I returned my one x and picked up the GSM galaxy nexus from the Google store. Much happier with it and for 400 bucks unlocked it's not a bad deal. Now just need to try to decide if I will keep my iPhone or just go back to android totally. Tough choices here.

The Nexus? You should have waited until the SIII (if you live in North America) is released in June.

I hate touch wiz and I am just kinda done with android phones that are not vanilla. I have had bad experiences with the sg2, moto photon and HTC one x. Only reason I keep going back to android is I love changing roms to freshen things up. Only reason I like iPhone is I can always depend on it.

weak wifi and 3G?

Any HTC ONE X or S owners experiencing a weak wifi signal?

I often work on a deck near the water at our cottage, maybe 40 feet from my Apple router.

iPad, MacBook Air and iPhone all work flawlessly, each shows minimum 3 bars signal strength, sometimes full strength.

With the HTC ONE I'm showing no bars, the signal is there, but spotty at best and when it jumps to one or two bars it's super slow.

I figured it must be the phone so I exchanged it, still no go, I exchanged again, no better so I returned it. Reading on the Android forums I figured it could be needing a software update ... I waited a bit and instead of going back to my Carrier I thought I'd buy a ONE S online hoping for I dunno ... a better batch.

Long story short, two ONE X's and a ONE S and all three phone's worked exactly the same.

3G signal strength was equally weak compared to my iPhone.

It's the same problem I had with the Galaxy Nexus 2 but I've read that later got rectified with a software update.

I like having an Android phone as my second line, if there's hope of an update I'd stick with it, if not time for Craigslist I guess. Then my next question is; does anyone have an Android phone with 'excellent' wifi/3G reception?

Yes, I've read around the Android forums but there seems to be no conclusion, some have problems others claim perfect reception even at a distance from the router ... that for me is hard to believe at this point with the HTC ONE line ... otherwise a nice phone to get used to the Android OS.

Buggy wi-fi and issues with multitasking are common gripes brought up over at the XDA forum. I think you just experienced what many other One series owners already have.

You may want to post your question over at XDA or an Android forum seeing that this is a mostly iPhone crowd.

Love the iPhone 4s.

That being said I just recently sold the 4s and bought a htc evo 4g lte outright. Absolutely love the phone, and could not go back to the 4s.

That being said I have an upgrade in November, and will fully consider the next iPhone. The 4s is a great device, just lacking a few features I need. But if apple tops android and windows phone come the holidays...well then I'll migrate back to ios.

I use what works for me best. The iPad 3 and the new evo is the best combo right now. But that could change.

The one x has some issues, but it will be fixed with Ota s I believe. The evo, which is of the same linage, does not appear to have these problems.

Finally made it to a Sprint store and messed with their version of the One X, the Evo something or other.

If I wasn't already an iPhone person, this would be the phone I'd be using. The phone felt solid, had a beautiful screen, and was fairly fast from my 10 minutes or so of geeking out with it. I much prefer HTC or Samsung quality.

I actually went into the Orange shop with every intention of buying a One X. I like the HTC Sense interface. The One X is in point of fact amazing. I bought the Galaxy S3 instead (very similar but slightly nicer screen, expandable storage and user replaceable batter).

Sense is definitely better than TouchWiz though (love the weather widget HTC uses).

That's interesting because every review I've read, says the One X has the nicer screen. No pentile Matrix with the One X. Otherwise, the only advantage I see with the S3 would be the expandable memory.

The S3 has darker blacks. The One X brighter whites. I don't think the Pentile makes a big difference from what I've read in reviews.

The S3 also has a curved backing and from what I've read is nicer in the hand compared to the One X. Granted, I've never held the S3, I'm just basing this off multiple reviews.

I've never used an Android device other than what I've seen in store, but I never been a big fan of the over saturation of colors on the Super Amoled screens. The LCD screen just seems more natural to me.

You can lessen the saturation in the display settings on the SGSIII. When set to Natural things do look a lot less saturated. I do doubt that it'll ever rival the Super LCD in the One X tho.

As much as I dislike Motorola as an Ex-Nokia fan, I have seen(with friends devices) their Droid X, Razr Variant, or even Atrix 2 has better reception that other Android phones. The only exception is the friend who had an HTC Incredible 2(S for GSM variants) and then moved the HTC Rezound. Seems like on Verizon their HTC devices get good reception.

