Why plastic (thinking wireless charging is back?) And what SOC bump are you expecting? 823? Not seeing much exciting in there....830 would be crazy, but don't think that will be announced until early next year.

I'm just taking a stab at predictions. I have no idea really.

My logic is they'll try and cut costs thus offering a lower price for the Nexus and they'll want to keep the Nexus from competing too much with the 10 so offering less premium materials is the way to do that. Also bringing wireless charging back to the fray.

The SOC will be a minor bump, so 823, and the two models will be a small one and a bigger one with little differentiation. The bigger will probably have a bigger battery, and perhaps a better camera. And maybe the bigger one will be "force touch" capable since it won't be ready at launch.

These are my predictions. I'm probably wrong, but hey, it's part of the fun.

Maybe he's thinking plastic for the "new" 5x (lower end) model in the fall. HTC makes nice metal phones, but plastic might be used as a cost cutting measure. Like on the nexus 9 tablet made by HTC.

I'm making my predictions based on my interpretations of past Nexusus (Nexi? Nexusee?) not including 2015. The two LG versions actually.

Nexus 4 was an Optimus but with not as good of a camera, worse (but still good) build quality, and a few other minor shorts. The Nexus 5 was an LG G2, with a worse camera, less features; external storage, removable battery, etc.

Motorola Nexus 6, was huge, thus only giving folks that want a smaller phone the Moto X as an option. No build quality features like the Moto X, and a few other shorts. I'm not sure about the 5X, it seems to stand alone, but the Nexus 6P may be related to a P8, but I'm not sure on that either. Which as far as I know they're basically the same phone just with different processors and design. So I don't know if 2015 follows the same trend.

I could be way off, HTC could just make a metal big Nexus and a plastic small one.

The Project Fi app/voice sim is just not playing great with the HTC 10 no matter what I have tried. Sideloaded a bunch of APKs from Google Connectivity Services to the stock dialer, and no luck. And I refuse to go back to any of the carriers directly. So I am waiting for my Project Fi data sim to use in this phone.

If it works, I just might have to keep two phones! I could do all my calling/texting through hangouts over data and my project fi/google voice phone number (tied to my Nexus) on the HTC 10. Best thing is, it won't really cost much more since you only pay for the data you use. Makes for no sim swapping needed. This is not exactly a brilliant investment decision, but fun to play around with.

In the meantime, I am here without a sim, and jeesh, the standby on this phone is great. Shows me the system is very clean and optimized out of the box. It is not on airplane, still on wifi, no sim inserted. Couple hours plus of screen on time. 5 days now with 25% left. So another 2 days? A week of standby. Pretty nice.

just a thought that I'm sure youve thought of already

how about prepaid? att gophone is pretty darn painless, $30 walmart tmobile 5gig 100min prepaid plan is pretty hard to beat too, even verizons prepaid is competitive now

if you prefer pay for what you use model, ting does that and they offer service on both tmobile or sprint now

too bad the htc10 doesnt work on sprint because ringplus is an amazing value for a secondary phone (if they continue to exist :p)

Oh I thought about it. Fi, even with two sims (one for voice/data and one just for data) will still likely cost me less than than $30 a month. Right now I am about $25. I rarely go over 200-300 MB per month. Which is why I love Fi. Any other plans are just throwing money down the drain (but not much, that is a good deal with the walmart plan).

Ting looks like it would be about the same, but data is a bit more expensive. If I just stick with the HTC 10, Ting would make sense. Thanks for the suggestion!

yep, you are the ideal fi user!

The data Sims for no extra fees is an amazing feature of Fi, nobody else does that

Like I said a few days ago, the HTC 10 is damn near impossible to find in stock at local T-Mobile stores int he Chicago western burbs. I went to two stores, and they said they stopped promoting HTC phones, won't be stock any new phones from them, and called 9 other stores, and every one of them said nope, don't have that phone in stock, and won't.

I talked to a few TMO stores as well. I got the same replies as you did. They said based on previous sales history they would not carry HTC phones. If they did get a shipment in and sold out...they did not know when they next shipment would arrive. The 10 is a great phone and I think they are dropping the ball on this....

This is not a good sign for HTC. It seems that T-Mobile is not promoting this phone at all. Just sort of maybe have in stock or don't, and if they do, I suppose they'd let you know, but only if you ask about it, and might sell it to you. And no displays in any stores I checked, it's all Samsung and LG displays all over the stores.

Why buy it locally? Just buy it on the website (HTC or Tmobile). These stores don't carry Nexus any more either. Obviously their only interests are the mass marketed flagships or really cheap PAYG phones.

My guess to is that Samsung and LG have reps that go into the stores to promote their products. I wonder if HTC has that kind of infrastructure in place to do that?

HTC probably doesn't have the reach they used to. It's a little sad. And doesn't give the HTC 10 the fighting chance it needs. No real way to get any hands on time.

Anyone know if Best Buy has 'em on display?

So the U.S. market won't even know the HTC 10 exists, carriers aren't pushing it all, and Best Buy not promoting it, and no one in the U.S. buys phones unlocked for full price online, well yes some do, but 99% of the Joe Blow public doesn't.

That's too bad for HTC, they have a solid phone out, and no one will know about it. While the LG G5 is promoted like a a huge party in every carrier store, and advertised everywhere.

HTC can barely keep up with demand from their own site. It will be in the stores soon. I think they just massively underestimated demand with the launch. Probably running a tight ship and don't want too much stock sitting.
