We are a huge Apple user family (phones, watch, Mac, iPads etc). I usually hand down my iPads as I upgrade so my husband has my old iPad 1 (or 2, not sure which but it's old and he doesn't care), one daughter has just been given my old iPad Air 2, other daughter has iPad mini and I have iPad pro with pencil. We still have old iPad mini (was daughter's, now she has my air2) and as it's surplus to our needs, we are not sure what to do with it. I use my pro all day everyday in my teaching job plus use it at home. Curious to see if new iPad Air 3 has pencil support and thought I'd sell my pro to get it once it came out, but I find anything less than the pro now too small lol
My family is getting to that point. My mom has an iPad 2 and iPad 3 that she just switches between based on which one is charged more. Two of my sisters have iPad 3s. I had a Wi-Fi iPad Air 2 for almost a year, but I recently upgraded to a cellular one since it was so cheap. My dad had an iPad mini 2, then I gave him my old iPad Air 2. He didn't know what to do with the mini, so he just gave it to me. Since he loves the Air 2 so much, he's also going to upgrade to the cellular model (again, because it's so cheap) and probably pass the Wi-Fi Air 2 to my mom. Not sure if she's going to start using three iPads or get rid of one of her current ones. I don't even know. But we already have more than one iPad per person.

iPad 1, iPad 3 64 cellular, and iPad pro 128 wifi. I am trying to decide if it is even worth selling the iPad 3. Looks like it's only worth around 300.00 at the most. Since I have a life prof case it prob best to keep it for boating and camping and leave the pro at home for those adventures.

Ipad 3, air cellular and pro. The "wrong" ones, but they have been used a lot by me and my family. The others do not use computers any more.

I own one, and when the second Pro comes out I'll only own one as I'll quickly give the one I'm using now as a gift to somebody in my family or a close friend. It's the same thing I plan on doing with phones.

I always buy the biggest as I travel a lot so do not have the internet everywhere. So I purchased one on EE and got the other mini as a resolution to a problem that I had with my mobile provider. Cant wait to get an air 3.

The only full-sized iPad I have not owned is the iPad 4. Had the original, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and now the iPad Pro.

i have 3 in total. An iPad mini 2, an iPad Air 2 and lastly this nice new iPad Pro, all 128GB. I also have the hard to find Pencil. All are LTE versions

My lovely wife thinks I have one too many, and wants me to dump the mini.

What say you!

D

Do you have a purpose for all of them? I have three, they (and their purposes) are as follows:

Cellular iPad mini 4 128GB - This tablet goes with me whenever I leave the house and serves as a back-up to my smartphone should it die. I also take it with me whenever I go on a drive as it serves to replace my smartphone for navigation and my iPod for music.

Wi-Fi only iPad Air 2 128GB - This tablet has a very similar assortment of my apps and media in tow and is basically what I use at home or when I'm going to a friend's place for an extended period of time. It's also what I use when I want the bigger screen for typing.

Wi-Fi only iPad mini 2 32GB - This tablet is in my arsenal solely to run either beta versions of unreleased iOS versions or to run jailbroken versions of iOS. That's it. There is obviously an overlap in functionality and apps between this and the other two, but that's how I am able to see how using the day-to-day runs on either a jailbroken or unreleased version of iOS.

There is overlap in what I do with these. But for the most part, they exist in my arsenal for distinct reasons. I'd say, if you can't make that kind of justification as to why each one is important, then your wife is right. If you can, explain that you have distinct use cases for them and that they're all important. Otherwise, trimming the fat can be quite freeing when it comes to tech.

Man, I really would like to "trim the fat" but I just don't feel like going through the hassle of selling some of my devices. I have a main phone, but every now and then switch between it and two other phones, as well as a fourth phone that I only use on Wi-Fi, three tablets, and a laptop. Some of these devices are a couple years old, but I still use them all regularly, and it feels like a burden sometimes.

Almost my entire family has multiple iPads per person. There are 5 of us with iPad Pros. My mother, sister, & I also have an iPad Air (sister), or iPad Air 2 (mom & me). And my mother has a Mini 2. Lots of iPads for someone who doesn't usually leave the house :). I haven't used my Air since I got the Pro but I learned from past experience that I might wish I still had one if I sold it & it is much more expensive to have to buy again than you get from selling it in the first place. I had a Mini at one time but was disappointed in the weight when I carried it in my purse. Once I got the 6+ (now, 6s+) I didn't really need the Mini. However, I find myself contemplating the Mini 4 since it is smaller than the Mini 2 that I had. All of my iPads after the original have been cellular & I'll stick with that but will have only one on the Mobile Share plan & will just move the Sim around as needed.

If you have so many devices that they're starting to become a burden and selling them is too much of a hassle, just give some away. It could really mean a lot to someone.

Nobody wants them. The only reason I have an iPad mini 2 is because I gave my dad my Wi-Fi iPad Air 2 when I upgraded to the cellular version and nobody really wanted his mini. I'm glad because I actually kind of like to take the mini out with me sometimes because I can store it in my pockets if I have to.

Most of my devices are just old devices that I still use sometimes, so no one really wants them, like a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, Moto X 2013, iPhone 5s, and Nexus 4.

Just the iPad Air. Will be replaced with the new one in the near future.
