They're only supporting existing iOS 8 devices because iOS 9 is more of a minor update. I'd give it a 5/10 mainly because of the new multitasking features, but even then it's only supported on the iPad Air 2.
Apple develop it explicitly for, upcoming still unknown iPad pro, iPad Air 3, and iPad mini 4.

I agree that A5 is not powerful enough to go through this, but when A7 is instantly old that split view is not supported as well?

Apple does poor work on deep code optimisation. I think, even this function is limited to light weighted app, it would be really great.

Even a clean install ate battery like a hungry pig.(iphone 6) back on 8.3 for now..
I have upgraded my notes to iOS 9 version, meaning I can no longer revert back to iOS 8. What the heck. :(
Power issue is still there. The only thing which is lucky enough, is the power is still capable of using phone for about 4 hours. However, I can play music 9 hours, with screen on.

I don't think Apple will be introducing 3 tablets. It's a toss up whether they update the iPad Air 2 & iPad Mini 3, but you can most likely pencil them in for the iPad Pro.

But I'm definitely pleased with Apple actually given some attention to the iPad with iOS 9. I enjoy the Music app on it as well.

iOS 9 has given new life to the iPad..

installed on a 6+ yesterday and put in backpack. Battery dead today. No use.

really liked the battery save feature and optimizations being done. Some of the little touches overall are what I wanted

the talk about performance enhancements was nice, but I will wait to see it in action first on older devices

here's hoping they do bring in the enhancements, not only to battery optimization but also to performance on the older iPhones/iPads

Yeah. You know, I use my outdated iPad mini as the secondary screen, in order to let it become more productive.
Unfortunately all key features brought for iPad will need to say goodbye to iPad mini. This is sad, although I admit A5 is old enough not able to handle those things.
For music app in iPad, I wonder why Apple abandoned the landscape mode in iPhone? Because the landscape is not good for using? iPad landscape is good, although I think Apple could do it better.

Current beta is a real beta software. Prepare to dowgrade or a power pack, which I suppose you will choose the former choice.

Yeah kinda figured that. Call me crazy, but I don't see any differences other than a new stock wallpaper.

I wasn't aware that Apple abandoned landscape for the iPhone, I doubt they do this with the 6 Plus... Since they have many stock apps using landscape view.

But yes, I agree. iPad Mini will not see a huge upgrade... I think Apple would try to push customers toward the iPad Airs & the upcoming iPad Pro, especially with bigger iPhones becoming the new standard.

In fact more in iOS 9 is hiding under the scene. But when you realise them, you may say, iOS can be so smooth to use than before.
This comment may a little bit arrogant, but I can see Tim cook is planning to build a more usable iOS.

The lack of the new multitasking features such as split screen and picture in picture on all devices except the iPad Air 2 is not because of the processor, but because of the RAM. The iPad Air 2 is the only iDevice with 2GB of RAM.

Only the split screen is exclusive to the iPad Air 2.

Because this allows two apps run simultaneously, I bet Apple will release split screen function to future iPad with more than 2GB of RAM.

More than likely. But the other new features are available on more of the older iPads.

Well, in my own view, split screen function is more practical and more astonishing for iPad user right?
Just like Mac OS X El Capitain, finally iPad users can enjoy split screen operation on their screen, which is a very standard and solid function in all Windows tablets.

A solid 1/10

1. Most of the U.S. only features will take ages to reach my country (IN).
2. Unnecessary addition of blur or transparency in more places to cripple our devices. Eg. Background of new multitasking.
3. No Dark mode for using our iDevice at night.
4. No default apps.
5. The touch response feels very Androidy.
6. San Francisco font is "meh"

I love (bolded that with the iPad keyboard) the multitasking! It's come in handy so far with notes and directions.

All of them are there, but I think they will only sync with devices on iOS 9 and OS 10.11
I have updated all of my devices capable running iOS 9 to iOS 9. And, notes have been updated, as well.
The only thing I cannot update now is the Mac OS X El Capitan. I don't really know why, although I know this is also a beta software.

10/10 so far on both iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6+. FINALLY Apple fixed the goddam landscape bug on the iPhone 6 so for the first time since its release, the iPhone 6+ is actually useable.

The multitasking and PiP is fantastic on the iPad and I'm blown away by the cursor control and two finger selecting.

I wasn't aware of the landscape bug on the 6 Plus. What are you referring to?
