Because I swore I wouldn't go phone crazy this year and now here I go on my 5th

Dropping the on screen navigation buttons will help. I posted about that a month or so ago about an app in the store, GMD something or other. Without that or some other assist, just too much wasted space on the device screen versus body.

Even so I never took the plunge.

Note 5 is inevitable, I have enough to hold me over, maybe. :)

Yep. Note 5 & iPhone 7+ :)

Lol. Yeah I know :D:p
I am looking forward to the Note 5 and the next iPhone too. Not sure about anything else unless one of the smaller companies releases something that impresses. Held the M9 at Verizon the other day. It seems like a nice handset but the camera and overheating rumors have kept me away.

HTC posted the worst April ever. Most blame is on lack of m9 interests.

As predicted. This is going to hurt HTC big this year

Wow. If April was bad I can't see it being any better in the coming months.

Right phone, wrong time.

Well mine arrives tomorrow....

Will then decide after a week if I'll keep the M9 or the Edge.

Other than aesthetics and camera, the Edge has for me been much of a disappointment in the areas that affect me daily (battery and ram/app refreshing).

Isn't the battery worse on the M9? Or so I read? Can't remember. I know the camera is definitely not on par.

Software-wise, Sense may be lighter, but I find the skin quite unappealing from a design perspective. Dare I say, even outright ugly.

I have read a lot about overheating and throttling due to the heat issues.
They can issue a software update for the camera but not the overheating/throttling issues.

It depends ... The S6 hasn't proven to be good for me battery wise, despite its test results and the good results others are getting.

The M9's standard Qualcomm radio and 1080p screen may make a big difference for me. It honestly don't think it will be worse than 2-2.5 SOT

Where are you reading about overheating and throttling?

Never mind found one thread in XDA.

Still ill be able to see myself tomorrow if I have any trouble. I don't game on mobiles so hardly push the CPU/GPU ...

Where are you reading about overheating and throttling? Can't find much in the XDA forum from users?

I don't have the thread in front of me at work. But it was all over XDA and the initial reviewer sites. There were benchmarks results showing decent results...then it kept getting slower with each new benchmark due to heating and throttling. There were thermal images of the M9 displaying a lot of heat compared to other handsets.

Weren't those thermal issues on pre-release software and they subsequently posted a follow up showing that the release software didn't have the same result - it was pretty much on par with other handsets.

To be honest I've given up believing anything written in news posts and now only really trust my own end experience as it's often very different. No one was talking about the aggressive ram app refresh on the S6 & S6 Edge until mine and another thread were picked up by news blogs and all of a sudden it became a recognised issue... These news reports not once asked either of us thread starters for clarification or information and yet it was posted in tech news sites everywhere. So I am cynical of their 'research' procedures when they churn out news reports. Even the 'Samsung official comment' was anything but - so given that in mind it wouldn't surprise me if most of the tech news things we read about devices are based on nothing more than hearsay and conjecture or on one persons experience alone and made out to represent everyone's, much like our app refresh issue thread where only a dozen or so people had posted and yet the reports made out like it was 'everyone' without any indication of scale.

So I am going to give the M9 a crack of the whip, and well it could be an epic fail, but at least I'll know for sure and have another reason to not settle and wait for the next big release again :)

Totally agree with you! The one thing that came out of the M9 and the heating issues......was the prerelease software was making the device extremely hot. Some of the reviewers mentioned this. That their HTC contacts advised them there was an update coming to fix it. When the update came out it fixed the heating issues. But it led to the throttling issues that were reported later.
But as you say first hand experience is always the best!
I look forward to reading your thoughts! :)

From what I've read, battery seems to be pretty good. You may be thinking compared to the One M8, in that sense i have heard it was slightly worse even with the larger battery.

As for the heating and throttling, the heating part isn't something to worry about, as that was fixed. Unfortunately from what I've heard it was fixed by more agressive throttling.

Anyway, good luck MRU with the M9, it seems like a great handset, it's just too similar to my M8 to consider right now.

It arrived. Its like the M8 ;) ive set it up and gave my google keyboard and nova setup up and running. Hard to guage battery first few hours as I'm only installing stuff. But mostly feels nice device. Auto brightness seems low compared to off auto.

Too many concessions for you with the Edge to even consider it. It does not have to be the M9 versus the Edge either, there are other alternatives.

That's my response as well. Why keep a device if you're not happy with it? Might as well get something that fits your needs. :)

How do you like Sense 7 so far?
Have tested the camera?

So far sense 7 its very good, themes are easy to apply and give you more control than on Touchwiz but I still prefer NOVA if in going to reskin my home screen.

Will take some camera samples later.
