It's the most simplest process ever, but the Lion disc from an Apple retailer and go home, put the disc in the computer click a few things then watch it do it's thing :)

I am. I've been watching PPC support dwindle. My G5 still works fine, but I'm going to need a new computer sooner or later. I might as well get the new iMacs when they come out.

I'm really hoping the new imac has a 6950m or 6970m video card.
But if it doesn't have one of these video cards i'll have to re-evaluate my options.

And its already started...

And of course Chris5488 needs to be reminded that ordering with the stock 4 gigs, then ordering 8 gigs aftermarket for the same $100 apple charges for 8... will get him 12 gigs.

Yep, plan to get the top-end 27" iMac. I really want a SSD + HDD this time and am looking forward to Thunderbolt add-ons. I usually upgrade my Macs every other generation so it's time. Plus, I should be able to sell my current 27" iMac for really decent money so it won't be too much out-of-pocket.

Guys, I've got an idea to make Apple release it faster, we all complain saying there forgetting about the desktop side of things in the industry and there loosing customers ;) Haha, imagine if it worked..

I'm looking forward to the new realease but probaby won't buy one. My MBP is working pretty fine despite a few problems but it has Applecare until september...If it doesn't fail before december I might just wait for the new update which by the rumors on this site, might be a whole new design...By then I might have jobs that require much more power than what I have now and won't have access to editing computers at school anymore...

So, I guess in my case it's "wait and see"...

In the event of a purchase, I would probably go for a 27" ultimate...:D

I have been looking into getting an iMac for awhile as my old MBP is well... old. So i would love to buy an iMac, the 27' would be awesome. Im hoping for an SSD+HDD standard option.

My white, first generation MacBook died September 2010. I've been without a computer since then- just relied upon my iPhone.

Now that's painful!

I honestly couldnt do that... I love my iPhone and all but relying on it as my every day connection to the web would be crazy... Hope you find a new Mac soon :)

Believe me it is painful process.

On the flipside it is pretty telling that I've been able to somehow manage with my iPhone. Really looking forward to our new Mac.

Sold my Mac Pro a few months ago and then the 24" white iMac just recently and I'm left with a 2009 15" MBP and a lampmac that I rarely turn on...
I am just about to lose my patience.... :(

I want to replace my Mac Pro 1,1 with the new iMacs coming out soon.

My friend told me I'm stupid to do so because the tower, even though it's old, he said it'll still be more powerful than the new iMac and I should just get a SSD for my Mac Pro instead.

Considering the new alleged specs, should I go ahead and replace my Mac Pro with the new iMac or no? The only thing I could replace in my Mac Pro was the graphics card and even then it wasn't officially supported so it's not like I can upgrade it as much as one would think with a tower.

Advice is definitely appreciated.

Thanks :D

Me!! Me!!! Do any of you know about when these iMacs are going to be released? I have a mid 2007 iMac 20inch and I'm looking for something with more speed. The Buyer's Guide said late April early May so that's about now.

I was going to buy a 21.5 iMac with the Core i3 processor, but are the new ones supposed to have Core i5 processors in them? Forgive my newbie questions but this is my first post in this forum in a long long time. Does anyone know what the prices are going to be on the new iMacs?

Me. I've only got my MacBook Air for the meantime, and cannot wait to grab a 27" Ultimate.

A real iMac with real POWWWWERRRR.

Hmm but i think top specced MacBook Air still feel a bit snappier than iMac, they boot faster while having slower processor than gigantic iMac

That's just ridiculous, but of course MBA can be PITA when it comes to video editing or rendering

True.
iMac with all the POWWERR is for home use, I just can't wait to render something lighting fast.
I can't and won't try any video editing on my MacBook.
I want it to lead a rather lazy life.

Those older MPs were passed by iMacs 2 generations ago.

Just some reassurance that the IMAC will be here soon.

Apple needs the revenue in the upcoming earnings quarter to make up for slowing Iphone4 sales in anticipation of IPHONE5. So the Imac would have to get here at least a month before June 30 to actually book solid numbers, most likely even sooner.
More important is that when it comes out the update is worth the wait. hopefully we see not only a Sandybridge chip, and a thunderbolt port but also SSD as a standard option.;););)

Me too, this will be my first ever Mac as well. I have used PC's for years and sick of virus's and constant upgrading. I always believed a tower was better for upgrades, but to be honest, I never upgraded anything in my towers after I built them initially (maybe increase HD a few times). I built a Hackintosh last year to try out why all the OS X fuss was about. I also compared the price of the 27 iMac to a similar spec'd DELL, they were so close in price but the iMac was half the weight and was fully enclosed behind the stylish screen, I won't need to hide the ugly box anymore. Also the bluetooth keyboards rock, they are so much better to use than the rubbish keyboards that come with DELL/HP or even the standard ones I used to buy. I also like the fact I can run Windows on the Mac so I get more choice for the same price, if I went the Windows way I was locked to Windows or Linux.

Learning the DMG stuff is not as easy as other posters say, took me about 1 minute to work out - I had to search in Google what to do with a DMG file and how to install applications, its so much easier than Windows once you have seen it done, also the app files, just so much easier. I miss the DEL/HOME etc keys and using the Windows Explorer - Finder really SUX! Windows shortcuts are better, but I am slowly working around these, ie, WIN D for showing Desktop, Win E for running Explorer. Sometimes I prefer to use keyboard not the mouse to do things, but OSX is pushing me back to the mouse more unfortunately.
