Same here. I'm a light user and my phone barely lasts 4-5 hours a day with brief web browsing, texting, music etc.,. My iPhone 5 and 4S could easily get 7-8hrs with my usage. Spoke with tech support and T-Mobile is sending me a replacement next week. Fingers crossed!

Make sure you are getting brand new one. because i originally got the first one this monday, and then i found out it was refurbished one.
i was like, why am i getting used phone when i'm paying full retail price..
i talked with one of rep on the phone yesterday. and she agreed that i deserve the new phone. so i'm receiving my second one today.!

Most of the times is related to the carrier (or just a bad battery).

I posted a few days ago how my battery life doubled simply by switching to T-Mobile. I noticed it on a 4S, iPad, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Battery life doubled on all, especially the 4S and the Nexus devices.

That makes sense for me, since I can see battery life 2 hrs longer just by using my iPhone in another town.

It just amazes me how some people get over 7 hours of actual usage( full screen time).
I use my phone 50% of wifi and full bar lte.
Mainly for messaging,Facebook, few YouTube video clips.

And my setting are background refreshing completely off, few locations are on (camera, safari, maps, find iphone). Brightness is average 50%

Makes me thinking my phone has defective battery.

PS: my battery just dropped 3% while writing this thread.

You do know that usage is not necessarily the same as screen on time right? And that 7 hours of screen on time is pretty much impossible for any phone during normal usage.

On which planet ? Mars ?
On the earth an iPhone 5s could stream video for about 10 hrs and browse the net for more than 9 hrs .... And a screen on time of 7 hrs is quite common.
And there are phones better than that (Lumia 1520 could pass 12hrs and half in both activities).

I don't listen music on my iPhone (only when I'm running, but there is also gps tracking active there), and I can consistently get more than 7-8hrs of real usage on my iPhone, except when the network coverage is poor.

This is odd..

----------

I should clarify: I've barely used it today. I don't know what was running in the background, but I closed all the apps individually :p

Reporting isn't always on point I have seen my usage being more then my stand by time.

Strange how there's so many reports with so many different scenarios Yet the bottom line on most ( not all) is that their battery life is not as good as 7.0.
Battery life should equal 7.0 nothing new was added that is an energy drainer.
There shouldn't be a need to turn this off or disable features to get to the same battery life providing you are using your IPhone for the same things as before in the same location

I'm thinking of selling my 4s to get a 5 mainly for battery life. with mine I get 4-5 hrs of usage and it's not enough. would I see a gain in battery life by stepping up to the 5?

wow

wow, just wow about all of your usage time and standby. my best i guess was 4.5 or 5 hours of usage and 10 or 12 hours of stanby. im on ios7.1. how do yu guys get those massive screen time? are all of you on ios7.0.6? damn. or is it really a ios7.1 battery drain issues on 5s?

Just recently it started that when my phone is 100% charged and unplugged it goes down from 100-99% in just few minutes without doing much, this wasnt the case before, it would only go down 1% from 100-99% in about 20mins. But when i restart my phone it goes back to 100%, thats weird anyone else have this issue. Honestly this only after the 7.1 upgrade.

As a random recent measure, my 5s lost 80% battery life over three hours under rather intense tag-team gaming. I commonly use the phone for browsing and writing and some music and limited video from early morning and have the low battery warnings by early afternoon.

Video streaming for ten hours?

I don't know about gaming, since I use the iPad for that (gaming on a 4" device ?), but if you drain the whole battery by early afternoon your phone is probably defective.
I can easily reach 7 hrs of usage and 20+ hrs of standby, so I can usually go to sleep with the battery between 10 and 20%.

I streamed a video on WI FI for ONE hour and my phone lost 55% (90-35).
