eww, looks like you can see the crease marks.

Love my Fold, never going back to anything else. Most existing product I unwrapped since the initial iPhone / iPad or Apple Watch.

The technology is not there yet. Just look at the huge folds. That’s the problem, for a premium product in the thousands having a fold is just unacceptable to most who have that disposable income. Sure some early adopters will like it but for general population the technology is not just ready. That’s not even touching durability.

You clearly haven't owned a folding phone, have you?? The internal screen is so delicate that a fingernail can cause permanent damage, and until they make the crease completely invisible you can keep living in your dreamland.

You are the one that hasn't used one. You're using 5 year old talking points. Technology moves quickly outside of Cupertino, CA.

Apple is really missing the boat with foldables just like they missed the boat with AI. The current leadership has no vision. Vision Pro is a dead-end.

- They didn't miss the boat with AI. They took the careful approach and it sounds very promising.

- It's way to early to say anything for Vision Pro, it will take many years to see what comes out of it.

- Apple will do foldables only when they can do it with no (or at least only a few minor) compromises that others seem to have (durability, crease, camera).

I'm waiting to see the durability of these foldables. I keep my phones for a long time, and my wife kept her last phone (Pixel 2) for over six years, do you really think they will hold up that long?

Holding out for quad-fold.

Foldable smartphones are awesome, but they lack in some major areas. Until a foldable can be just as durable, sold at similar pricing, use same camera tech, and have same dust/water resistance rating as the equivalent flagship smartphone then it will always be a niche device.

They will last the normal lifetime of a smartphone, yes.

That isn't an answer. Lifetime of a smartphone for whom, the every 2-year upgrader, or for someone like my manager who is still using her iPhone 8 Plus? How do they do out in the environment? I take my phone hiking and camping, in the rain, dust and dirt. Next month the wife and I will be tent camping two weeks in the Nevada desert. How do they hold up to sand? I know my 13 will do just fine.

I'm going to wait a few years. My wife is a dedicated Pixel user and won't even consider folding phones either.

- In reality, they outsourced it to Microsoft/OpenAI and it won't launch with their latest flagship phones on day 1. And due to a lack of foresight and penny pinching, it's only supported on one other model. Google etc have been shipping AI features for years now.

- It's clear that sales are very slow and nobody wants to build apps or content for the device. Apple's hostile treatment of developers on their other platforms is coming home to roost here.

I personally don't care that much about foldables but... this year companies are releasing tri-folding phones and Apple's releasing same looking (since 2020?) Pro phone with 8GB RAM, the same main camera since 14 Pro and a telephoto camera from last years Pro Max phone. Wow. And they'll be rising base price from $999 to $1099 🥳
