You should replace your One X with the SIII in a few weeks. HTC has wasted a great screen by combining it with terrible multitasking and, for now, poor wi-fi performance. Plus Sense is an ugly UI IMO. TouchWiz on the SIII looks nicer.

Yea that is my plan. I'm going to return this phone, go back to my iPhone 4, and play around with the SGIII in the store. Ill either upgrade to that or just hold out for the iPhone 5

Right...what am I missing? First off, this issue is widely known now on the US variant of the One X. There are multiple threads on it at xda. HTC has acknowledged this "aggressive" app killing and just said its working as intended. Secondly, I am unable to unlock the bootliader on this phone to install a vanilla ICS. AT&T has it locked down with version 1.85, which is what all new One X's are running. As of today I know of no workaround.

This is a tweak by HTC, not how ICS should be handling opened apps. When you go back into an app it should pop you right back to where you were in the app. Not refresh or reload. Slacker radio and Pandora just shuts down after like 5 mins if you have more than 4 apps open on thus phone and its playing in the background. That's a fail in my book. What's enjoyable about opening up the browser and every time it reloads the pages cache. Then if you are say in a forum im,you have to refresh the page again to get updated posts. This happens when you switch browser tabs too. Or say you're in Tapatalk viewing posts. You switch to another app to do whatever. When you switch back to Tapatalk it reloads the appto its main screen. Its extremely annoying.

My mistake. I just went and played with one for longer and it does reload after a few minutes. However, I was on Phonedog which has tons of text, graphics and nonsense but it reloaded in literally a couple seconds. A page like Yahoo reloaded instantly. So what's the problem? you are going to get rid of a great phone because it takes a second to reload a page? That's silly but it's your money.

As I mentioned before its not just the browser page reloading the last cache (which is not truly reloading the page). It also restarts apps. That means you switch back to an all and you lose your spot inside the app. Apps like Slacker radio and Pandora also shut down after a few minutes if they are playing in the background. Simply out, its a horrendous attempt at multitasking. I have no idea why HTC did this. the phone is really nice but that is just annoying.

Yea, that would be annoying. Rooting and flashing a customROM would solve the issue, why not do that? I saw several fixes for this issue on xda.

I already said why I can't do this. AT&T sells the new HTC One X's with version 1.85, and you can't unlock the boot loader.

What are you trying to sync exactly? I have a Razr Maxx and it works flawlessly with my iMac. Then again, it has Motocast, so everything syncs automatically if I want so I don't even think about it.

I might use something like markspace or syncmate. Basically I want a one stop sync for music, pix and contacts.

Hmmm, not sure then. Samsung has Kies and Motorola has Motocast, not sure about HTC. Motocast is awesome though. I can see everything on my computer within seconds of launching it. Look at pics, watch movies, play music, open files etc..I can even have pics and videos I shoot on my phone upload straight o my iMac. Love it.

The One X with stock ICS would make me think about switching like the Galaxy Nexus did, but Sense is a monster dealbreaker for me.

I had the One X and liked it but in the end I returned it and got the Galaxy S3 instead. Glad I did. I am loving the S3.
I do find the S3 to be faster than the One X. I was surprised to still see a slight lag with the One X quad core. There's none with the G3. Even flash video's are no match for the S3.

I have a One X and sync everything with Google. Contacts, music, and picasa for pictures. Then everything is fully accessible from any computer or device that has internet access. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion. Most of my music is in iTunes, although since it is all DRM free i suppose i could easily copy it over to the cloud via Google. Then its just maintaining it duplicate free etc because iTunes also syncs with all of iPhones and iPads. Picasa is definitely another thought.

Thanks HTC has a Mac Version of their Sync Manager on the way apparently.

Would you change your iPhone 4S for this HTC One X?

I did a straight trade. 1 for 1. 4S for One X. I love the screen on this device. I rooted and unlocked the bootloader and loaded CleanROM Lite on it basically removed Rogers Bloat. I haven't had it long enough for me to judge it, but I'm enjoying it so far. I can say that Android does take some time to learn, but it's not a hard process. I may go back to iOS, but I have an iPad and an iMac, so I get my Apple fix using those devices.

Thanks for the reply... I was thinking to trade mine but I'm not 100% sure that I'm going to like Android again. I'm waiting for the iPhone 5 and see what Apple is gonna give us... if it's not good I might concider the Galaxy S3

My iPhone 4 audio out stopped working (no audio out from speaker and from earpiece). Since I have no warranty, my best option was to get a new phone. I didn't want to use my upgrade because I am waiting for the next iPhone, so I used my Mom's upgrade (she rarely uses her flip phone, she doesn't care). Decided to try out a different phone and picked up the One X. I'm honestly liking Android a lot since there is a lot to like about it, but at the same time I am missing iOS (iMessages in particular). Regardless, I am going to stick with Android until the new iPhone is announced, but I am wonder if I should return my One X for the S3 or not? I actually like the size of the One X and the build, the display is superb, and it feels fast enough for me (I rarely game, but I do use netflix and youtube a lot). I also don't hate Sense UI, looks nice to me.
What do you think, keep my AT&T HTC One X or exchange it for the S3?

I have the iPhone 4 and used my HUP for a One X from rogers (same as the AT&T version). The multi-tasking is worse than an iPhone. No joke. HTC is going over the top with making sure no one complains about sense being a memory hog by killing other apps to make it feel smooth. Truth is, sense is still a resource hog.

Even my brother's 7 month old SGS2 smoked the One X when we compared. The browser on iPhone 4 and SGS2 was noticeably better than One X. These are 2010 and 2011 phones beating a 2012 phone...

Returning it and would rather buy a S3.

Why are you using a stock browser on Android? The reason people get Android is for options, and you have multiple excellent options for browsers. (And you also have the option to drastically improve multitasking.)

Yes, i did use my options. I tried chrome and dolphin too. Same results. I prefer chrome though and it is not really about choices if HTC simply fails in their stock performance.

And no i am not going to hack the phone to "improve" multi tasking. It should work out of the box. Maybe it seems shocking to you but most of my android devices were used stock. I did some flashing etc on my old captivate and the SGS2 but i never saw much point and preferred stock anyway. Besides it is not that "hard" as people make it out to be.

The only hacking on my brother's SGS2 is removal of bloat. I removed the bloat on HTC as well but it failed to keep up.

Besides, opening up an HTC is more tedious than a samsung.

If you honestly picked Safari over Chrome Beta or Dolphin HD, then there is no hoping arguing with your Apple-washed brain.

S3 is a beast. Best phone I have ever owned. I can not see any pixels, even holding it 4 inches from my eyes, in fact it looks just like the iP4s screen interms of clarity. Pictures are amazingly clear and like 20 picture burst mode with best photo auto-selection, facial recognition of people in the photo and when you want to take a picture, it's instantaneous. Having a sd card slot for 64gb of additional storage and a removable battery are nice as well.

Once the source is up HTC One XL is released it will move right next to the S3 in rankings:

1a. Samsung Galaxy S3
1b. HTC One XL
