I own it but haven't opened it yet..been busy so haven't had a chance to swap everything over.

Still using my XS Max...
I am just going but what I have read. Soo many have complained about the battery being poor.
The battery life complaints on the S10+ have me worried about the Note10, I have to say. I am looking forward to it and thought it would be awesome to have both the Note10 and the Mate 30 Pro when it arrives.

Hopefully the Note10 arrives with a 4500mAh battery like the S10 5G, otherwise I will just have the Mate 30 Pro and keep the P30 Pro as my secondary device.

It's very hard to match the P30 Pro battery life, the only thing that really comes close is the Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X, but the latter is available in limited countries. If the P30 Pro's 1080P+ display is not for you then may be get the Mate 20 Pro it's getting EMUI9.1, try get the variant with 8GB RAM variant.

How do you find the P30 Pro?

I prefer the screen of the S10+ I must say but I am hearing too many bad things about the battery life which is worrying me. I already have the S10+ but haven't opened it yet but was going to start transferring everything over from my XS Max tomorrow...but now I might swap it for the P30 Pro

The P30 Pro overall is fantastic, BUT EMUI is not for everyone, much like Samsung UI, it has extra apps etc... Some you can delete and some you can't.

What I love in the P30 Pro is:
- Battery Life
- UI Speed and Fluidity with Gestures
- 40W Fast Charging, it charges so quickly, that the mixture of great battery life and 40W charging traps you in Huawei’s web you simply cannot get this experience in any other device currently other than the OnePlus 6T McLaren which is limited. It charges from 5% to 100% within 1hour, you can wakeup with 5% battery, plug it in, go get ready for work, and when you leave its at 100%.
- The Camera is amazing, the 5x Optical Zoom and10x Hybrid Zoom, Night Mode, Super Macro Mode and Wide Angle altogether make it a ridiculously versatile shooter, you are ready for almost any scene, it's unreal.
- Signal performance is fantastic, both WiFi and 4G LTE seems stronger than Samsung and Apple devices in most areas in my house, as we have dead spots, the P30 Pro usually picks up signal in areas we used to see as dead spots.

On the other had:

- Display could be better, it's 1080P+, so it's definitely nowhere near as good as the S10+ display, but it still does a good job
- Selfie camera is Okay
- No 3.5mm headphone jack
- Video Recording is average

Ahh thanks for that
Whats the best wireless earphones to use with the P30 Pro and case?

The screen is decent but like you said no where near the S10+ and when I went to the shop and saw them side by side it was definitely noticeable.
I prefer everything about the S10+ besides the battery.
Still deciding what to do tbh

This.

I have always found Samsung Battery Life to be good, however to get it to be this excellent required turning off somethings, and monitoring a little more, e.g. I always set GPS to Power Saving and would turn off NFC and lower screen brightness to between 40-50%.

With the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro, I left everything as is, GPS on High Accuracy, NFC On, Performance Mode turned on to, screen brightness on 70%, and I still get crazy battery life, like 9-10hours SOT with well over 24 hours off charge.

Huawei's also tend to have less idle drain than Samsung.

If you are in the USA though, you are better off sticking with Samsung as ol' Trump is trying is hardest make any sort of Huawei ownership impossible that side from what I have seen, don't know if you will get a warranty for example.
Certain outfit in USA such as B&H video will give your Huawei phone warranty for a year. Uncle Sam wanted to strangle Huawei telecommunication equipment. Next will be phones targeted.

Any pair of wireless headphones that supports AptXHD is a good match to the P30 Pro, Huawei are actually doing a lot of work on wireless audio in their phones and have ensured all the high quality wireless codecs are supported, so it's all down to what suits you, just ensure they support AptXHD to get the best experience. I used my Samsung U Flex for a while with my P30 Pro and now using Huawei FreeLace Headphones.

Case wise, Spigen are always a good bet, they have a stunning Liquid Crystal case for the P30 Pro:

I might just stick with the S10+ as risky as this is.

I have 30 days to use it and return if I don like it anyways but I've just bought an expensive case so for the S10+ so if I do return it I would have lost £40 with the case and protector I have just bought.
Ah well.

I will see how much the battery lasts me. If its terrible I will switch to the P30 pro

Cool.

