Surprised that nobody's made a thread about this yet.
The M10 could be vey interesting. The M9 was a mediocre phone, with very little change from the M8, and thus sold badly. So HTC now need a chance to redeem the M line, and the M10 could be the perfect opportunity to bring HTC back to its former glory. Here are my general predictions based on the M9, A9 and X9, and on the general trends that OEMs are taking, and that HTC have taken in the past:

5.5-inch AMOLED 2560x1440 534ppi
Snapdragon 820
3180mAh
4GB RAM
32/64GB
Expandable up to 2TB.
NFC
Fingerprint scanner

General predictions/suggestions:
Same overall design as the A9. Yes, it is iPhone like, but its still a good design. Shrink the bezels though, that was a strong disadvantage of the A9.
Removal of the front logo. Please! It's an eyesore, it serves no purpose, and it takes up bezel space. They should be banned.
Capacitive buttons. Looking at the A9 and X9, I see them returning. Capacitive home button on the fingerprint scanner, with back and recent apps alongside it.
Redesigned speakers. Perhaps squeeze thinner ones on the top and bottom edges. Similar to the One X9, but hopefully more minimalistic and less ugly.
Same camera as A9 and X9. It's not the best, but it's definitely an improvement.

I am very optimistic on the One M10. I was a HUGE fan of the One M8 converted to GPE, that was one of my all time fav Android phones. And then the classic EVO 4G I also had, was for it's day the first phone to really open up peoples eyes to Android.

The One M9 was a disappointment, but I am hopeful they can swing for the fences and hit a home run with the M10. Spec's alone for flagships in 2016 are much batter than 2015. Now with SD820 + 4GB RAM being the standard, and with the next gen version of Sense based off Marshmallow, it should be a blazing fast phone.

I just hope they put a good size battery in it, at least 2900mAh, and make the back flat like the Galaxy phones and iPhone, I hate curved backs, they rock like a canoe on the table.

I like stock Android best, but Sense is second place for me, I always liked Sense UI, they've done a great job with it. And it's always so damn smooth and fast.

Above renders from a year ago, what people thought the One M9 would look like, here's hoping the M10 follows

Just a random thought after seeing those renders. If they insist on the logo on the front, they could just make the htc logo the finger print scanner (not a physical button though) or atleast make it the capacitive home button.

I really loved the M7 but have been disappointed with every HTC One release since then. HTC is probably too far gone to realistically make a comeback at this point. I would give them another shot if they absolutely nail the M10. Would love to see a top of class camera for once. I'll likely use my Jump on Demand (from an iPhone 6S) in early 2016 and it will be between the One M10, Galaxy S7, or LG G5. May the best phone win!

I've always said they should do this. Still think they should.

Bad news guys :(

I researched all news articles everywhere on the One M10, and I know it's early, but pretty much all of them said the same thing, regarding the design.

With the success of the budget friendly A9, HTC doesn't want to rock the boat, so they will release an A9 style phone, but with high end flagship specs as the One M10. Basically the One M10 will look 90% like the A9, because that new style is selling.

HTC A9 design makes me wanna puke, it's just such a iPhone 6S wannabe, it's sad and pathetic looking for them to copy Apple's design.

And if the One M10 looks like the A9, then HTC is dead. Because the A9 is based off the soon to be two year old iPhone 6, and with the brand new iPhone 7 due this Summer, with a brand new design, so any Android phone with the older iPhone 6 design, will look super dated as soon as the iPhone 7 is released. Which is why Android manufacturers need to ***** stop copying, and make some truly original.

HTC made their iphone clone to stop the $$$ hemorrhaging from their bottom line.
But hey...if i could get Android running on my iphone 6s+....sign me up!
Same camera, battery life, fingerprint scanner....love the physical mute button and feel of the rounded edges of the aluminum.

Is the A9 camera good? After I saw the spec list and price I passed on it.

Every other flagship has improved their camera so it's impossible to see how they could put anything but a very good camera in the M10 to compete.

Finger scanner as well must be a dead cert. I'd guess they'd maybe go with 3gb RAM since they've been good on performance around the OS.

Looks like they're playing catch-up but maybe, just maybe, there's something new in there.

As long as they minimalise the bezels, something they could do by removing the damned front logo, I'm OK with them keeping the A9 design. Why? Because it's a good design. Sure, it lacks originality, but that's not going to affect user experience at all, and so is therefore not our problem.
What is annoying is when they deny the iPhone having any influence on the design, and that in some way 'Apple copied' them.

If the One M10 copies the A9 style, then I am done with HTC for good. It is very upsetting to see HTC blatantly copy Apple's iPhone with the A9, it's not even funny. The strange thing is, HTC can and does design very good looking phones, the One M7 and One M8 were BEAUTIFUL and original looking for their time. HTC doesn't need to copy Apple, it just screams desperate by them.

Plus with the all new design coming this Summer with the iPhone 7, any phone that still copies the old iPhone 6 design will be very outdated looking immediately, once the iPhone 7 drops. So just don't do it all, make you own original good looking phone.

