HOW TO: Install Official MMS on Jailbroken iPhone 3G/3GS (3.0-3.0.1)

Using Mac, iTunes 9.0.1, 3GS and restarted itunes..still get error

Personally I'd rather have tethering than MMS, but that's just me. Never understood the obsession with MMS. If I could have both MMS and tethering, that would be another story...

There shouldn't be any zip folders downloaded. There's just the ipcc.

Ah! Safari was adding a .zip extension and "unzipping" it. Once I removed the .zip extension, worked like a charm! Thanks!

Im thinking it has to do with some of the JB apps or modifications we have on our phones. Unfortunately I'm clueless as to what apps these could be.

I want to try it, but im at work atm and the machine i have the pdanet program installed to is at home.

Or anyone use normal tethering?

Getting this same error but I'm trying this now from my work pc which I've never synced my iphone to.

I'm assuming this only works on the PC where you sync your phone to. Has anyone successfully done this on a pc that they never sync their phone to?

I did it just now on my work computer that I never sync to and it worked. Make sure iTunes is closed when you do the command prompt.

3a. Click Start > Run > type:cmd then press enter. Run this command: "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

After going through the entire process of activating MMS (successfully), do I have to anything to setting iTunes back to original, whatever that cmd line item did?

Found out why people are getting the error.

Did you install a carrier theme from Cydia? Like the AT&T logo? If so remove that and try again. It seems that others before were getting that error because of this.

I removed my AT&T carrier logo and I do not have winterboard installed, so no other themeing. Still getting this error...

That was it! AT*T carrier logo. I uninstalled it in cydia and then resprung.

Must be something else you have installed. Most others with this issue were able to fix it by uninstalling the carrier logo.

Going to try this now. I have the att logo but that's it. No custom themes. I tried my friends 3.0 non jailbroken on my pc at work and I was able to do it for her. Mine is 3.0 and jailbroken so I think it might be some jailbroken app or setting preventing me from doing this if it's not the att logo.

Update: Successfully installed after removing the att logo from cydia. Thanks.

Its been working on tmobile, just enter your tmobile settings.

Has anyone updated from 5.0 to the 5.5? Im currenty on 5.0 with tether and mms working since a month ago and was wondering if anyone has updated and been able to keep their mms and tethering. any advantages to upgrading now?

Yes uninstall Make it mine also. Anything that alters the carrier logo.

Well this really sucks. I don't have anything else on my phone that has anything to do with carrier settings. I don't even have that many JB apps.

Interesting...I have Fake Carrier installed (like MIM) and have my carrier logo changed. The workaround for MMS still worked just fine for me. FYI I also have a heavily modded phone (Winterboard, changed notification sounds, carrier logo changed, etc).

Yes, if you used MIM to put something in there, remove it and reboot, then update carrier.
