitors offering, rather than joining the party years later. Apple very much follow these days and drive the direction of certain features due to their popularity.Apple does listen to it's customers. I'm guessing Apple hears feedback on forums such as this and evaluates these comments against it's broader view.