Ans I am not knocking Apple's design, I do think the iPhone 6 is a very good looking phone, with the rounded edges etc... but that's Apple's style, don't copy it, makes you look cheap to make an Android phone look like an Apple phone, make something unique.

Lets see what they come up with on the M10. It almost feels like HTC has been riding the success of the M7 and not really come up anything new since then. Their sales and status in the smartphone race directly reflects this. Hopefully they can come with something new on the M10 and get back in the race.

Yes, I do agree the M7 was a great looking device, and the One M8 just perfected that, and with the GPE version of the M8, it goes down in history as one of the best Android devices ever IMO. But they dropped the ball with the M9 keeping the same design theme for almost three generations in a row, with lackluster performance upgrades, and now this A9 / iPhone 6 clone, is pretty shocking to me to see HTC go the copycat route. I am not trusting HTC's path right now, and will not be surprised to see the One M10 be a iPhone 6S looking clone.

I just wish they would make the M10 look like those renders above, have some confidence HTC and do it, don't be scared and just copy Apple to be safe, which will bite you in the butt.

I still don't see the problem. If the iPhone design is good, why shouldn't the same apply to the A9 and potential M10? I've said this a number of times, we shouldn't care about copying, because it does nothing to limit the phone experience.

agreed! I would love love to have Marshmallow on my 6s+. Awesome engineered phone. If HTC releases a 5.5 inch version of the A9...I might have to get one.

I understand your point, but when it's almost a carbon copy, look alike, I tend to think it sort of sad and pathetic for HTC to do that, when they don't need to.

It's like the Corvette engineers from GM like Ferrari's design, and the Corvette artists do admit they borrow certain cues and styling elements from Ferrari, while also keeping the previous generations of Corvette styling in mind too. But GM would never try a 95% carbon copy duplicate of a Ferrari, even though they probably could design wise, ( Not talking performance or quality, just styling ) GM would never make the 2016 Corvette C7 Z06 look 95% like the 2016 Ferrari 488, that would be ridiculous and GM would be laughed at across the automotive world for copying the car so blatantly. GM makes a pretty good original looking Vette already in the new C7 Z06, no need to to copy them.

Same with HTC, stop the carbon copy near identical lookalike iPhone clone. Plus with the brand new redesigned iPhone 7 due this Summer, with an entirely new look and style, Android phones that copied the iPhone 6 will look super outdated as soon as the i7 is released.

People are still hoping for HTC to pull a rabbit out of their hat?

I'm not going to bother. If they release something amazing, then great. Color me surprised. If that happens, then I'll think about them and get excited. And if they don't release anything amazing, then I wouldn't have wasted my time hoping. Again.

My sentiments exactly.

This is a battle HTC is simply not going to win. The pinnacle of their devices was, IMO, the HTC M7, and that was far from a perfect decive (oh, that Ultrapixel camera). If was a unique design, offered exceptional sound, and utilized a skin that had a light touch and offered some useful features (Zoe's and Blinkfeed) without being heavy handed. Since then, the industry has blown past them and pulled far away.

What are they possibly going to offer that will entice buyers away from alternatives from Samsung, Google, Moto, LG or any of the low cost offerings? The Nexus 6P has set the bar and I see no way that HTC will beat that.

I looked at HTC as being of the few and only manufacturers that still made a high end flagship spec'd smartphone in the small form factor 5" size.

Today to get a high end super-smartphone, most are phablets, like the Note 5, Nexus 6P, LG G4, LG V10, Moto Pure, etc... all being like 5.5" to 5.7".

Which company makes a 5" phone, with those same phablet specs and high quality ? No one, except maybe HTC. Even Scamsuck is going larger to 5.2" now with the S7.

But they don't. The M9 is taller than the S6 with rumors pointing to the S7 having the same dimensions, just including a larger display. And as much as I personally am not a Samsung fan, why would I choose and HTC device instead? Samsung frankly offers much better hardware and Sense is not the market leader in software skins that it once was. All reviews of the A9 that I read were not impressed either so it's not like that device is some precedent of HTC's future offerings.

HTC's mobile division died a while ago--only promising thing coming from them is the Vive VR hardware. I think hoping that they turn it around on the 3rd or 4th try is just being naive.

I saw an HTC One A9 at the store today, and I was actually pretty surprised as to how un-iPhone-like it was looking at it first-hand when compared to looking at it in the photos. It's actually more like the HTC One M9 than I thought. After looking at it, something tells me that it wasn't intended to look like the iPhone, it just ended up looking similar on first glance. In all fairness, if they gave the M9 an all-glass front, slimmer back, a fingerprint scanner, moved the speakers and remodelled the camera, all welcome changes, you would end up with the A9. It even has the same feeling in the metal, and identical edges, ignoring the speakers.
If the M10 ended up like that, but with smaller bezels (front logo), a return of the front-facing speakers, and maybe a bigger screen, I would welcome it.
