Agreed, it's just when you see a mock up of the possibilities that look sooooo good - it just naturally feels a little underwhelming then.

I feel you. The mock up with the camera in the center with a solid black? Oh, that was the best. I am still hoping for the HTC One M9+ with the upgraded specs like the finger print scanner, more processing power, a QHD screen, etc. I am heavily leaning towards the Note 5 as my next upgrade, but I feel like I am ready to leave Samsung if they don't improve the TW experience, improve software update timing, etc. The major things I like about Samsung are: S-Pen, Touchwiz colors (yet I don't like the lag), multi-window, ultra power saving mode and the AMOLED displays.

Sense is still appealing to me software wise at least.... Even if design wise I'm underwhelmed. Seriously two tone ?

Vids on the Verge: I like the Sense widget that displays different sets of apps depending on you location. Provided that it's customizable...

And the two tone thing...not very cool :/ May look better in reality yeah but I kinda doubt it.

Maybe they are copying Apple's approach to using the same design for two years and improving other stuff. Just because a phone is a year old doesnt mean the design is now bad, it is still a nice phone and has the metal body people obsess about.

Maybe. But this won't help them when the s6 will be redesigned (with metal!). The potential HTC customer could be lured away by Samsung's new looking phone.

I must be the only one who thinks the two tone colour looks great

It's new and modern IMO.

Themes is a great idea. Well done HTC.

Looks like the fourth button is a power button, but the device has to have a power button either or how in the world would you turn the device on for the first time? :D:D:D

The device looks promising, but I'm still worried about the non removable battery. I keep my devices for two years and maybe more if they are still fast enough. Not being able to replace the battery is a problem if the battery becomes worse with time.

Overall I like the new phone. Finally a decent camera! Although I'm worried if it turns out true that the sensor is made by... Toshiba!!!-:eek:

Also, price will be too high to buy it on release date. I'm not paying 749€ for a phone.

Is Toshiba behind the cameras of the Nokia lumias? I thought they were but I'm not positive.

NEWS FLASH:

Official tweet from HTC says we "have no idea what's coming"

http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-official-says-we-have-no-idea-whats-coming-on-March-1-at-MWC_id66372

Could those m9 leaked picture and videos be an elaborate hoax or controlled leak to throw us off? Or could the tweet be merely referring to the "plus" version? Could the plus version be the new design while the regular m9 be the old design? I don't know!

I still believe evleaks' original leaks which more closely resemble the renders we're all drooling over.

There's hope! March 1, come on.

haha, the super nice renderings turned out to be fake, oh well..

I don't think that HTC needs to worry, Android has a global share of +85 percent. Maybe it'll get even better with their new phone.,

Not really a fan of on-screen buttons and especially when there's a vacant strip like that below them. The bottom 20% looks like a stack of random bits fudged together.

This^. Reusing last year's hardware design isn't terrible, it's just that the earlier leaked renders were simply stunning.

My problem is that I'm not a big fan of last year's design, specifically the front. The huge chin (and subsequent reach from the bottom to any functionality) is problematic and I don't like the speakers just screaming out 'here I am!!' The design made the handset feel excessively long. Maybe I'm just spoiled but the all glass monolithic style front of the iPhone with the waterfall style glass edges is the best out there presently and the leaked renders showed a similar style--guess I was just hoping for that.

All that being said, if I was in the market for a new Android phone, this would still probably be my first choice.

Ultimately, those HTC leaks seem more and more legit.

But I'm also leaning on the hope that Evleaks' original leaked photo (of which those beautiful renderings are based off of) still have some legitimacy. Isn't Evleaks famous for being reliable? I know he isn't perfect -- in this game, who is? -- but he's got a great track record.

Plus, HTC themselves claim "we have NO CLUE what is coming" referring to the latest leaks. Now, maybe they're just playing to the idea of the M9 Plus, or a tablet, or that rumored smartwatch of theirs. Or maybe they're really trolling us? Maybe those are controlled leaks so that when the real M9 is revealed, it'll blow everyone away? Or maybe, as I said before, there are two M9s. And the redesigned one is the M9 Plus.

Who knows.

But for now, probably best to just fully expect an M8 design-based M9.

I think my biggest pet peeve isn't cam as we know they can offer good ones with the Amaze and One X. With HTC, I don't like the sudden battery drops. I don't know how good the M8 battery life is which I read is quite excellent, but from my experience, the M7 would drop from 20% to 10% to 4% fast. And its batt life was average to begin with. For some reason, the AT&T always got the worst batt for the Ones. This is why I like Apple iPhones that burn slowly under 20%. It will slowly drain like its first 10%.

The M9 design is obviously a rehash which I am fine with. But the iFixit scores still won't increase by much. Hard to break open. Before HTC offered unibody metal designs with removable back covers. At least iPhones since the 4 have been much easier to open and manually replace a battery yourself. With HTC, you are stuck with a degraded battery and horrendous resale value. Phones like OnePlus One, Meizu MX4, Sharp Aquos Crystal, Xiaomi Mi 4, and Moto G all feature a nonremovable battery but a removable cover. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to unscrew them. With One, you need the jaws of life to pry open the phone. Fashionista phones but less practical and resale for the longer run.

Totally agree.

If these new leaks are the real deal, and it's the same phone three years straight, HTC is doomed :( Only Apple can do two years of the same exact phone design and get away with killer sales.

HTC can not afford to keep the same style for three years straight. I mean the M7 and M8 were already similar design, the M9 now being the third year of the same thing yet again.

I really wanted this;

HTC Butterfly series tends to be regarded less but actually have specs to match or even surpass the One series.

Butterfly S has an expandable slot, slightly higher clocked SD600, and much larger battery than M7.

Butterfly 2 is water-resistant which wasn't the case with the M8.

Too bad HTC only markets it into certain markets. Spec for spec, HTC Butterflies are just as good as the Ones.

Yea I've heard that about the Butterfly's. I've never seen one in person, If I'm not mistaken it is not available in the US with a warranty. Importing is the only way to get one

We all wanted this ..... Did HTC listen ? That's the question that will soon be answered without a shadow of doubt or trace of hope left.