That's actually really cool because the Super Amoled screens typically look almost cartoonish.

Here's another good picture. Yeah, artificial comes to mind when I think about the SII. But not to the point where I'd refrain from getting the SII/SIII.

Having not held the SIII yet, I already prefer the physical home button, expandable storage, and if I had to bet, the curved backing. Also the One X has multitasking issues and in some instances buggy wi-fi.

Sense 4.0 looks to be a much heavier skin than Touch wiz on the S3. Otherwise, I think you're always taking a gamble anytime you buy a new device(Apple products included) at launch. Sometimes it's good to let all of the kinks get worked out first.

If the One X had a micro card slot, id get that....IF it didnt have the multitasks issue. Two strikes against it IMO. Sense looks great though and better than Touchwiz...though i havent seen the new Touchwiz yet. Ill probably use another launcher like i do now and always have.

The blue-ish screen you dont notice when you have it everyday but next to the One X, i like the whiter screen better but again, you only notice it when it is next to another one like the One X. Doesnt bother me at all and in that picture, the GS3 is easier on the eyes imo.

Im excited to get the GS3. I still think it will be a bit bigger than id like but ill be fine one i have it. Cant wait to have a faster phone that is immediately responsive. My GS Vibrant needs to be reformatted to run well again. Ill set it back to stock when i get the GS3.

From the video reviews I've seen, I prefer TouchWiz on the SIII.

I never noticed the bluish screen on my iPhone 4 until I held the One X. However, I found the One X to be rather uncomfortable for one handed use. Hopefully the SIII's curved backing will help with that.

Curious what carrier you are planning on going with? I like some of the unique icons I see posted over at XDA's forum (show your homescreen, etc) but probably wouldn't opt to change them unless it was an easy process.

Just got a One X for my second phone, replacing an older Motorola Defy. My primary phone is the iPhone 4S.

This is a really nice phone. After spending a few days with it, i can see why reviews call it the best Android phone on the market. The screen is amazing, the audio is good and feel/design of the phone is really nice. I have somewhat larger to average sized hands for a guy, and one handing it is not that hard. I think the HTC sense overlay has vastly improved and the phone is very snappy overall

My only issues thus far are all related to Android and not the phone itself. These include:

1. Podcasts - Nothing compared with instacast on iOS.
2. Syncing with a mac - I essentially need to duplicate most of what is on my iPhone for use on this phone and go back and fourth. Native syncing using Goggle services is a bit of challenge. i think i am going to try one of the dedicated syncing products.
3. In general app quality seems to be a bit lower than on iOS.

Anyways a very nice phone. I'm sticking with the iPhone for the primary though.

I have been using the One X on AT&T for a week and the multitasking is a joke. its like ios 3.0. Every time I go back to an app it reloads. Every time I open chrome it reloads the last page. Then you have to refresh it. The phones going back for this reason alone.

Sounds like you don't have a clue how to use an Android phone. So yea, stick to your iPhone please.

What are you trying to sync exactly? I have a Razr Maxx and it works flawlessly with my iMac. Then again, it has Motocast, so everything syncs automatically if I want so I don't even think about it.

Right...what am I missing? First off, this issue is widely known now on the US variant of the One X. There are multiple threads on it at xda. HTC has acknowledged this "aggressive" app killing and just said its working as intended. Secondly, I am unable to unlock the bootliader on this phone to install a vanilla ICS. AT&T has it locked down with version 1.85, which is what all new One X's are running. As of today I know of no workaround.

This is a tweak by HTC, not how ICS should be handling opened apps. When you go back into an app it should pop you right back to where you were in the app. Not refresh or reload. Slacker radio and Pandora just shuts down after like 5 mins if you have more than 4 apps open on thus phone and its playing in the background. That's a fail in my book. What's enjoyable about opening up the browser and every time it reloads the pages cache. Then if you are say in a forum im,you have to refresh the page again to get updated posts. This happens when you switch browser tabs too. Or say you're in Tapatalk viewing posts. You switch to another app to do whatever. When you switch back to Tapatalk it reloads the appto its main screen. Its extremely annoying.

You should replace your One X with the SIII in a few weeks. HTC has wasted a great screen by combining it with terrible multitasking and, for now, poor wi-fi performance. Plus Sense is an ugly UI IMO. TouchWiz on the SIII looks nicer.
