So got my iPhone X S Max 256GB yesterday, so far I am enjoying it but I can already tell the Battery Life ain’t nowhere close to being at Huawei levels much like on my Samsung’s, a bit of compromise will have to be made on Screen Brightness and Charging expectations, luckily I have my iPad chargers so I do have Fast Charging

Back to earth we have gone.

I hope Huawei get through all this as they truly set a bar that even the “best” could not match on Battery Life, Charging and Camera (Night Mode and Zoom).

This feels like being on a Note9 or S10, but with an Apple logo and a much more mature and well integrated UI.

So....why did you switch? what can you not do with your P30 today that you could do last week?
You have raved about all Huawei phones and have been their biggest supporter for some time now. Why not ride it out with them?
What is not working on the P30?

I have been lucky enough to be allowed to review the Huawei devices, and can take them for a few weeks/months, but I also have a mobile contract and it was up for renewal, so I took the opportunity to get something completely different, the Huawei situation was more of a catalyst let me explain...

You have no idea the dilemma I have been in over the last month, I went as far as considering a Blackberry Key2 (I am active at CrackBerry), spoke to my network about Galaxy S10 5G but it’s not coming to them, looked at S10+ 512GB, looked at Note9, of course I have already had the Mate 20 Pro so no point in looking at that, we don’t get Pixels down here and we also have to import OnePlus. So I went back and looked at S10+. Then I simply stopped, suddenly the Huawei situation happened and BOOM, I was back at it again, then I figured if I am going to get something may as well get something completely different and here we are.

I still use the P30 Pro a lot, I am currently waiting for Android Q for it (if it comes), for now I will enjoy the Honeymoon period with the iPhone and see how long it lasts before I run back.... if ever.

It just seems like you jumped ship really fast considering how much you have raved about Huawei phones :D
Then kinda complained that you were down grading so to speak with the iPhone or any other phone that was available

Why not ride this out with Huawei? You seem to really really like their products :D
I mean what is not working on the P30 you have raved about?

I am riding it out.....with a life raft
I don’t know how long this whole situation will last in terms of the trade war. I’ll probably get the Mate 30 Pro with whatever OS it runs anyway, as I said I am lucky enough to get to review them, as I used to do with the Symbian Nokia’s until they went under, my last model there was N8-00 and I got an Android to try out and I was hooked from there.

Could be history repeating itself

I must admit, I panicked a little at first thinking by the end of the year my P30 Pro would be worth next to nothing and probably best to sell now. But I'm fairly sure I'm going to keep it until either the Note 10 or Pixel 4.

I've been using a Pixel 3a XL for the last few days and while I prefer the main camera for regular pics and the front camera is the best around, I prefer everything else on the Huawei. The bigger screen combined with full gestures makes it much more enjoyable to use. I really like having a wide angle lens and the battery life is second to none.

I'm certainly not well off but I don't have to be concerned with potentially losing up to £300 resale a few months down the line. So why miss out on a great phone, especially when it could all be resolved soon enough anyway.

Do not worry about Huawei going under, things are going to change soon, the policy maker in DC is changing his mind.

The Gestures on EMUI are brilliant, no pill at the bottom or anything, I seriously think Huawei nailed it there.

I’m going to have my P30 Pro until the Mate 30 Pro arrives, wonder if it will even run Android OS lol.

That is my whole point in a nut shell. Some have raved about how great the P30 (and all Huawei phones ) was and then jumped ship really fast and complained about it.

Damn, hope they are happy with their decision, I am glad I can keep my P30 Pro and enjoy it alongside my iPhone.

Think I will put together a little comparison review at some point on my feelings on EMUI vs. iOS, because there are things EMUI took from iOS and made better while others not so much.

If nothing else, I've scratched my Pixel itch because I've been wanting to try one out for the past few weeks!

Yeah, they're very good on the Huawei. As good as on the XS Max as far as I can remember.

I hope it all gets resolved before the Mate 30 because I'm sure it will be a worthy upgrade.

P30 Pro Camera with Mate 20 Pro display and a Kirin985, yes please!

I think Huawei will try ramp up Mate 30 Pro production and licensing now in the 90days, I am pretty sure that’s exactly what they are focused on along with the P30 and Mate 20 series Android Q updates.

The Mate 30 Pro was probably already going into production or at least in final stages of development by this point I’m sure,as Huawei did say they were over stocking on what they needed for production of their devices.

It must be mayhem at their HQ.

Have to laugh at what Envirofone are now offering for a 128gb P30 Pro, £100. Yet they're still selling them for £710.

My updates are still coming in and night shot pictures are still great

I think I am going to establish a pattern of going between this and the iPhone, they balance each other very well, where the iPhone integrates so well with my car and other devices (iPad, MacBook Air) and better quality social media (Instagram and Snapchat work better with iPhones), the P30 Pro comes with its sledgehammer of a Camera and incredible battery life (and charging), although over the last 2 days the iPhone has shown itself to be pretty damn good in the battery department to but not quite P30 good.

I keep saying to my friends with iPhones that Apple need to bump up the charging game, but actually they have, I just need to get the overpriced 30W charger . 30W charging with the XS Max battery would probably be comparable to 40W on the P30 Pro, considering their battery sizes.

It's so nice to have both smartphone OSs to play with, the iPad was simply not enough.

Do you leave the Huawei stamp on all your pics? First thing I turn off!

I could turn it off I suppose. I left it on recently as I also have an iPhone 8 Plus that I also use and I wanted to remember which photos I took with the P30 Pro. Recently I was comparing photos between the two smartphones to see the positives and negatives of each when it comes to photo taking.

If I only had one phone I suppose it would be off. I did notice recently over the last 2 weeks that everyone in China had turned theirs on to show solidarity and patriotism of their country and Huawei. On a side note that was not why I had mine on ;)

Huawei does have great cameras in their smartphones!

And battery life too but the pictures I think are not always better compared to the iPhone. It really depends on the type of picture you are taking.

I think so too....add the Pixel 3 to that list too. But all 3 take great pics. Love to see the P3 and iPhone get the zoom the P30 pro has :)

For those who are curious about battery life. Used it from 10:00 am until 12:00 am for about 14 hours and I still have about 55% left now. It was on performance mode all day long too but I just turned it off. Battery life is best I have ever seen on a smartphone

It is absolutely amazing

I hope the Mate 30 Pro is just as good if not better. If it’s running Huawei’s own OS it will probably be better on the same hardware.

Os is coming. Trust them to do the unexpected and so advanced, have no one to copy from. Hongmeng is the name from mythology. Like Kirin processor always advanced and sophisticated.
Huawei at a juncture reminiscent of India kicking out IBM in 1977 and built software structure of their own.
All I can say their time has come.

Huawei having their own OS is all well and good. But if the ban sticks, their phones won't do well outside of China. How many people in the US and Europe would want to buy a phone knowing they can't use YouTube, Google Maps, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, ebay etc?
