I purchased my iPhone unlocked from Apple.com, then walked into a virgin mobile store and bought a sim card for my phone, they gave me a 10% discount on my plan and I am not stuck in a 2 year term. Btw yes this is in Canada.

I assume virgin mobile Canada is GSM.

Didn't know that, I thought sprint owned virgin mobile

2 iPhones and a non-smartphone on AT&T:

$50.00 Family Talk 550
$30.00 iPhone w/ Unlimited
$30.00 Family Messaging
$39.99 iPhone w/ 3GB
$9.99 Non-smartphone

- $17.60 22% FAN discount

Bill w/ fees is usually about $160.

Would actually like to switch to their new 10GB family plan but can't seem to make the numbers work. Looks like we'd save about $15 a month but then have to buy our own phones at full price.

Also considering switching to T-Mobile when our contracts are up but not sure I'm willing to take the hit in service to save a few bucks. Ok, more than a few bucks.

In NZ I pay $29 nzd /$25 usd per month

I get unlimited txts to NZ and Australia
300 rollover minutes to nz and Aussie
And 1gb of rollover data.

I'm on an open term contract so no handset subsidy. Paid $1149 for my 5s 32gb.

In Finland:

- 1200 minutes
- 1000 SMS
- 10 GB 4G data, throttled to 256 kbps after the limit

20 € / month

Can be used for roaming, minutes and SMS in Nordic countries and the Baltic as well so no need to worry about billshock on my immediate travels.

In Australia:

$59 p/m - Vodafone

$750 call credit
Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone
Unlimited txt - but 9/10 times use iMessage
2GB data

How come you paid so much for your phone? In canada I got the 64GB iPhone 5s no contract from apple.com for just under $1100.

Virgin Mobile operates in many countries and in all cases they originally set up joint ventures with a local carrier. Sprint in USA, Bell in Canada T-mobile in UK.

In most cases they eventually sold out their ownership to the carrier hence 100 percent Sprint in USA and 100 percent Bell in Canada. In the UK the reverse happened and Virgin bought out T-Mobile share which was eventually sold on to NTL.

In Italy with Vodafone

400 minutes

1000 SMS/MMS

2 Gb Internet

10€ per month

yeah...i can't believe how low the prices are in Italy. i'm her for work and i got a plan that is 5 euros for 500 minutes which includes calling the US and 1gb of data.

TMO question

T-MOBILE plans of note at this page
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans:
1) $30/mo: 100 minutes talk & text | First 5 GB data at 4G speeds.
2) $3 on days used: Unlimited Talk | Unlimited Text | Unlimited Web, up to 200 MB of 4G LTE Data

Perhaps neither is designed for an iPhone but perhaps a sim could be activated outside of an iPhone and then inserted (after setting APN carrier)

?????

UK

£15/month for:

2000 minutes, 3000 "same network" minutes, 5000 texts, unlimited 4G, unlimited tethering.

That also includes roaming in various countries including the USA, which has been very useful.

No need for any workarounds. Those plans work just fine on the iPhone. I've got a 5c on the $30/5GB plan. Unfortunately, coverage leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks for the response however I should have mentioned that I have an iPhone 4 & 4s, unlocked from AT&T that I would use the TMO sim with.

Doesn't matter as long as the phone's unlocked. My 5c is actually a Verizon version. Caveat, hardware might limit you to EDGE in some areas.

Thanks for the info. Will have to look into the 4s.

Any idea about an iPad Mini which has LTE while the 4s does not.
I'm not sure if the original iPad mini has LTE support for T-Mobile. I reckon Apple might have done something similar to the iPhone 5 here (same model numbers but later releases have hardware for TMo LTE and HSPA+). If you want guaranteed compatibility with T-Mobile's network, get the AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon iPhone 5c or 5s or any LTE iPad rMini or Air.

Verizon - 2 lines - unlimited talk and text - 4 GB of data to share - company discount - $135/month

Wow! You need to change your plan. We are on ATT and have 2 phones getting unlimited talk and text and 10 GB data for $130/mo, as are many on ATT right now.

Not really. One of our phones is subsidized.

MS Value 10GB: $100
Line 1: $15
Line 2: $15
--------------------
Total: $130

If one of the phones is subsidized, then add $25 to the monthly cost bringing it to $155. Only way it can be $130 with one phone subsidized is if you have a hefty corporate discount or if you took advantage of AT&T allowing current customers on 2-year contract to switch to the new plans in which case, it's just a short term benefit.

It's a short term benefit that will last 1 1/2 years.

3 phone all smartphones

Unlimited talk
Unlimited txt
3g of data

Bill 112 plus tax. 25% work discount
LTE in my area so I'm good.