You cannot go wrong with either device.

By the way, the better Galaxy S10 5G is out on 7 June in the UK maybe look at that? It has a larger 4500mAh battery and a better camera with ToF sensor than the S10+
https://www.engadget.com/2019/05/15/samsung-galaxy-s10-5g-uk-release-date-pre-order/

It's more future proof than the S10+ and P30 Pro as it has 5G support, which you can turn off if you don't have coverage and still enjoy the extra large battery, larger display and better camera

That is very tempting only thing is I am giving my XS Max away so I need a phone ASAP. The phone does look very tempting though I must admit. I am going to see if I can hold out until that phone is released.

I saw a video (maybe Mr Who’s The Boss) saying the Note 10 could well have an improved Exynos chip in it, making it on par with battery performance of the SD.

This goes to show how useless benchmarks are
The P30 Pro, S10+ and OnePlus 7 Pro were so close, trading jabs throughout this speed test.
yep...everyone says how useless benchmarks are...then post benchmarks when their favorite phone comes out on top....

I'm a big iPhone, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro fan. I have one of each and love them all. I recently was in Hong Kong and decided to pick up the new Huawei P30 Pro up. I picked up a black 256gb with 8gb of Ram model. There are many great things about the Huawei P30 Pro that I really like compared to my current iPhone 8 Plus. Some things are better and some are worse. Battery life is simply amazing on the P30 Pro. Cell signal/reception is also amazing and so is the GPS accuracy and location. Camera zooming is outstanding and so is taking pictures in the dark. What is not all that great is just basic pictures during the day (my $. 02..).
First image was at night of sky/moon in regular mode and second one was with a zoom in night mode of moon.
The shop is maybe 200 feet away with a zoom I was able to read what the sigh said which I could not possible see with my eyes.
Last image was at a restaurant about 10 feet away on the wall in small writing which was the permit.

[doublepost=1558244204][/doublepost]I am developing some new smartphone holders now which are magnetic for use in car, trucks, rv's etc.. I have noticed that with the iPhone the magnetic holder has no affect on the iPhone at all but on the Huawei P30 Pro if you use the clear case it will affect it a bit. Nothing major but it does affect it a bit so you need to use a good smartphone case and place the plate on the outside of the case to prevent it from affecting the smartphone from magnetic holder. With iPhone no issues at all using magnetic holder. I reckon this must be from location placement of components inside the P30 Pro. Best way around it is to just use a good smartphone case that is not too thin.

Welp, so what's the plan for the guys who spent 900 bucks on a P30 now?

lol.. I spent around that for the P30 Pro. Some good news and some bad news I guess.. At least one can update apps and apps will work. Only bad problem is OS itself apparently can not be updated. This is kind of odd though as one would think that if they sold them something and provided them with something that posed a security risk that they would be require to provide an update or at least for previously sold device and maybe not new or future devices. Pulling the plug on buyers who bought the device is not cool or right.

https://www.engadget.com/2019/05/19/google-pulls-android-support-from-huawei/

Update 5/19 5:15PM ET: Engadget understands that the report is accurate, although there will be a slight reprieve. Updates for Play Services and apps will still go through, as they don't require that Google interacts with Huawei. OS and security updates, however, are strictly off-limits.

I’ll have to sell my P30 Pro before it’s literally worthless. Got £480 guaranteed from a phone recycling place. Will try to sell it privately for more.

That news is really shocking, especially for me as a recent owner of the P30.

OS updates: imo shouldn’t be a problem as there’s AOSP. Many companies use Android without Google by way of AOSP.
Play store access: this is the real problem as without this license, Huawei phones outside China are practically useless.

As for security updates, I guess we can get by for a year or so (how many Android devices out there have up to date security patch anyway?) But after that, then it’s really worrisome.

A human tragedy. Life us never let you get ready. Huawei will survive. Maybe start using Qualcomm processor and merge with oversea company.

Why would Huawei want or need to merge? Your posts rarely make sense.
I know what I am writing. You are not my mentor. Huawei has to be on the side of the Uncle Sam. I have been to the old country many times know more, period. Your posts do not make sense either.

But why would they need to merge? Who would they merge with and why?
They already make their own processor chips and are doing really well in their own country.
