That doesn’t seem to be the common thought around here from people that have been using the X for awhile. The 8 plus might be slightly better, but most say it’s really close.
There's a large # of people claiming the 8+ gets almost twice the battery life as the X. THis is macrumors after all.

How long have you had the X, and what version of iOS are you on?

Currently I'm on 11.1.2. Have had the X for a little over three days.

Twice as much is a lie. I was getting about 20% better battery life

My battery has not been an issue on the X - have yet to run it down ever. Since it is a 2-cell battery I seem to be getting more juice and longer lasting battery life than on my iPhone 7 Plus.

Battery life is fine. Not as good as the 8+

I have the 8 Plus as well...gave it to my son when I bought the X. Look a couple of posts up...my X battery life is just as good if not better than the 8 Plus. 6:22 / 29:51 with 17% battery left. I wonder why your X battery life is not as good as mine?

No way. I don't believe it. I have both. Not true from my experience.

Well I've only had the X for a few days, I'll see if it gets better. But even on the first day I had the 8+ I realized how great the battery was.

Because 6:22 with 17% remaining isn’t “good battery life”. 8:30 at 17% and I would call it great!

Oh that gives a bit more context, but keeping the screen brightness at the lowest setting means you can experience the phone as its best. That would drive me crazy.
Same with the black wallpaper that people are using.. also I realize that a lot of people here with awesome battery life don’t seem to actually make phone calls with their phone, which is always my biggest battery eater every single day (bad reception).

Well some us like the black style wallpapers. That aren’t a compromise, but yes some don’t make phone calls.

Actually, yes, it is great battery life.

I consider great battery life if 10% equals one hour. It was like this on the 7+.
10 hours of usage should be expected- Apple states 12 hours of web browsing and 20 hours of voice calling, which I think is both vastly overstated...

I followed some of the instructions on the video that was posted in the earlier pages.

I switched the background to completely black and the battery life improved over 30% (probably more).

Try it.
It makes sense, yes. But it looks like an iPhone 3g...

Didn't use my iPad or 7+ today, only my iPhone X, with pretty good battery life without any tweaks or changes. Got 6 hours 24 minute Usage / 15 hour 15 minute standby with 56% battery remaining.

Battery life is equivalent to my year old 7 Plus, which isn't good at all. But! I honestly think this is down to the majority of apps I use not being optimized and a couple games being resource hungry.

With the heat it gives off when I launch said apps, I'm certain it's the reason the battery is quite pitiful, at the moment.

Suppose we should give it a bit of time.

I get about 8 hours of usage. I feel like it should be better considering all of the screenshots I see people getting more usage than me. Is there something I’m doing wrong ? Can someone give me some tips on how to improve battery life so i can get more actual usage time ?

Well, maybe that is what they were after. The silver model is like the step child that we did not know about for all these years. It’s like there was a parallel devolpment of 2 phones and after Steve jobs died, they decided to bring it to market. I would argue that Steve would not have approved the design of the X.

Hello all! I've been reading through this forum and I've been having questionable battery life on my X.

Here's some background: I received the phone on launch day and I set it up as a new phone (I expected the battery to have to settle in but it hasn't changed much for me.) I have only a small, core amount of apps I keep on my phone, and I usually keep the screen brightness on the lower end at the bottom of the sun design.

I'm not what you would call a "power user" I'm usually using Messages mainly, checking Twitter and Instagram about once an hour and occasionally on Snapchat and every now and then checking emails.

I updated from a 7+ and would regularly get between 8 and 9 hours of us usage with a standby of 22hrs-1 day+
I've been disappointed with the battery life on the X, getting on the lower end of 6 hours of usage when I get to 1% with standby of about 14-16 hours. This isn't bad but it isn't great as I do have longer than usual days with school and work and I travel often with long days on the go with really no access to charge.

I miss the battery life on my 7+ because it seems like it would be better at managing how I use my phone. I could wake up and leave my house around 7am, use it on a heavier than usual basis say on a Friday for work and school, then meet friends out at happy hour around 5:30p with about 60-70% remaining.

I know this message is tedious but could it be there are some faults in certain batteries? I don't use bluetooth, usually I'm on wifi, background app refresh is off, mail fetch is off, app updates are manual.

I'm thinking a trip to Apple is next :( but I don't like being that paranoid iPhone user always at the Genius Bar.

6 hours seems very little! Especially if you set it up as new.
