I followed some of the instructions on the video that was posted in the earlier pages.

I switched the background to completely black and the battery life improved over 30% (probably more).

Try it.

Did you set up a blank black background for the lock screen or the home screen? (or both?)

I have a question, does enabling TRUTONE increase or most likely decrease overall battery life?

Brand new X, battery lasts about a day or two. Maps eats it up. I imagine the display is the biggest draw. I've noticed the X charges much slower off USB than my old iPhone, so I'm guessing the battery stores a much greater charge.

I really don’t notice much of a difference than my old 6 Plus with s year old battery. I’m happy with that.

My X is sitting at 55% on the battery right now. I'd say this is pretty stellar battery life:

It is but looks like u haven’t been using ur phone much buddy!

Hello all! I've been reading through this forum and I've been having questionable battery life on my X.

Here's some background: I received the phone on launch day and I set it up as a new phone (I expected the battery to have to settle in but it hasn't changed much for me.) I have only a small, core amount of apps I keep on my phone, and I usually keep the screen brightness on the lower end at the bottom of the sun design.

I'm not what you would call a "power user" I'm usually using Messages mainly, checking Twitter and Instagram about once an hour and occasionally on Snapchat and every now and then checking emails.

I updated from a 7+ and would regularly get between 8 and 9 hours of us usage with a standby of 22hrs-1 day+
I've been disappointed with the battery life on the X, getting on the lower end of 6 hours of usage when I get to 1% with standby of about 14-16 hours. This isn't bad but it isn't great as I do have longer than usual days with school and work and I travel often with long days on the go with really no access to charge.

I miss the battery life on my 7+ because it seems like it would be better at managing how I use my phone. I could wake up and leave my house around 7am, use it on a heavier than usual basis say on a Friday for work and school, then meet friends out at happy hour around 5:30p with about 60-70% remaining.

I know this message is tedious but could it be there are some faults in certain batteries? I don't use bluetooth, usually I'm on wifi, background app refresh is off, mail fetch is off, app updates are manual.

I'm thinking a trip to Apple is next :( but I don't like being that paranoid iPhone user always at the Genius Bar.
Hard reset ur phone whenit turns on turn it back off completely! Let it rest for 5 min and turn it back on! It should fix the problem for you!

Have you gone to "Settings > Battery" and see which apps are using the most battery % in the past 24 hours? I found Facebook was using 56% of my battery, deleted it, and reinstalled, and the problem went away.

Also, click on the little clock to the right of the 24h/7d buttons"? Then see if one of the high use apps is doing a lot of activity in the background. Often if that is happening you can delete the app and reinstall it and it may fix the issue if it was the app's settings that were sucking battery.

Also, for now, switch to using Safari for Facebook and Youtube when you are on battery - it draws less power.

Also, go through "Settings > Privacy > Location" and see which apps are set to use location "Always" and change them to "when using app" or "never" if you don't need always (I only have 4 apps set for always).

You already have "background app refresh" and mail fetch" off, but what about "turn off animations", and setting the background on the home screen or lock screen to a dark or a black picture?

If you select low-power mode this could do all or most of those things with one button. Oh yeah, also do the reboot the phone thing will all apps closed.

Dont know if this is normal or a bug... Had the phone off the charger an hour ago and noticed that under battery setting the battery usage has not been updated yet. It still shows my last full charge from other night. Isnt it supposed to update my battery usage (apps run time) after I unplug it from the charger?

Sometimes if you don't touch the phone soon after unplugging it you won't see it update for a while, as the phone had gone into a trickle charge mode and the battery is so full, but once you use it just a couple off minutes it realizes it's not plugged in.

Likewise, sometimes if I plug in a MacBook after tripping over the power cable, when I plug it back in and it's at 98-99%, the MacBook won't try to charge until I use it for a minute or two.

Standby and Useage are reset but apps are still not and it’s been 2 hours now

Currently at 45%, that was after getting taken off charge Sunday morning at 7am (so nearly 54 hours ago). Not charged it at all since then. Like I've said before, I only use my phone for regular phone stuff like calls and messages mainly, but this thing is a beast when it comes to battery.

Battery life still very good even when my phone is on 4G where my 7 plus would drain like crazy when not on WiFi

5 hours,40 minutes usage
11 hours, 11 minutes usage

75% left

Most used apps

Match 23%
Mail 12%
Phone 10%
Photos 8%
