I replied in the gargantuan 'Steve taking leave' thread but it'll probably go unnoticed...

I'm going to put my cards on the table here and predict that these new product announcements (iMac and Mac mini) will finally come in the next 1-2 weeks. Why? All this hysteria around Steve is bad for the company so they'll soften the blow with new products to shift the focus back to Apple and the Mac platform. Quite simply... assure the fans, stocks and shareholders that it's 'business as usual'.

I think that depends on if Steve was planning on taking leave all along. I mean, they decide release dates for these things way in advance... so if Steve's leave is as spontanaeous as suggested, I doubt they can produce a new product just as spontaneously. Although, I hope you are right.

I am happy to wait until July 1st!
My wish list includes a brand new iMac (hopefull Quad Core) with 4GB RAM, maybe a 1TB Hard Disk and an nVidia based video chip, plus Snow Leopard. That's my wish and plan.

Uh huh. Me too. I'm selling off anything worthwhile from my PC just to speed up my saving towards a shiny sexy new iMac.

I really want a new iMac and was ready and waiting with the cash the day of MWSF

I think i can be patience until the end of feb (at least for an event announcement) ... but i guess if i wait until feb then i'll end up waiting until it happens
