If I remember correctly the prior ones at launch were $599, the rumored price for the M9 is $749. Ouch!

That does seem kinda high. Hope thats not true or it is for the rumored m9 Plus pictured earlier in the thread here.

M8 went on sale for 750€ last year, so I believe the price for the M9 will be the same.

HTC once recycled the Evo DNA for too long and it cost them.

I don't believe in change for the sake of, but HTC is getting boring and formulaic which has hurt them in the past.

I hope these leaks are wrong and more is being brought to the design table.

Yes.... It looks like it might be close to the M8 and that phone won design awards. Add more speed to a phone that has the fastest android UI. Add a better camera and better design tweaks. Winner in my book. How thin does a phone need to be? My 6+ is already too thin. It's has a protruding camera that makes the phone rock when on a flat surface. I want to see what Sense 7 has to offer what they did with the camera.

I always laugh at this. Do you rock your phone back and forth when its on a table? Why does this even matter. I would like to know.

did you read the context of the post? Does my post upset the balance of your Apple world somehow? Did you not know the camera position on the IP6 makes the phone rock? Surely you have heard of this before.

Would you be this understanding if android manufacturers had camera bumps and the iPhone 6 didn't?

Isn't that the one thing nearly everyone has complained about? Nearly everyone has criticized the 6 for it's protruding "un-apple like" camera bump, I thought.

HTC is getting old now. The metal body advantage is gone. The dual speaker advantage is over. HTC Sense doesn't do unique stuff as much. They fail to implement key software features other devices may have like do not disturb mode. I think it could be a tough year for HTC though.

Yes I could live without it. What I am saying is it doesn't matter that it rocks back and forth. Who rocks their phone back and forth on a flat surface.?

The lens getting damaged is a concern.

Honestly, I've had occasion to use my phone while it's placed on a table. Sometimes I don't want to pick it up. The rocking back and forth occurs then when you're a bit, and I can see why that might be a little annoying.

On my current OnePlus, I double tap to wake while the device is sitting on the table quite frequently. If it rocked, that'd be a bit annoying, too.

Anyway, I agree the bulge isn't a big deal ultimately in any phone. Though I wouldn't have minded if Apple kept it flat and just gave us a bigger battery. That wouldn't hurt either.

I don't rock my 6+ on a flat surface on purpose. But if I am going to text while it is on a flat surface it is very annoying. Thankfully it is much easier to just pick it up and text.

The M8 was one of the best phones last year.

I dont believe in these people that say every year needs a massive update just to have an update.

Update the processor, finally get a good camera in there, and the M9 will again be one of the best phones of the year after the M8.

It matters when it's about the iPhone, otherwise rocking doesn't matter ;) .
But seriously, whenever I take my phone out of the leather case and use it naked (the phone...) on the table, the minimal rocking that happens has no effect whatsoever on it, it doesn't even change the built in level. It's a non-issue that people like bringing up anyway for whatever reason. Just like removable batteries only mattered until they weren't removable in some phones.

removable batteries still have advantages imo. it is borderline impossible to replace a failing battery in a htc one

i usually keep my phones to the point where battery degradation becomes a factor

Are you sure because look at the dock bottom picture, there's a power button on right which screams of mockup.

Again March 1st is D-DAY :) soon we will know for sure.

I noticed that forth on-screen button as well. It could definitely be a mock-up. Maybe it'll be a new software feature (customizable software buttons ala LG or OnePlus?). Who knows.

I'm secretly hoping these are controlled leaks by HTC to throw people off from the real reveal:

UGH! Its official, guys! WTF were they thinking with that two toned!

Video leaked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIRlEwa2ckA

Woah. If this is legit... well, there you go.

And I agree -- I don't know why the "gold" version is silver on the back. Da heck?

Even more videos leaked here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...-leak-courtesy-upleaks-video-teased-tomorrow/

If they're real, check them out before they're pulled down!

@MRU, looks like themes is a big part of Sense 7, which may explain the 4th on-screen button. Again, if all these leaks are legit!

Yeah weird isn't it. I mean why on earth would you need a power button on your onscreen buttons ??

Strange colour choices as well .. Mmm perplexing.

I hope that camera is a stunner to compensate for the evolution rather than revolution of the M8 to M9.

Now I really don't know what my next phone will be.

----------

Edit....
A thought ..... Perhaps..

Maybe there isn't a power button on the device.

With the swipe to wake device / unlock feature of the M8 - perhaps HTC have decided that they can do away with the power button completely by having an on screen button.

And yep must agree that the mock renders were indeed far more tempting.

Maybe they are copying Apple's approach to using the same design for two years and improving other stuff. Just because a phone is a year old doesnt mean the design is now bad, it is still a nice phone and has the metal body people obsess about.

Agreed, it's just when you see a mock up of the possibilities that look sooooo good - it just naturally feels a little underwhelming then.
