Charged the phone for the first time today since downloading 14.7 on Tuesday evening.

Had a screen on time of 1h20Mins and used 12% battery so far.

That includes using whatsapp, messaging, youtube videos and just general web browsing.

Not bad I don't think.

I updated to 14.7 and my battery life was slightly better but not that great. I reset network settings and it improved for a day or two. Yesterday, I let my battery run down to 20% and did a full charge to 100% and my battery is still at 71% 24+ hours later. I normally let it run down to 40% and recharge to 80%. I am hoping that the full battery cycle fixed my issue.

I am gonna wait one more week, and if 14.7 is the last version of iOS 14, I will restore my iPhone 8 and iPad with that version.

14.7 seems worse for me. Typically my phone only gets charged when plugged in for CarPlay to and from work. But now I’m having to top it off in the morning. Not terrible, but a noticeable difference.

Finally put trigger from 14.5 on iPhone 11. After few hours, the battery is remains same or slightly better.

I was getting fantastic battery life on 14.6 (iPhone SE 2020) getting around 36hrs out of one charge and about a 3% drop in battery overnight with the phone on my nightstand, but since updating to 14.7 the phone drops from 100% to 66% while asleep in seven hours. Anyone else finding the same issue?

Have you tried completely shutting down your phone and re-starting? Then waiting a day or so while everything gets re-indexed? Has mostly worked for me after every update.

Upgraded a few days ago on iPhone 11 and it seems to be a tiny bit better.

Just finished upgrading a few hours ago on my old 1st gen iPhone SE and the battery went from 100% charge to 94% after using it for less than 5 minutes. And it (battery?) got really really hot. Strange.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never had to do this before on any ios version update before, but I'll give it a go and see if it makes any improvement.

Terrible on the iPhone 8 Plus.

If I fully charge the phone right before going to sleep, I end up at around 10-12% when I wake up even if the phone is sitting in airplane mode throughout the night. Even the battery usage statistics don't reveal any culprits - just showing 0min usage all throughout that nocturnal megadrain period.

Hey! “How is the battery” now in 14.7.1?
I am still deciding. It has remained really really good since my last post. After the update yesterday, my phone immediately started to eat battery. Some is expected with an update though. One day later, it appears to be using more than it did previously.

I switched over to airplane mode overnight and battery usage was very stable. I turned off airplane mode around 6 AM and the battery started tanking again while mostly sitting idle. I reset network settings and changed to 100% like I did for 14.7. It is currently draining at 2% per hour. Once again, my problem appears to be related to the cellular network.

How is the cell reception when idling? Any chance you are using 5G? If so, try LTE or 4G or whatever it is called on your end and see if it improves. I have noticed that when cellular data is weak, it will draw more power. Have you tried disabling mobile data but leaving wifi enabled to see what it does? Could be constant network traffic(Usually an app does this) so I would see what it does with Wifi on and Cellular Data off.

It is most definitely a cell reception issue. This morning around 11:30 am I performed a total restore from my Mac where it wiped the phone and downloaded and installed iOS. As you can see, the battery drain is horrible. I went to my neighbors house around 7 pm for a couple hours and the batter drain was stable. When I got home, the battery drain was horrible again. At home I usually have around 2 bars of reception. Prior to iOS 14.6 my phone was happy at 2 bars but since then I think it is running the receiver at higher power because it shows 4 bars most of the time but occasionally it drops to 2 bars for a short period and then it goes back up to 4. I think that I just need to accept the fact that I need to keep my phone in airplane mode while at home. I am able still able to receive calls and SMS messages in airplane mode, but it is just a pain to keep switching back and forth.

Been using 14.7.1 for a few days and its running fine, haven't noticed any abnormal batterydrain on any of the updates. My guess is that its app related or maybe functions as "background updates" that I always have disabled.

I'm getting really nice battery on iPhone 12 mini with 14.7.1. Got 5 hours screen on time with 45% battery left

Seems better after disabling Siri + Siri learning etc as never use any of that stuff

Have you tried turning on wifi calling? Phones are known to drain more power if reception is less than great, maybe the iphone is using more now than before. What type of data network are you using? I know that 5G is known for being heavier on the battery. With that said I typically get 2 bars at home with my phone and I know lose ~3 - 4 percent drain overnight leaving the phone alone, no airplane mode. I do use wifi calling though.
