many people say that the final public release is NOT identical to the GM , that's why.

Pending any last minute bugs they decide to fix, you are already on the final release. The exact same one that will be coming out to the masses on Wednesday. You simply got it early. If the public release does end up being a different build, you'all see a software update. That's it.

If it somehow isn't the same thing, and a newer build gets released, assuming you got rid of the beta profile, you'll simply be offered the newer build as an update to install.

The public beta GM is a build to test the GM .. I guess, that's the easiest to explain that.

Once the beta is over, you have the option to upgrade from PB GM to stable GM that everybody else gets too.

Well, the "PB" GM would generally be the final public GM that gets released to everyone, short of any major issues that require an update, which would then also show up as an update for those who have the "PB" (or developer) GM.

The id numbers are not unique. You can upgrade to the gm everybody gets.

And that GM would generally be the same build that you already have (again, short of some major issue that required it to be updated, in which case you would get that update offered as well).

Yes, I know how it works. His question is how to install it. The answer is, their id is different, who cares if it's matching the final release to the public? .. the result is the same, he will get it presented and it will upgrade just fine.

That's the thing, if the builds are different, which would be if there has been an update of some sort, which would then be offered as an update to those with the GM now. Generally the builds are not different though, so an update wouldn't exist and thus wouldn't be offered.

Right. Which means that if the public gets a newer build somehow as the final release then he will get it as an update too, otherwise, if as usually the case, the public will get the same GM build as the final release, then there wouldn't be anything to update to at that time since he would already have that same build.

that IS the entire point...
will the public release of ios 10 even be offered on a phone that already has the public beta GM installed?
whether or why anyone would want to reinstall the "identical" software was not the question ... will it be offered, as it would be on a phone that is still on 9.3.whatever ?

Again, if it's actually a different build, then it would be offered as an update. If it's not a different build, as is often the case, then there wouldn't be any update to offer as those with the GM would already have that build.

If you are running any GM build you are already running the build that will be released on Tuesday - it is identical to the bit. If not it will be available in software update. /thread

So even if you removed the profile also, you won't get any update to the release on 13th, it's because the are identical with the one you have right now on your phone, it's like you say I have x and I want to have x again.

You will get update if the 13th version would be higher than what you have on your phone right now, which is the case for the phone that is running 9.3.x

Many people don't understand how software releases work thus those many people are wrong.

If it were changed it would be via a . Update. Otherwise they are bit for bit identical.

If only that was understood after so many mentions of it.
