I am getting a strange error when I try to do this. I am running a 3.0.1 jailbroken 3gs and itunes 9. I have never messed with any of the carrier files and I am on windows 64bit. Everything runs smooth then i go into itunes and click the ipCc file. It goes to the updating carrier settings screen then gives me the error message " The phone "Connor's Iphone" could not be updated. An unknown error occured (0xe80003D). Anyone know how to fix this?

Troubleshooting:
Those receiving the 0xE800003D error: Did you install a carrier theme from Cydia? Like the AT&T logo or MakeitMine? If so remove that and try again. It seems that others before were getting that error because of this.

It Worked :)

I unistalled my AT&T carier logo theme and installed the carrier file to my iphone now i have MMS on my jailbroken iPhone 3G 3.0:):):):):)

Weres the Thanks button on this forum i've been looking for a solution to my problem and now i found it here.

Still getting RED ! when sending MMS

Jailbroken 3G running 3.0, no carrier logo installed, updated the carrier settings and see camera button to send MMS, but when I try I get a red exclamation point each time, any ideas?

battery killer?

is it me or does the stealth settings drain the 3gs battery faster?

i am on 3gs with 3.01 and running the stealth settings. since i loaded those prefs i can see the battery % drop about 1% for every 1-2 min surfing the web on 3g.

i could swear that wasn't happening before. everything works tho - visual VM, mms, tethering. looks like i am getting 30-40% less battery time overall running with 3g, location and push services off.

another funny thing i noticed - the battery drain is also not accurate. put the iphone to sleep and then turn it back on and the battery strength jumps back up a few %. it's like somehow the stealth settings impacted the battery meter calibration.

Hi, I have a jailbroken iphone. I did the hack introduced last week and installed the carrier update 5.0. My mms is working just fine. Does anyone know the different in 5.0 and 5.5? Should I install the att released 5.5?

Thanks :) :confused:

Can anyone running 5.1 or 5.5 list the MMS settings listed in their Cellular Data settings, located in SETTINGS>GENERAL>NETWORK>CELLULAR DATA NETWORK

good luck trying to find help regarding different carrier file. ive posted twice and no answer at all.

@ItsDarts: here are my settings with 5.1 hacked carrier file:
Cellular Data
APN: wap.cingular

Visual Voicemail
APN: acds.voicemail

MMS
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
PW: CINGULAR1
MMSC: 209.183.32.189
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Max Message Size: 61440
MMS UA Prof URL: http://apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

I still have MMS, tethering working. havent tried visual voicemail, is that like a video voicemail? ive never used it before.

i wanted to know if it is even worth updating my carrier file if my 5.1 is still working.

I had this too... some messages would send, but most would time out.

I changed to these settings and it works great now:

APN: wap.cingular;
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com;
Password which is case sensitive: CINGULAR1;
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com;
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32

for anyone using SwirlyMMS you need to disable the iPhone MMS feature in settings to get it to work properly.

Just thought i would share, been running into some trouble with both of them installed and enabled.

So I was having so much trouble with my MMS. Once I updated to 5.5 I kept on getting the red exclamation point, and nothing I tried worked. I even removed everything I had installed from Cydia except the ringtones.

Finally once I did a reset of all setting I got 4 picture messages that friends had sent to me testing their iPhones and hopefully this will help you if you are still having the red exclamation point after successfully installing the 5.5 or 6 carrier ipcc.

YOU WILL NOT LOOSE ANY DATA for all of your worry nuts. This is so simple and I hate that it took me 2 days to do this.

Settings / General / Reset / Reset All Settings

Hopefully this will help a few of yall! :D

so a reset all settings will not affect the jailbreak at all?

Did this, didn't work. Restored from back up (unjailbroke) and it didn't work. Restored to New Iphone, only syncing the contacts, calendar and mail, no apps, it didn't work, still get the red (!). Took to AT&T store, they checked my IMEI and ICCID and that was fine. THey said there was some block on my text plan, but after removing it, it STILL didn't work. Final option they had to offer me was to take it to the iphone Bar at an Apple store, I told them I'd go, but 5 will getcha 10 that they send me back to AT&T. I'm now running (gag) OS3.1 with the 5.5 IPCC with a full restore to new Iphone 3G and no MMS. At least my phone will be clean when I take it in. Can anyone confirm if "restore to new" wipes out all remnants of a jail break and only syncing legit apps and other files? I didn't do a sync from backup. What I'm wondering is if the BenM carrier code (for tethering) I installed a while back left some nasty little thing behind that doesn't allow the new carrier to function properly with MMS and doesn't get wiped when doing a "restore to new". AT&T cant use the outage excuse with me anymore since they had 3 phones at the store all working fine while trying to diagnose my phone in the Detroit area.

This option isn't available for the 5.5 IPCC, there is no cellular data network page to enter this info.

Yes, Set up as new phone gets rid of all the JB gremlins.

You should be A-OK

I thought so, but now I'm wondering if I have hardware issues. I bought my 3G about a month after they came out in 2008. Haven't had any real issues with anything until now. I guess I'll find out thursday at the Iphone bar. :(

let us know if "restore to new" works. im thinking about tryin the same. i had at&t check my account also to no avail. it probably was the BenM tethering hack the f'ed up something.

Sweet, 6.0 is working without Benm. Now to actually get a voice mail since most of my friends have stopped leaving them since no one ever got their voice mails unless they restarted their iphones.

EDIT: Visual Voice Mail working, w00t!

So going by the OP if I just update to the official IPCC I will loose Visual Voicemail?

Can someone explain why that is?

I have Jailbroken 3G.
