I used to get every generation. Now I’ve been using the original iPad Pro 12.9 since it was released. Very tempted to get the new 12.9 2020....and almost pulled the trigger like 50 times already.

I got the mini 5 2 weeks ago and I have found my favorite iPad. I’ve owned the iPad 2, 4, air 2, 5th gen, 10.5 pro, and the air 3. Most were sold or given to family. The mini 5 is becoming my most used device (to write this now even). Love it.

I plan on replacing my MBP with an iPad Pro in the future (3-4-5 years)? I’ll buy the new mini when it comes out.
I do love the mini. I’ve had every generation of mini and currently have the 5th generation. It’s the perfect size.

From IPad 2 to the original IPad Pro 9.7. So I guess rarely until they bite the dust! lol

I upgrade tablets only when they no longer do what I want acceptably (which is also true for phones and computers). So based on my history I expect my 2020 iPP to last about 7 years - if it doesn't then that would cast doubt on its replacement being another iPad.

I normally upgrade every 3-4 years. However, I currently have a 2016 9.7 Pro with Pencil and Keyboard - all are working perfectly. I wouldn’t mind a new one but don’t want to chance all the screen touch issues that I read about on here. Has Apple fixed those issues?

In the Pro is not issue. Or iPads. Not sure what issues your talking about. Forums attract people tying to solve problems so you will see post about issues that represent such a small fraction of sales. Again I said this before being part of car forums you’d think all cars I’ve owned were pieces of 💩 given post of people experiencing problems but the 6 I’ve had have been reliable and solid.

There’s was an iPhone max user here who posted their screen broke after dropping on Carpet. Lol

I have been pretty happy with Apple products with a big exception the XS Max phone. I bought and returned 2 different phones 6 months apart. I could not get them to work. Both had terrible connectivity - cellular, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity to the point of being unusable. I ended up returning both. It was awful and Apple just denied any issues.

The intel modems in them sucked for the cellular connectivity but never had any other issues with my xs max.

I got my iPad Pro 2020 (with Magic Keyboard and pencil) in June and it has been running well. Since I got my M1 toy, I am not using the iPad Pro every day most all day) like I was. I do not plan on upgrading my iPad for a a few years at least.

I had/have:
iPad 3 (at launch)
iPad mini 2 (a few weeks after launch)
iPad mini 4 (traded in mini 2 about 2 years ago)
iPad Pro 11" 2018 (middle of 2020)

The only 2 I still have are the mini 4 and the 11" Pro. I do want to upgrade the mini 4..but works okay for light web surfing. I like the 11" pro, but have at times thought about getting rid of it mostly due to how much I love the mini size. But the 11" size is now okay (after struggling for months to find a decent workflow) for getting some light work done when I use external keyboard and trackpad.

Realistically, at this point I'll probably only upgrade once the 11" Pro develops problems...and I may just look for an Apple Silicon laptop at that point. My iPhone XR size (and speed) is still large enough for extended use to take the place of my iPads. I'll probably upgrade iPhone once the XR becomes too slow..but I don't foresee upgrading for another 2 years or so..

- iPad mini
- iPad Air
- iPad Air 2
- iPad Pro 11"

Haven't had so many. My Air 2 was fantastic, had it for 4 years. Hoping the new Pro will last just as long!

I don't really have it scheduled. Basically, if I see new features I like or find useful and the price is acceptable, I'd go for it.

And this is the smart thing to do, upgrading for the sake of incremental improvements that won't change your day to day use of it is, to me, is like throwing cash away.

Me personally, I won't update until there's a significant feature to make it worth it, or OS updates have ceased. So I went from an iPad OG 9.7 Pro to a 2020 iPad Pro.. 4-5 years? And really I did it only for the bigger screen size.

I’ll be paying close attention to this years iPad launch. I do have the 2018 model, but i’m very curious to see how Apple pushes the Pro line-up is year.

I don’t do anything particularly demanding on them so it depends when I feel the battery isn’t lasting long enough.
Do you bother with battery replacements?
Or is the short battery life because the newer OS is too draining?

I’ve found that it can be either. My older iPhone on the newest iOS has terrible battery life now, even though the battery was replaced not that long ago. I hate that Apple doesn’t let people revert iOS versions.

But other times poor battery life can be solved with a simple battery replacement. The only problem is Apple seems almost reluctant to replace batteries even when people want to pay for it. I.e. why in the world does the device need to pass their proprietary battery test first if we’re paying?

I am on a 10.5 iPad Pro since 2017 and don’t intend to switch until there are major issues. I do have the white spot and I considered switching to the new 11pro, but ultimately decided against it. I’ve gotten used to it and I mostly use dark backgrounds so it’s not as noticeable. Since I won’t get any trade in value back from my current ipad I expect it will be 3-4 more years with this one.

That’s weird. Not sure what to make of it.
