Is that state tax only or a combination of state and another tax?

What has your experience been like on ST so far? What did you use prior? Asking because I'm contemplating a move to ST. Thanks.

I'm also using ST. So far I have noticed absolutely no difference speed and signal-wise from AT&T. I didn't even have to change my voicemail greeting, and the phone actually shows AT&T at the top for a second or two when I first turn it on, before changing to "HOME".

The only downsides I've noticed:
-2GB cap (even though advertised as unlimited)
-MMS picture messaging requires some technical know-how to get working (but SMS works fine)
-The ST APN proxy for cellular data does seem to block or throttle some sites. For instance, the Speedtest.net app returns a download speed of 0.00, even though I am clearly loading pages just as fast as I was on AT&T (1-7Mbps). Songs on pandora sometimes take longer to start, but then stream just fine. Word on the street is that the proxy can be removed from the APN to correct this, but I'm not sure how ST will react to that. Haven't read that it's a problem.

These downsides are WELL worth the savings for me. :D

I pay about $195 a month, but this is for 2 iphones and 2 "regular" phones for the kids. Unlimited data plans and unlimited texting. Have to pay for texting because the kids phones are not smart phones. 700 shared minutes (we never go over!)

Is this about right?

My experience has been absolutely great! The port and activation process took about 30 minutes to complete. Data speeds are great in my area, call quality is on par as well. You do lose visual voice mail, but that's a small price to pay to save money. I would highly recommend ST.

Here is how Straight Talk breaks my charge down. So in essence, I'm paying more than just sales tax. But it beats the $80/month I was giving VZW each month.

Subtotal $45.00
Discounts and Credits $0.00
Tax1 $2.70
Wireless E-911 Surcharge2 $1.00
Federal Universal Service Charge3 $0.68
Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee4 $0.09
Final Purchase Amount $49.47

Thanks so much for breaking it down like this. It's exactly what I was looking to find out.

Are you using MMS? iPhone 4 or 4S? Any desire to get the next iPhone?

No problem!

I did not do the hack to get MMS working on my 4S. The majority of my friends have iPhone's, so 98% of the time I'm using iMessage. For my friends who have Andriod phones, I usually just text them. Very rarely do we send MMS, so not having it on ST is not a big deal for me.

It really depends on what new features the next iPhone includes. A bigger screen really isn't attractive to me, but LTE is. More than likely, I will stay on ST with my 4S for the time being. I just don't want to get into another 2 year contract on AT&T or VZW just to have the newest iPhone.

Sorry to hijack the thread... I'm not eligible for an upgrade until december, and I would really like not to wait that long. Can I get the phone by using an upgrade on a corporate account to get the subsidized price and then just activate the phone for my number?

About $15 per month in Canada, $10 for unlimited webbrowsing, $1.25 cover 911 fee, a few calls and text here and there for the rest, iphone bought on Kijiji (local classified) . :D

I'm with Big Red:

Share Everything Unlimited Talk & Text: $32 (including 20% university discount)
Dumb-phone #1: $30
Dumb-phone #2: $30
Taxes, Fees, Etc.: $17
TOTAL - $109/mo.

Soon though, we'll be upgrading to iPhones & getting the following:
Share Everything Unlimited Talk & Text w/2GB Data: $48 (including 20% university discount)
New iPhone: $40
iPhone 4S: $40
Taxes, Fees, Etc.: $18
TOTAL - $144/mo.
$72 per line

We use lots of minutes with friends/family abroad and text all of the time. Additionally, we both have Wi-Fi at work and home, so I don't foresee needing any more data than 2GB.

AT&T, 700 minutes, 4 lines(4 iPhones), unlimited family text, unlimited data each line, mobile to ANY mobile, aList; $160/month plus taxes.

208 total, 2 iPhones, 1 regular phone. Unlimited data on 1 iPhone, tethering plan on other, family unlimited text, 550 minutes.

£35 (55$) (contract finishes this december (The new iPhone!!!), it was 24month contract)
iPhone 4 16GB
2000minutes
5000texts
Unlimited data

Wife and I will be switching over to Sprint's Everything 1500 Family Plan

1500 minutes, unlimited texting, unlimited data, any mobile to mobile, unlimited nights and weekends

$109.99 first line - 25% corporate discount = $82.50
$82.50 + $19.99 second line = $102.50
$102.50 + $10 data fee + $10 data fee = $122.50

$61.25 per line

≈ $150 after FAN discount, before taxes and other fees on AT&T

Line 1
$80 - 1400 minutes family plan
$30 - Unlimited texting family plan
$25 - 2GB of data

Line 2
$10 - Second line on family plan
$25 - 2GB of data

≈ -$20 with FAN discount

I'll be switching to the 4GB mobile share plan for $70 + $40 + $40 ≈ $150 before FAN discount, taxes, and other fees so I can get tethering and FaceTime over 3G for pretty much the same price.

I'm both getting what I pay for, and enjoying it immensely.

AT&T has made my experience so good, I don't even have to think about it. With a minimum of 4 lines of unlimited everything, I just use my phones & enjoy them.

Grandfathered for twelve years, as much as I use them, pulling down lots of data, I have not been throttled.

That said I will not disclose the financials, as no one would believe it anyway. Too many haters just waiting to attack. Rather amazing that they have nothing better to do. :)

seems a tad expensive. i have 2 iphones and 2 regular phones as well. we have the texting plan but instead of 700 mins we have 550 mins. it comes to about $150/month

the att plan with 550 minutes only allows you to get 3 lines for that particular minute plan

I pay $160 for three iphones 2 with unlimited data 1 with 2gb and 700 minutes with unlimited texting family plan and any mobile any time, since I converted to the any mobile any time I have never had to watch my minutes again have close to 6,000 rollover minutes with some expiring every month, I am receive a 25% FAN discount as well on the overall bill so it brings it down to $160 accessories are also 50% off....

----------

Best deal is the demo plan I have by far the best deal I gave it to my uncle who doesn't have the best credit but made him pay the $600 for a sprint 4s which kinda sucked but its got 3,000 minutes unlimited data, unlimited text, nights and weekends, sprint tv, tethering, and sets him back $20 a month which is very affordable gotta love the demo plans from sprint...
