I've had 8 hours + with a trick I found.

I found when I left the charger on all night and took it off in the morning, the battery seems worse that morning and not accurate... If I take it off the charger for the night at 99%... In the morning it's still at 99%. I'll plug it in in the morning until it sits at 100% for about 5-10 minutes and take it off. Every time I've done that my battery has been 8 hours + and have gotten at least an hour on 100% alone.

This sounds crazy, but I tried your trick and I got 4.5 hour usage and 21 hour standby (10 hour was on airplane mode) with 57% remaining with 3G. I don't stay at 100% for an hour of usage

Usually I only get 7-7.5 hour usage max. Likely your trick works

Mine has been pretty bad..

Cool. Glad I helped.

I lost 11% battery in 6 hours on standby last night. 2am-8am and I went from 100% to 89%. Usually lose a bit more. This can't be right after looking at everyone else's numbers. Any suggestions?

What settings are you using? Any apps open or refreshing in the background?

Mine is pretty great, I'm a moderate user and never close apps I'm getting easily full day sometimes more. Last week I got close to 2 days was on 20% for like 4 hours with use of camera/ flashlight, and internet etc.

Background refresh is always off. BT is off unless using it. Location is on, but not frequent locations. Pretty well tuned basically without listing everything. Been on iOS 7 since beta 1, but noticed poor battery life since coming to the 5s. Mainly battery loss in standby is my concern.

My 5S is at 55-60% consistently, every night when I plug in (thats without charging).

When I had my 4S, I would usually give it a quick charge half way through the day and I would still be at around 20% every night.

I am thoroughly impressed by the battery life on this thing.

Have you tried resetting all settings?

Tried that trick too. I'm thinking I'm going to have to restore it as a new phone and see how that goes. I always used to do that but recently enjoyed having all my stuff loaded back on without the hassle of doing it myself.

Iphone 5s, best iphone battery to date

I'm pretty happy with my 5S's performance, seeing as I use my phone for all sorts of crap.

Havent received my 5s yet but is it better to run it all the way down then charge all the way up or run down as little as possible then charge for the best way to train the battery??

It's been great, and I did some tinkering yesterday, and it seemed to have helped further by going from 50% to 67% at around the same time in the afternoon. Not scientific, but it feels like it helped:

Currently at 67%:

Usage: 2hr, 42 mins
Standby 8 hrs, 32 mins

Read somewhere yesterday that it's not ideal to drain the battery. Best to keep it around 40%-80%. 100% is actually not good, nor is 1%. When it gets to around 50% is when you should charge it.

Well damn. I'm at 50% at work in the middle of the day. But I see what you mean.

iOS 7 on my 5S was fantastic. After moderately light use I would end my day with 60 to 70 percent battery life. With 7.0.2 and 7.0.3 battery life went straight to hell. I now end my day with 25 to 35 percent battery remaining.

Since I'm coming from an iPhone 4, my 5s's battery life is much better. I tested it for 2 days and these were the results -

Day 1 (All settings including Reduce Motion, Cellular Data, Keyboard sounds, Auto Brightness, etc were ON)

Usage - 8 hours 15 minutes
Standby - 1 day 1 hour

Usage includes playing songs, games (Asphalt Airborne), browsing the internet and chatting on BBM and whatsapp. With this usage, the battery went from 100% to 1%.

Day 2 (Auto brightness - ON, Reduce Motion - OFF for pretty much 90% of the day, Cellular Data - OFF for most of the day since I was at home most of the time, Keyboard sounds - OFF)

Usage - 9 hours 5 minutes
Standby - 1 day 4 hours

Usage pretty much the same as day 1. Battery went from 100% to 3%.

I've also noticed that the phone charges faster.

Ok my battery on my 5s drained 8 percent overnight , no activity. First time this happened since I got it. WTF!!!!!!

Mine tends to drain about 5% in that situation, and I think my battery is a goodun. I'm on 39% but will report back when it gets to 1%.

Seems to last much less in usage compared to my previous 5. I could record a 2.5h lecture for about 20% battery in notability.

My 5s seems to just burn through almost 40% of just 1h recording.

27% at 4.5 hour usage today. I don't know why but my 5 held up much better. Standby is better on the 5s though, just 2% overnight, while the 5 would be 5-8% on average.

/ edit. I timed writing this note. Drain is 1%/3.5min with 10% brightness and on wifi. Is that normal? Just charged it twice so far though but it is noticeable since I use the phone for everything. The 5 could last two days and this 5s I must charge every evening.
