Learning the DMG stuff is not as easy as other posters say, took me about 1 minute to work out - I had to search in Google what to do with a DMG file and how to install applications

Yesterday I installed Wesnoth 1.9.5 from a dmg. I double-clicked the dmg file, the mounted drive automatically opened. It contained a Wesnoth program icon and a shortcut to applications. It also showed an arrow to indicate that one should drag the program icon into the shortcut. I did that and I was done. It's almost always like that. One double-click and one drag.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

not looking good for the 26th with the white iphone....sigh

I really hope it is tomorrow as I've been waiting for what seems like an eternity. I wouldn't be surprised though to see it released on the 3rd but I guess in 24 hours time we will see what we will see...

Does anyone know when the student promotion and free iPod thing happen? Because 1. I'm a high school student 2. I think there is a promotion that offers a free iPod Touch?

I should clarify really
I meant it was too diferent, it was how installing apps should be. It was too easy I thought it was wrong. I had to google to see if it was right. In Windows I am say yes, Agree, Next, Next, Finish. OSX it was drag to apps, and I was like REALLY, I've done this wrong, it can't be like that, no way.
So what I meant was, I was confused at first because it was easy.

And its already started...

And of course Chris5488 needs to be reminded that ordering with the stock 4 gigs, then ordering 8 gigs aftermarket for the same $100 apple charges for 8... will get him 12 gigs.

Fact, but I'm not so sure... does any 1333mhz DDR3 RAM qualifies? Or does it needs to be something special like 'for Mac'-RAM? What if my iMac wont boot with the new RAM? I know installing is piece of cake, but the compatibility etc.

If I bought RAM myself, would the Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 be perfect?

Ah.. Didn't mean to flame you or anything, just to find out what you meant. And come to think of it, I remember my first app install a few years back and I hardly believed it was done already either. I guess I just got used to it though instead of googling to see if it was okay.

Yeah :D I'm waiting for the new iMac to be released to convince my parents :D I want to get a mac, because there undoubtedly better than my current pc. I'm in year 8, (grade 7) and although you might think I'm too young, this iMac could last me through college. When do you think it will be released?

It's set to be released from 26/4/11 through to 3/4/11 :) And nah I don't thinkg your too young haha, start convincing them now!

Those older MPs were passed by iMacs 2 generations ago.

Can anyone else confirm this? That my Mac Pro 1,1 was passed by iMacs two gens ago?

Also, I forgot to mention my graphic card in my Mac Pro is a ATI Radeon 4870. I tend to game a lot (WoW, Starcraft, Portal 2), and I don't want to go backwards in graphic capability if I can help it.

I know the specs aren't confirmed yet, but based on rumors can anyone help with this?

are u kidding or are you serious? the new iMac with the sandy bridge processor will blow your Mac Pro out of the water, its better by ALL means, whether its graphics, processor, ram. you name it.

Sold my early 09 imac and shipped it today. $899 plus shipping minus fees ain't a bad price is it? I did put a 1TB drive in it and bumped up the ram to 4gb for $40 recently.

Ready for a new one. Or maybe I'll stick with my Windows 7 pc I recently built. IT's actually not too bad.

Guess it depends on what Apple does especially on the lower end.

+1 for me .. i want 2011 iMac, to play Diablo 3 for Mac !! (which still uncertain, but likely to be released this year)

That would be the sweetest christmas holiday for me .. killing all those demons and stand in the path of truth, played only on holy light computer (shiny 2011 iMac) to ban all those darkness

:apple:

Why would I be kidding about that? I'm being totally serious. I don't want to spend between $3000-$4000 if it's not going to be a substantial upgrade.

But now it begs the question...anyone want to buy a Mac Pro with 2 24" Dell monitors :D (or better yet, is there a good place to sell Mac Pros other than ebay?)

Thanks :D

It has been a long wait for this iMac and it's almost here! I have been holding off for at least 6 months and this will be my first official Mac computer. Have a i7 hack but ready for the real thing.

It's probably the last iMac before they merge it with Apple TV.

In 2 years it will be more like a fancy cable box. Imagine having to jailbreak a desktop computer...

Been using the Early 2008 MBP & Late 2008 MBP since they came out as my main processing machine. I am looking to shifting the to the 27-inch iMac Core i7-2600 when it comes out in a few days time.

I've even ordered extra RAM for it in advance so I do not have to wait to upgrade. Now it is a question whether to compromise with 12GB of RAM or 16GB of RAM.

I am planning to upgrade eventually to 24GB or 32GB once single 8GB modules become $50-100.

To be honest I'm not too bothered. Just got a top end 21.5" iMac the other day for about 2/3 of retail - I'm a happy chap :)
