I like it much better than the bigger ipad pro that I took back. Big upgrade over the Air one. Went all white (rose gold) this time, pencil, and 256gb LTE of course. Couldn't get the smart kb for now though which kinda sucks but not a big deal since i leave for vacation soon.

So far I'm really liking the IPP 9.7
I've come from not having an iPad for about 2 years, and the last iPad I owned was the iPad Mini 2.

My use of this is for business and pleasure, and so far in the few hours its been with me, its not failed to impress in either role.
Also have the smart cover and silicone case and both items compliment each other and the iPad very well.

I hope this doesn't turn out like the iPad 3, as I too got caught out by that and would also prefer to not repeat that again if I can help it :)

It's a gorgeous device!

Well I've boxed up the iPads and cases (front & back) and they are being collected by UPS tomorrow.

The device really underwhelms me, and the 2gb RAM situation is a huge concern.

The next refresh will have 4gb of RAM, and this 9.7" will definitely be the new iPad 3!

All devs will be developing with 4gb RAM in mind so in no time this device will be left behind.

Oh well ...

You are trying really hard to downplay the best iPad Apple has ever made.

So sorry.

Really? How many apps in almost 6 months of the 12.9 Pro are 4gb only? Notta. If you think devs are going to leave behind paying customers on 1 year old iPads come then, that's well ludicrous to think. Devs didnt leave behind 1gb devices when they all went 2gb.

You also cannot negate the extra video memory driving a buttload more pixels on the 12.9 takes.

If you're always worried about next year you will never be happy with what you purchase in the present.

Its your money and if you dont think its worth the money then return it. But the RAM argument is WAY over played out now that no one knows anything about the future.

I don't believe he is ... but that's just my opinion.
No need to be sorry for another persons opinion.

The 9,7" is just unifying the supply chain.

It has just as much updated components to switch over to the new parts, skimming away all the "fat" that
was introduced with the 12,9".

Disclaimer: I own an iPad Pro 12,9" and an Air 2.
I have no clue why a 9,7" "Pro" should be included in the product lineup, except for the increased pricing and the points about the supply chain I already stated.

It's not if you consider real multitasking with iOS 10.
The split screen function that is available today was just the beginning.
It has to be different, I promise it'll happen.

It should be able replace old PC's you know. Like the keynote said.
Don"t you think, Apple has looked at the Surface Pro?
I'm sure the new multitasking is all they are currently working on.

Well, having used mine for 20 minutes, I know exactly why the 9.7" exists. And it ain't that.

Some people are talkers others are doers. Unless you count returning product as actually doing anything.

Fear is a powerful force. But inaction has consequences as does real actions.

No they won't. Blanket statements aside, it's much more likely devs will be developing with maximum audience in mind, not catering for niche products outside the budget and use case of most people.

Honestly, if you're always looking for the next spec bump then you'll never be happy with what's available at any given time.

You beat me to it!

I am coming from the iPad Air 2. As far as snappier, it's a little faster. I am impressed with the A9x but was more looking for the Apple Pencil capability.

The 12.9 was too big, and the Air 2 served me well, but I wanted those capabilities of that Pro model.

I am REALLY impressed with the screen. The colors definitely pop more, the true tone was something I thought I would turn off, but it really does work!

We could all nitpick about the RAM, we were all excited to have it in the Air 2 and I definitely don't feel it lacking on this model.

I view true tone like I do dynamic contrast on a tv. A good idea but the change is noticeable i.e. Jarring

I find it refreshingly light, lighting fast, and I have tons of space (got the 256GB). It is restoring slooooooowly but so far I can see me using this in bed almost exclusively. I miss the tick black letters on the keyboard.

I picked mine up at the Apple Store this afternoon - rose gold 32 GB WiFi with dark gray case and pencil. It's appreciably faster than my Air 2 and the sound is better. Very slight vibration on loud - less than the Air 2 but this is something that doesn't bother me. Nice screen color and I like using the true tone. I haven't tried the pencil yet. AND it has a nice even white screen with no yellow! Even using true tone once your eyes adjust, it doesn't look yellow at all. I love it!!

I'm actually curious about all those people saying the next 9.7" iPad will have 4GB and will be released in either Fall 2016 or Spring 2017. Do you guys have insider information or something?
