How many of you mute phone most/all the time vs occasionally or seldomly?

I must admit I'm not sure how to answer the poll - is it asking how often I use the mute button (seldom/never) or how often my phone is muted( always set on)?
It is always hard to also figure out what general questions provide enough choices when one makes a poll also LOL. It proved though my sense from other threads that folks used mute most of time in about 2/3’s of the cases. So the choice was trying to find out how many mute of the time, vs just occasionally and I added the third one for folks who never use/touch the mute switch. There might have been better questions that someone better with polls than me could have used ;-)

Phone is on mute/silent 24/7 for 10+ years.

I hate ringtones, text tones, and vibrate.

At my job my phone is always within site to see the screen light up.

We all check our phones many many times per day. I’ve never had an issue not addressing notifications.

Only time I take it off silent is when I actually am expecting a very important call / text our very seldom situations similar to that in public.

I basically on turn on mute while going into a doctors office, dinner spot, theater. Otherwise I prefer to have my ringtone audible.

What I miss is the Nokia silent timed profile: set the silence for the length of the meeting and it would revert back to ring at the end. I can accomplish the same with the new Personal profile; I’ve got it set for Sunday from 10 - 12 am. Never have to think about it anymore.

I never mute as my watch pretty well takes care of everything. At night while watch is charging, the phones column is set so it will not wake me but if awake, I can hear it.

Not sure if the wording means always on mute or just use the switch often, but I answered "use mute all the time or often" b/c I do use the switch frequently enough to be bothered by it's removal. My phone is unmuted most of the time cause I have a family, I don't always wear my watch, and I like my custom ringtones lol. I do mute it whenever my phone going off would disturb others.

I generally like to have audible notifications (I work out in the Field (sometimes literally!) and my hands are rarely free).

On one hand, I truly need my phone/watch to let me know when someone needs to communicate with me.

On the other hand, I'm conscientious of others' desire for quiet/concentration/business, so I usually mute my phone/watch when at the doctor/dentist/gov/grocer/etc./&c.

The gripping hand is remembering to un-mute my phone after doing so ;)

points for the "Mote in God's Eye" reference ;)

I use it everyday to mute my phone lol. I go into meetings and put the phone on mute at night. It would drive me mad not having that function.
Do you need a dedicated physical button for that or would a button in the control center do the trick? I rarely switch out of muted mode so I don't have a good metric for how important the actual mute button is.

The best thing about the physical button is you can check mute status by feeling in your pocket without looking. I know if the switch is pushed toward the back edge of the phone just by feel.
It's an amazing feature when you're at a show and worried, or when you hear someone else's phone ring and you feel in your pocket just to be totally sure.

I’ve seen so many times people fumble around during a meeting when their phone rings to put it on silent mode. It’s always better to have dedicated button for it.
