Darn I'm confused... lol

What is there to be confused about. If you've already installed the GM only one of two things can happen on the 13th.

1: in typical GM fashion, it's the same build and nothing is required of you on this day as far as updating goes.

2: for whatever reason the build changes, your device will see the newer build and you can update to that.

In short, you need to do nothing or you will have a small update to the GM. Profile or not.

Gotta be in it to win it
that IS the entire point...
will the public release of ios 10 even be offered on a phone that already has the public beta GM installed?
whether or why anyone would want to reinstall the "identical" software was not the question ... will it be offered, as it would be on a phone that is still on 9.3.whatever ?
Here is my experience. I was on the last dev beta of 9.3.3. When 9.3.3 went live I wasn't offered an upgrade, while my friends it was offered as an upgrade.

When 9.3.4 came out, it was a full install for me. 1.x gigs. I would expect a similar type of scenario here. If the public release is the same build, no software update. The next update will be a full install though. With or without the profile.

Should I be doing the usual double backup every time, even for a x.x.x update?

I backup once a week. I have never had my phone bricked by an upgrade, but if you are the cautious type, then nothing wrong with backing up.

So you backup REGARDLESS of whether there's an update or not?

Doesn't iCloud automatically do daily backups?

I use itunes backup. Mostly I backup due to the pictures, but it never hurts to have a current backup, for reasons other than an OTA update bricks your phone. You can lose the phone or damage the phone etc.

See, I use iCloud Photo Library, so I don't have to worry about my photos. With my iCloud storage and iPhone combined, I have the same amount of storage space as my Mac.

The build is usually the same between GM and Public but there is usually added stuff like new wallpapers in the public release.

I have a question.

I put on the public beta profile so I can install the 10 GM. Should I now delete the Beta Profile or just leave it on there?

I wasn't sure if I left the beta profile on there if I would still get updates as usual or not.

Forgive the question, but this is the first time I put on the beta profile.

If you no longer want to receive future betas and just want to get the official releases from now on then you can delete the profile now.

How has this thread reached 3 pages :)

The GM is the same as the public release - it had to be as phones are already on route to the retailers.

The only way that might have changed is if there had been a major security breach between last week's event and tomorrow.

There hasn't been, so anyone with the GM will just continue to receive updates as normal as they are released.

No need to do anything . . .

I'm sure you'll need to say this at least 3-4 more times in this thread alone. I am really aghast at how hard this seems to comprehend.

Hello all,

First post, and they usually arise because someone has a question - forgive me!

Those of us on the GM 10.0.1 BETA release wanting to return to general candidate releases:

Do we simply remove the BETA profile from our devices and then general releases will start being pushed out to us, the same as everyone else? (10.0.2 - 10.1 - 10.2.3.... etc..)

Or do we need to restore our devices via iTunes and reinstall the general iOS 10.1 release, even though the iOS is identical? (it may still be seen as a BETA release and not compatible with general patch releases).

Many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this.

Excellent - I thought as much, just wanted to confirm.
Many thanks!
No problem. If Apple release 10.0.2 today or tomorrow or whenever (if a bug is discovered) then the update will show up fine on your devices running 10.0.1.
If you keep the profile on your device and they release beta 1 of 10.1 (that could be this week or next actually) then that would show up unless you remove it.

But once you take that new BETA release (potentially in the coming weeks), then your are bound to the BETA releases unless you perform an iTunes restore from your computer?
