I would suggest that when you receive your Spigen stand the first thing you do is put it top down on something you know is flat and check to see it the Spigen is sitting flush with the surface. If not return it for a replacement.

Mine is being delivered tomorrow so I will certainly check this. Thanks 👍

I just checked my stand again. Flipped it over. The notch is aligned with the hole in the bottom of the Studio.

But, ever-so-slightly, it is raised to one side. It's not the end of the world. Only I would notice it.

But then, when I flipped the stand over, I saw that the rubber on one of the feet was peeling off. I had to stick it back on.

I mean even at $36, about half the price of the $70 Spigen wants, this is a cheaply made stand that shouldn't cost more than $20.

I am still in the return window and I think I am going to send this back and take a chance on a replacement is better. Something tells me it won't, however.

I don't have the original packaging it came in, but I don't think Amazon cares.

I don't have rubber feet on mine I wonder if you happened into an earlier production model. Amazon does not care, what I have done is put the return in the packaging the replacement came it to return it.

Oh, Sh*t! Novel idea. Duh.

I usually send the return out immediately before I get the replacement so I will just hold on till the replacement gets here and use the old packaging.

Feel dumb for not thinking of that. I'll start the return process and hope the replacement works better.

Thanks as always, transmaster.

Spigen stand arrived today and successfully installed. Snug fit and flush all round. The rubber feet are great for non-slip even on my perforated monitor riser which already helped deter dust. Will now keep an eye on temperatures and performance. Thanks to all those that helped/suggested 👍🏻

Looks slightly raised on the right side. Same issue with all the stands. It's very slight but I can see it.

I probably wouldn't do this if I had to look at it…but I got a filter at the NAPA auto parts store.

View attachment 2183488

It's a NAPA 2061 (same as a Wix 42061) for a 1964 Ford Mustang.

Genius, if it works. I gutted an old Mac Mini, and the amount of dust and (dog) hair in it was shocking, and I've seen some dirty systems. My Mac Mini sits next to a thermometer, and the temp jumps up to 5 to 6 degrees often. There is a LOT of heat, and air, moving through that thin box.

What is that "perforated monitor riser" thing? Looks promising.

It's the bottom half of a stand riser that I bought it with the idea that the perforated base would stop most dust from landing and being sucked into the Mac Studio airflow. Since I had it in December it has been successful with very minimal dust being caught in the grill. So I bought the Spigen as a secondary precaution.

The automotive air cleaner gave me an idea. Instead of just getting the air filter element why not modify the whole air filter assembly. The air cleaner for the 1964 Mustang was used on a bunch of Ford and Mercury cars into the 1970's. The chromed top cover and the Ford blue base looks real good. You can get filter elements in blue and green. All you would have to do in cut a hole in the top put a rubber grommet around this opening seal the bottom and drop you Mac Studio into it. If you are an automotive type this would look so good. The Ford 302 V8 stock does something like 435 CFM of intake air. The 2 fans on the Mac Studio combined perhaps 90 CFM. This air cleaner assembly would outlast the Mac Studio sitting on it. These assemblies cost about $50 bucks.

So, I got my replacement SPIGEN stand from Amazon yesterday.

This one was no better than the original. I am convinced that the Studio won't sit 100% straight on the stand without a little bit of wobble when you press gently down on it. If yours does, it's one in a million.

However, the raised end of the Studio is so slight that unless one knows it's there, it won't be recognized. For that reason, I still think this is a solid product that I would recommend. I just think, however, it's built cheaply and should not be purchased for more than $40.

I do have to chuckle at the high-tech solution by @iAssimilated (above). Technically, it's better than nothing and keeps the Studio off the desk and away from dust.

Got my Spigen today. On the right front edge you can slide 1 x 80gsm piece of paper between the Spigen and the Mac Studio and on the left side the gap allows 4 x 80gsm sheets (not folded). So you can feel the movement if you push down from the top left hand side. Quite happy with it though.

Congrats on getting your Spigen.

I don't think anyone needs to go that far. The gap is crazy minimal. I think the only reason we are talking about it is that we are all gadget fanatics and any product imperfections will be amplified.

However, if anyone is bothered by it, you offer a viable solution.

What about turning it upside down? Heat tends to rise, so putting it upside down would help flow. If the Studio top gets hot like the Mini, someone could come up with either a passive or active cooling solution. Maybe a large aluminum block?

Here is something to consider. There is automotive air cleaner wraps. This is a pre-filter material that off roaders use to help in filtering the dusty air. You can purchase it in bulk rolls that you can cut with a pair of scissors. It is available in foam and a fine mesh cloth. The Foam material will keep everything out, and is easily cleaned in the sink with soap and water. It would be very easy to cut a piece to fit in the bottom of the Spigen stand.

All good. I was only offering the clearances as a data point for any thinking it may be a problem.

PinkyMcGoddess in honor of your banner. Here is the original from Klaatu.

I am going to keep and eye out because I am sure there is going to be numerous filter options for the Mac Studio in the future.

Thanks for the heads-up

I don't think it looks as nice as the Spigen

Also, doing a U.S. conversion, it's more expensive than the Spigen.
Looking at the specs for the Hagibis stand, its filter size is 0.175mm, whereas the Spigen has a filter size of 0.77mm, which is a big difference. The Hagibis also accommodates both the Studio and Mini. I’d be tempted to try the newer stand myself. What does everyone else think?
